In latest VFL news, the Sydney Swans are reconsidering their association with VFL grand finalists Port Melbourne. This is due to cost-cutting measures.
With Essendon and Carlton now contemplating a merger with a VFL club, Port Melbourne would now be considered their number 1 priority.

Sydney have officially cut their ties with Port Melbourne, opening the way for a possible merger between the Borough and Kangaroos.
At this stage, a Carlton - Northern Bullants and Essendon - Bendigo merger is also likely, with confirmations likely sometime today.
If these mergers were to happen, the VFL competition would be reduced to 13 teams, requiring a bye during the regular home-and-away season.
Updates as they come to hand.
