I think we lost it in the second q. we were too desperate to get on top after a great first q by both teams and let the dogs beat us at our own game....that is, measuring the first half then running over the top of teams in the second half.

After we kicked our last goal of the second we looked like we thought we had it all sown up. We relaxed slightly and they kicked one straight away - suddenly we looked tired and they looked full of run. It was the first time all year that we have actually looked tired, and let's admit it, we only played 10 minutes of good footy in the 2nd half. The result could have been closer had we kicked more accurately, and had the scumpires not been so effing blind, but we didn't ever look like getting the four points.

positives: o'brien, pendles, rocca's marking

negatives: most of the team drifted in and out of form, rhyce shaw's brainfade - should have been dragged for that , rocca's kicking

The kids have been great, but if we want to beat brisbane at home, we need a better contribution from our more experienced players. Clement and Medhurst i hope that you are ready.

yeah and i heard MMM call Goldsack 'Moneybags'. love that one.
Could get a bit confusing when we play Essendon : "Moneybags" Goldsack v "Moneybags" Mal.

Exactly!!

No problemos this end with yesterdays loss, i thought Goldsack was magnificent, Obrien is killing em, i really believe we'll learn from this one and i also reckon we're much better, it seemed to me the Bullies had the bounce of the ball all day and with our innacurate kicking, it just wasn't our day, every collingwood player tried but in the end didnt have enough to get across the line

To add Joffa, when you are not use to the Dome it does take it's toll on you're legs. Rehab early this week is the key to being fresh for this Saturday night for the Bears.

I have to give some credit to the Dogs! Their rebound footy is nothing short of exceptional! We were able to stop it in the first half, but once they got onto a run, they were virtually unstoppable with their great foot skills!

After seeing the game replayed on Fox last night....I believe that the guys just ran out of legs....all the commentators just kept saying 'how good is Akermanis'....yeah right and I am the PM of Australia,God give us strength.
This may have been the 'calling card' that the guys needed......

Bring on Bris and watch the PIES fly........
The recon that an injured Magpie is a dangerous one...I should know as I have an injured one in an aviary in the back yard and christ isnt the beak strong.....I pity Bris!!!!!!!!

Joff...can I ask what the hell was on your head yesterday??? My sister sent me a pic of you during the game. I couldn't see it properly but did you have something weirdo on your head? Or was the pic that far away it distorted a cap? lol

Unfortunately the game wasn't telecast until 11.30pm here in Bali. So didnt get around to seeing it. But by all reports it was a disapointing loss, and from my sms' the dogs ran over us.

ALso, I am told not to bother doing a Rocca report...it's all on here, hehe

anyway bring on Brisbane!!!! see ya all next week

Seems like our coaching panel didn't do their homework on this guy Higgins. He carved us up at crucial stages.

Pendlebury's developement is moving along nicely.

I'm a little bitter this morning i must admit. Had we kicked straight i think we could've held on,.. despite the dogs running all over us! There were some very important misses in front of goal during the second half!!!

O'Brien: I so impressed with this kid!
Pendles: See above
Presti: After a shakey start he did some great things yesterday!
Davis: Wasn't really 'ON' although he did a few nice things!

DUMB: What was our defensive thinking when they let Brad Johnson bounce a set shot through for a goal????

Alf, not really... If you look close enough, you'll notice one of them is a treacherous lump of over-rated shit, and the other isn't.

Snoop Dog wrote:A very winnable game that we let slip with a little help from the ump.

Terrific first half by the boys where we run and chased them down out of our fwd line. Unfortunately the kids could not keep the intensity up and guys like Toovey, Pendles, Thomas etc went missing in the second half.

The Hahn free proved the turning point but misses by Rocca, H.Shaw Johno and Dick did not help at all (all should have been kicked). MM was right - we waste the footy in front of goal. Poor skill errors by the likes of Dutchy also were critical. Sides the Bullies play on confidence and you just need to nail them when you can.

By 3/4 time the game was over. We had no run left which is fair enough with the kids we have. But it was some of the oldies like Didak, Holland, Swan, Davis who also went missing when it counted.

Not to be to critical but a couple of blokes struggling at moment - Johnson and OBree could be a lot better. He really needs to learn to put his head over the footy.

Best for me: Fraser, Pendlebury, Lockyer, Burns, Cloke

PS It still kills me we let Scotland go!
Thought O'Brien was clearly our best today and I am surprised that you couldn't even squeeze him into your best.

Sounds like Harry is continuing on his merry way too.. which is great. especially as he is still learning. He will make mistakes on the way, but am sure he will have more good than bad. Go Harry! (least ya can't be taken out of this team after someone whinging!!!!)

off for more touristy things...
