i am really sick of people in here pointing out other peoples spelling grammer mistakes etc. Does this make you feel better, more of a man or woman. Time to give it a break. Jump on a bike get in my kitchen or in the ring if you like.

The idea is, if you're going to make a post and you actually want people to read it, it's a hell of a lot better if they can actually understand WTF you're on about.xtcc wrote:i am really sick of people in here pointing out other peoples spelling grammer mistakes etc. Does this make you feel better, more of a man or woman. Typing one long sentence full of spelling mistakes makes it harder for the people trying to read your posts and therefore dilutes the impact of what you meant to say. It also potentially means people will misunderstand your post, if they actually bother to read it.
No one picks on the occasional spelling or grammar mistake but when post after post looks like they were written by a 3 year old on acid, what do you expect?
If you can't be %^$& to take the time to try and make your post legible, why should anyone else take the time to read it?

Look, you want to take your bat and ball and go home, that's your choice.xtcc wrote:ok Stui i will never post on here again or put my hard earned cash in either sorry i only did 7 years of school does that make me a lesser person this is my second last post on Nickis thanks dickwad XTCC is out.
I'm not picking your intelligence or putting you down because of your education. I don't think you're lesser than me or me better than you because I can spell.
I was actually trying to make a humorous post.
My point is that you can make a legible post (minor spelling or grammar mistakes being irrelevant) when you pay attention. You've proved it. So has DTM whose posts have dramatically improved after he took on board comments from several people.
If you're going to get your back up, sook and run away every time someone points out you aren't doing something right, then good luck holding a job.
If, on the other hand, you take on board the criticism, disregard rubbish and learn from constructive remarks, you'll get along a lot better.
You choose.

This forum is, in the end, a place where we write messages to each other. That is what it is all about. It's called written communication. If you don't want to write, that's fine. Don't. You can always go somewhere else if you want to.
The ability to construct complete, readable sentences with correct punctuation and reasonable spelling is the fundamental written communication skill. No-one expects perfection, and we all get things wrong from time to time, but if you can't even try to write sensibly, why are you posting on a BBS? We are not talking some arcane and difficult art here, this is basic primary school-level stuff. Anyone can do it.
Complaining about people who get tired of trying to read nonsense is like turning up to footy training and saying "oh, by the way, coach, I can't kick, mark, or tackle, but don't bug me about that, I don't ever want to be any good at the game, I just want to wear the gurnsey and run out with the boys every Saturday".

Firefox would be a good start, but as M$ doesn't include it in any of their OS's, then it just isn't good enough for some people. It must be crap if M$ doesn't support it!Tess wrote:Tc, there are many spell checking programs available on the net free to download. This is where google is your friend.
Then again, those who seem to have problems with spelling and grammar are mostly M$ users who, no matter how many people they ask, just can't seem to get it all working as they would like it. IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO WORK AS YOU WANT IT TO. It's Micro$oft, and your pc will only work how Bill Gates wants it to work.
But seeing as how xtcc has left Nick's (again), this info is pointless as it won't be read by the person it was intended for.

There is a good tip, as valuable to those with perfect grammar & punctuation as it is to others.
PROOFREAD.
Before you click 'Submit', read your post. Read it again after it appears in the topic. This only takes a few seconds.
Anyone can make typos. Even if you miss them with your first inspection, you can always edit your post.
As members have pointed out, it's all about being understood. Nick's doesn't demand perfect spelling or punctuation but by proofreading, you will at least be submitting what you intended to say.
