Chief of Gabba Gestapo was looking pretty relaxed at the Gabba and wondered what all the fuss was about when asked about the new Gabba ruling of banning the calling of umpires as white maggots

memo to commentators:

- footy fans aren't tuning in to watch the umpires.

- footy fans don't care what the umpires names are.

- the umpires should not be the centre of attention.

So - shut up about the umpires. they should be transparent. when you build them up into two-bit celebrities, it seems to the rest of us like they then feel as though they have to start poncing around, throwing out bullshit 50 metre penalties and giving goals away with contentious free kicks just to make sure they're noticed.

why do do the celebrity umpires - "goldy", "scott mclaren" and now "ray" seem to me like the most shithouse, pedantic, inaccurate umpires of the lot.

shutup about the umpires. they're parking inspectors.

Great call Noddy. It's about time that these tossers went back to wearing all white, no numbers, no sponsorship and no microphones. These blokes are under enough pressure with 60,000 plus people judging their performance without having in the back of their mind what they are saying to the TV audience. Let them concentrate on what they are there to do because they are struggling.

They would do well to remember the adage that a a well umpired game is one in which you don't really notice them. The maggots couldn't have been more noticeable today if they were wearing gold lycra spandex bodysuits with sparkles

Agree Noddy with every word said!

The AFL is at the crossroads it is both pigheaded and arrogant, First Quarter stats 11 free kicks to 3..in wet weather, speak to any old umpire and he will tell you in the wet as it was today at the MCG you drop the whistle and pay only the absolute standout decisions.
People were walking out of the MCG at 3/4 time no not because of weather conditions and no not because of the score, people were walking out disgusted at a game fast eroding at the hands of bullshite umpiring, two blokes walked past me and said they can shove this game up there arse its ruined.
Be warned AFL this game aint as big as what you continually sprout it to be, it is in danger of becoming a nothing event, because as Noddy has said you promote and encourage celebrity umpires who really believe they are bigger than the event itself...the standard of umpiring today was SHIT!!!

And if we dont hear anymore about the crap non quality umpiring we witnessed today our game is in ruin..these blokes you employed today to control a football game should be charged with bringing the game into disrepute...it was shocking it was appalling it was absolutely piss weak!!!
