Three quarters of horse caca, then someone turned the switch & the HUNGER was there! We just lifted everywhere & wanted it more - simple!
Very exciting last quarter,.... welcome season proper & the 4 points thank you very much!

Couple of points:
Johnson: Who is hitting the town with now that Taz is gone??
Pendles & Thomas: These guys are the real deal!
Rocca: Thought he was OK for round 1!
Heath: Despite giving too many free kicks away [religiously!], he's more of the real deal!
Medhurst: I like what he offers us; goal smarts with a touch of mongrel!
Maxwell: Did some nice things as well as giving he's usual 100%
Burns: Well,... he's Burns 8)
Lonie: No comment,..... except to say that was a frustrating performance!

As for the Grant decision, the umpires have been doing that for years (giving ridiculously short 50s), it's only a big issue now because of how and when it occurred.

On 50m penalties, I've thought for years that the rule is absurd, unless the umps can do it properly, which they obviously can't. A better choice would be a 'free disposal' rule which allows the player infringed one disposal to another player who cannot be touched or interfered with. Whether handball or kick is up to the infringed player. I think that the second player would be required to take clean possession, that is, if the ball is dropped or kicked/handballed poorly and goes to the ground, it becomes play on. The side then gains, but the nature of the gain is entirely up to the judgement of the player concerned. This takes all guesswork out of the equation.

A good win for sure but gee the style they played should get nobody excited. Having watched a few games this weekend the theme is pace thru the middle of the park! We want to chip around!

MM has to fix this for us to be any chance of playing finals.

Looks like Johnno has The Lonestar as his drinking buddy now!
Until the last quarter Maxi was embarrassing; he had a few mates in Josh, Davis and Lonie.

I'd love to know who kept a rampaging Simpson quiet in the last.
Wasn't he benched? I think (probably wrong!) I heard Chrisso/Lane/Blight/Christi say that he was off the ground in the final quarter.

If he was on, whoever had him did a sterling job.

i thought he played forward... and was moved onto the ball when we got within 8 points, not sure who was on him, may have been burns/thomas combination.

I think Micky sang " Barroom Hero" to the lads at 3qrt time. He must have seen Drop Kick Murphys with me on Tuesday night " Face down in the gutter won't admit defeat because his jumper is Black & White". Scotty Burns , Tarks , Medhurst and Daisy responded accordingly. Before that my head receded in john wayne. Thanks lads you made all our weekends. Shannon Grant, Taz lent you his boots from 2005 and you kicked right into them, suck it sook bag! Scotty Burns' goal a thing of brillance. Jock McHale would have smiled from the sky, for the 3 other quarters he would have been spitting bile!

Not sure that they relate but you are correct in that Leon's non-free was a disgrace. All the media attention has been on the Grant 50 but Leon non-free was equally significant. Actually went from Leon having a shot from 40 metres out to the Roos kicking a goal. Assuming Leon kicks accurately, there's a 12 point turn around. The Roos were only ripped off 5 points with the dodgy 50.

I should write to the Roos and suggest that we'll give them their extra 5 points if they give us our 12.

Really? I thought he was actually really good. Didn't get a hell of a lot of the ball, but he was pretty good when he got it. That mark and goal was pretty top-rate, especially for a defender.

Was fortunate enough to bag a seat just to the left of the cheersquad on Saturday, can i just say well done to the boys and girls for there enthusiasm and constant support for the lads even through those exruciating first 3 quarters of footy. I even noticed in the last Pebbles looked up in our direction and motioned for abit of a lift from the cheersquad.....so keep up the good work as it clearly is being noticed!

Was the first time I have attended a Collingwood match as a Social Club Member, and must admit to feeling just a little more pride than usual in the boys as I left the G, almost as though they justified my investment in even the smallest way. Anyway, is great to be on board....hopefully the first year of many!

As for the game, hard to make any definitive judgements on where we stand, I think after Round 3 against the Tiges we will all have a much better idea as this week in perth will be very tough, lets just hope we can carry the last quarter form from Saturday into a fast start over at Subiaco.

Thomas was brilliant in the last, I was shocked to hear that Garry Lyon was bagging him on the radio about trying to play like a "millionaire" with his one handed pickups. Its bad enough they are trying to take the toughness out of the game, now the so called media know it alls want to cut down the individuals and those with flair. He was definately the spark today, along with Lockyer (who just keeps doing enough to warrant his spot in the 22) and Burns.

Clement, well what can you say....pencil him in for All Australian now, as if the selectors dont feel stupid enough for leaving him out last year, they should have his name down now! Enough said.

Heath Shaw will only get better (in regards with disposal I mean) so that is a promising thought, although more run off half back from himself, his brother and Johnson is needed.

Medhurst was serviceable in his first game, went missing in the middle half of the game but forward pockets will do that, and its not as if the ball was going deep into our forward 30 on all that many occasions during that period. Kicked an important goal when needed.

Other best for mine were Presti (underrated as usual, just gets the job done) Pendles looks to be getting better and even Obrien, who I though won some crucial ball and for a player of his inexperience is definately a good prospect for the years to come.

Not sure what to make of Lonie on Saturday, if he was indeed tagging Wells then he did a fantastic job in that regard, but at times today I still think he took shortened steps when a 50-50 ball was in dispute. ANd maybe it was just me but he even looked a little slow at times..?? Correct me if Im wrong but I reckon he has atleast another 60% improvement in him.

And as for Guy Richards...well, Im not sure if there is any way I can spin his "effort" in a positive way, he just makes too many fundamental errors, panics at the first sight of body contact, and just doesnt give us enough out of the centre for a bloke whos been around for what, 5/6 years now. Granted he has had injuries, but maybe his chance has come and gone. I feel sorry for Josh, because if Bryan doesnt deliver this year then he might be spending large portions of gametime in the ruck, which is a shame for a our forward line structure.

Anyway, enough of a rant from me...I dont usually post but have been reading some of the comment with interest and felt like chucking in my 2 cents worth, for what its worth!

Looking forward to Saturday with some trepidation, but the likelihood of a Didak is great news. Creates atleast 4-5 goals a game, and we will probably need everyone of those on Saturday night.

Go Pies.
