Agree Loki Bryan is more capable in the fact that he can go forward. Richards is a lot more one dimensional. I think he is been selected as he performed well against North last year in round 22!

Harry and Wakes are completely different players, and Wakes has looked in sparkeling form in the preseason, adapting with sublime ease to the new hands in the back rule.

We have stacked the team with medium-small defensive options in Clement, Lockyer, Johnson, Heath, Lonie, O'Brien, Maxwell and Swan, Presti will take on whoever thier leading full-forward is even if he is small, as he does against Brad Johnson and others, Wakes will take whoever thier CHF is, and thier will be one, and will do well.

I think the side looks pretty quick, Meds, Thomas and Licuria are good ground level forwards, Fraser is very mobile for a big man and Cloke will also cover a lot of ground.

Rhyce Shaw was finding real form in the last few games of the season last year and will be itching to cement a spot as an up and coming midfeilder along with the likes of Johno and Swan, all three of those guys have run.

Expect good things from Pendles after a full preseason (without Glandular Fever) and Richards with a viable rucking option breathing down his neck.

Thier are really only 2 garunteed starting 18 players missing from the side in Bucks and Dids, Holland being, along with Tarks, Licca, Lones and Rhyce one of the mids under pressure form the likes of Thomas, Pendlebury and others (like Medhurst).

Egan is the other who might be able to add something, but this is a very solid unit compared to the one that took on North in the opening round of the NAB.

Our major worry for mine is the forward-line O'Bree, Burns, Davis, Heath, Johno, Swan and Pendles should be able to at least break even in the midfeild, and I think our backline should have thier measure and provide some rebound, but the forward structure lacks two of its key ingredients in Bucks and Dids, and the remainder have not played together as unit much.

Looking forward to the match.

I reckon, roos will bring in Edwards last minute,to bolster their goalscoring opportunities, especially if it rains.
Malthouse must learn his lesson.Do you want the best out of lonie. Then take him out of the backline dickhead and play him on the wing, and leave him there. That's when the guy can let loose with those 50 plus metre slammers and either he'll kick goals or a lihghtning pass to one of the forwards.
Donot play lonie in the backline,he gets taken up the ground and out of the play.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Before the guy is criticised, for goodness sakes play him in his right position and see the results malthouse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Especially if we need goalscorers,he's prefect out of middle straight to lonie
GOAL job's done farrrrrrrf it can't be that hard.

Totally disagree with you. A 60m goal every now and then does not a player make. Lonie played a very underrated run-with/defensive role last year and his run is needed off the backline as most of our younger running mids are forward-of-the-centre players. A necessary move by MM given Lonie's weaknesses in years gone by and the side's current needs.

Although you do wonder about the depth. Chris Bryan is the only one of the emergencies who has even played an AFL game.
Hate to disagree but that line up does not fill me with confidence.
I think it's a pretty good line up. I'm not sure about both Wakes and Harry on the bench. I know they're different types of players but they both usually play back. Unless MM is planning on using Wakes to pinch hit up forward when Josh goes into the ruck and Guy comes off the ground :?

Then again, with Bucks, Dids and Ruz out, I suppose its either that or blood a 17 year old.

O'bree to Davis who hits Rocca on the chest 40 metres out, all within 15 seconds. He converts. What a start that would be!
Is anyone else excited?

Without checking Stats....from last year...

Collingwood: OUT: Tarrant( Traded); Holland ( suspemded), Buckley( Hammy), Didak.

I don't think the concerns are warranted at this stage...although Didak's a BIG one..

A bloke named Travis Cloke can grab the football world by the throat if he desires ( and I reckon he has the ability)..Lets keep an eye on this kid. I bet the other clubs have.....! He's got all of the 'atributes' in a physical sense but has he got the metal.....?

IN - Medhurst (but obviously there are more)

OUT - Bucks, Didak and Holland.

Not sure how people thought Did's would play.
I think it was more hope then anyone really thinking he was a chance at playing this week. I wouldn't want them to rush him back into the side.

Really looking forward to the footy finally starting, been too long without any real action (NAB Cup still doesn't do it for me.)

Yeah, no worries.
