BTW you are fully entitled to be deliriously happy and utterly bloody delighted at our loss to Sydney, that is your eternal right. If I beg to quietly differ, that is MY right. So just let me be....we beat to very different drums and that's a very good thing....

Just arrived home from the game 1 hr drive and yeah we got a fair belting although we were in the game till half way where we got a mini revival and got within 2 goals. Well from my point of view best players were Jimmy as usual, Heath did some good work, Obree did ok, Egan was good in patches, Reidy did alright( he seems to know what hes doing, just a little light on), I liked the look of Bryan the recruit from Carlscum, he would be good if he lost 5 kilos as he seemed a bit chubby around the legs and ran out of steam and I actually thought Irishman Clarke did alright . Clarke kicked the ball well on all occasions and just looked like he was switched on.
Of the others Wellingham kicked the ball accurately on the few times he got the ball, Brown was stationed in the forward line with Reid and didnt do alot although he did receive a knock and was on the ground for a while not sure what happened there, Penders had plenty of time when he had the ball but couldnt get into the game, Thomas was only sighted early but faded by games end( as did most of the side , the sting had gone out of the game by the 10 minute mark of the last quarter) Rocca had a few touches and did ok it was the delivery into the forward line that didnt do him any favours. Licca was not in the game, Richards well I think started good but didnt have much influence on the game as the game wore on and sorry to say this but Presti got cleaned up by Barry . Barry just tricked him with position of the body on several occassions and I just thought Presti shouldve done better.The boy Toovey did some good running but let himself down with loose checking early on which did his confidence no good. Swan was in and out, R Shaw was hardly sighted. Tarkyn got by with using his experience but only just battled on and whoever is left well i just dont remember them. Having said all that the Swans just had a well drilled side and the way they ran it out of defence and cleared the ball from bounce ups and throw ins it just made me envious. They were freakin good in tight space tussles and just knew where their team mates were when it counted. I think the Pies need to gel a bit more in knowing their team mates strenghts and weaknesses, but I suppose it was just a practice match. By the way 10979 people turned up and it was a great turnup for a town of a population ofabout 4 thousand . Great lighting as well.Oh yes Lonie did ok and Nicholls was a terrier for the short time i saw him.

1. Didak plays half a game and looks brilliant, Reid plays well again, pendlebury stars but we lose by 10 goals

Just got back from the game
There were plenty of positives to come out of it for the pies.
Gavin Brown actually coached us tonight.
Ben Reid was very good, showed he is definatley a player of the future.
I had the privilige of being at Mick's press conference, he spoke about how he is a good chance of playing throughout the season and earmarked him as a potential player to fill in Rus's position.
Brown answered all the questions about the game and Mick spoke about other issues.
He also said Buckley will play were he wants him to play and the midfield probably isn't were he is best anymore.
Said players can't choose where they play...
he also said of the new rules "I have spoken about the rules, you know my opinion."
"The rules didn't cost us 10 goals tonight." was a pretty funny incident.
Dale Thomas tried hard all night with little luck but definately has got the ability.
Interesting to note the one player the Swans probably tagged was Pendles.
Pendles was quiet but when he got the ball he looked classy.
Bryan was okay, can actually kick at goal which is a plus.
I thought Licuria was amongst our best along with Lockyer who didn't hear footsteps.
Roos was pretty happy after the game.
Only injury to come out of it for them was Bevan...
Roos spoke about how they have done their pre-season slightly different aimed at trying to get a better start to the season.
He talked up Collingwood a little bit.
Interesting to note that 10,965 is the biggest crowd at Narranderra since the 1956 Riverina Grand Final.

While i'm with you in the sense I don't like losing any game, you have to realise that these games aren't about the results. To an extent neither is the NAB cup proper. Look at the last two winners, last year Geelong won it then didn't play finals, year before Carlscum won it then went on to win the wooden spoon.Lazza wrote: What a fabulous loss....

You only have to look at our last two grand final years. 2002 was the last of the old round robin and we got beat by Hawthorn easily if my memory serves me correct, we then got our asses handed to us but Sydney and suffered a 10 goal or so loss to Nth Melbourne, to be convincingly knocked out of the comp. We then went on to finish top 4 in the season proper and make the Grand Final.
2003 we went on the make the Grand Final of the NAB cup (or whatever it was called then) and we made top 2 in the season proper and again in the Grand Final where unlike the previous year we didn't give a yelp.
Shows to me that the pre-season means squat, test players, get fitness, try different positions etc. Sure no one likes losing, especially me, just ask my family. But with these games I can take a couple of hours and then look at practice match results in context.

Thanks Magpieazza and Shackleton for the great reviews of our game in the middle of nowhere, (apoligizes to the locals). With no coverage at all, it is great we can come onto Nicks and get all the news. Oh and by the way, once again Collingwood future inthe first few pages of the advertiser here in Adelaide, this time with Mr Bean visiting.

Basically, it's how you attack it. Sydney never come out to win the competition, whilst teams such as the Kangaroos and Carlton, in recent years, have gone hard from ball one. All depends on the circumstances. Look I DO realise that these are practise matches and WKB, you talk a lot of sense in your last post.
Just that whether it is a ten a side giggle or a trial match or the real thing, I HATE Collingwood losing...
The shit feeling after a Collingwood loss is NOT what I enjoy, unlike some others here on the board. That is their right btw to be OK about a Collingwood loss, just that I take time to get over it due to my incredible one eyed passion and (most probably) over fanatical love for the mighty magpies built over many years now.....
