Will be training there on Thursday afternoon.

If Collingwood take the match seriously they should trounce a team considered a wooden spoon chance.
Exactly..the game will be shot by half time...pies by 94!

Love the optimism,..... & i guess now is the right time for it if you're that way inclined. However, please don't be too disappointed or start asking for the coach to be sacked if we somehow manage to let this very important game slip!

In reality it's a practice game so i'm not sure how that qualifies it as being a "very important game" [unless I missed some sarcasm here LoneSTAR]. The main thing is that some of our new recruits show some form, the team displays some spirit and the game plan begins to take shape. I still think we will win, but given all the kids we're trying out, I won't be at all concerned if we lose it to a senior listed Roos team, desperate for the money and a chance to buld a support base at Carrara.

With the Roos at a $1.80 and us at $3+ we are good value although reports are the Roos are very fit.

How many points start do we get at the $1-90?
Anyone? Is it 18.5ish?

Reasonably full kangaroos versus our C team minus Lockyer - we will get smacked one would think.

Yes, that's the logical position.

All I hope for is a red hot go from some youngsters and those who have something to prove (for about two and a half quarters), and evidence of good team spirit and enthusiasm. You can't stop a bigger bodied earlier-prepared team if they really want to win it.

pietillidie wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but did I hear Paul Roos say somewhere that he was happy to play the recent praccy against us because last year they played Essendon who were more advanced in their preparation and took the game too seriously?

If that's the case, then you might suspect he and Malthouse chose to play each other because they both have philosophies of late preparations, which traditionally seems to be the case with both of them.

If the Roos really want this, they will be given it. The carrot will nonetheless be dangled to our youngsters and those needing to make a mark to see how far they can take it.

I would read nothing at all into it bar a classic Malthouse late preparation if we got hammered and looked a bit of a shambles. Late preparation for Malthouse usually means holding back the big bodies, having a bit of a trot about and experimenting with key structural changes--and it almost always looks ugly and causes us to be prematurely written off.
I hate to quote myself, but I do it as social service in this case.
