Actually a fair guage of where the Pies are at. Capable of some very fine footy (ie: 1st quarter) but not overly consistent (ie: rest of game).
I think we can take some very good development forward into next year. Don't know that we would have been good enough to beat WCE over there if we had of gotten past the Doggies so might as well bow out early and grab an earlier draft pick. Cant wait for the 2007 season.
A ginormous problem we have is that our 'full-forward' plays like a tall forward pocket. Been saying it all season, Ant is too lazy for FF, he has no plan B.

Too lazy for full forward???.... the only 'less-lazy' spot would have to be the pine
i'm so disapointed in the boys, so disapointed.
This was supposed to be the year we came back and got up, yes, we went from 15th to 5th this year, but still, there is no excuse for sundays performance, i cannot believe it.
what to do now?

My 2 cents on yesterday's game:
- They were more desperate for the ball/win
- We were not prepared to run & back each other up
- Tarrant's inaccuracy was costly,.. but yes he was our most productive forward
- Would love to know what the game plan was after the 1st quarter. That way it's a little easier to understand whether the players or coach need more attention to tactics!
- Lonie is NOT a defender,.. again!
- Richards is still a way off making an impact [you have to ask whether he is the answer?..... 1 more year?]
- Our tackling was absolutely THE WORST!!!... not just yesterday!
- Our disposal under pressure was terrible
- Thomas is gonna be fun to watch over the years few years!
Yes, a very disappointing so called effort on Sunday and yes a huge leap from 15th to 5th. I read all the postings with interest, talking about who's good and who's not, who should be traded and who should be picked up yet I see no comment about the selection committee/coaching panel and which players they decide to put on the park whether they have been performing well or not !? We lacked pace, tackling and players backing each other up; doesn't anyone in the black and white watch the impressive blue and yellow??? MM has his blue-eyed boy's that will always play seniors regardless and he has his whipping boys that he'll drop in an instant. At least now that the season is over for the Pies the players with little to no respect for the members can go out and p!ss our hard-earned money up a wall with no consequence to next weeks training or game!
Bloody HELL! Stop this negative talk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im sick to death of it. I am just as disappointed as u all r. But lets not be stupid about it and show some common sense.
Positives from this year:
- almost Injury-free
- 15th to 5th
- youngsters stepped up
- Richards rarely injured (good for his development) will be good next yr
- In reserves have found more talent (toovey, cook, anthony)
- Didak AA
Friend of mine went out with the Collingwood boys for Mad Monday and one of the players told him Wakes has signed for another year and MM gave Rusling a spray of all sprays after the WB game....
Daicos, this is when he's at his best, the MAAASSSTTTTTEEERRR!!!
Hey, CFC 2009-1011-12, why on earth would he spray Ruz ??? I say give the kid a go, he leads and marks well and can kick a goal or two. Just like with Guy Richards, give them a chance and they'll be a plus for our team. Once the mid-fielders and Guy get used to playing with each other for more than a couple of weeks, I can almost see another Monky to Francis and out of the middle scene !! I'm not bag'n our players and I think the improvement from last year is sensational but I still doubt the coaching panel/selection committee. I reckon all the young lads we picked up at the end of last season show a huge promise for the Maggies and can't wait for them to play as a unit in the big time. Spoke to Neon Leon on Sunday and he's up and training, hope he has a great pre-season and is up for a big one next year. With Neon, Swanny, Dids, Heater, Daisy (and hopefully a couple of other young lads), look out opposition, hear come the black and white flahes !!!

From what I saw at the game, Rusling's second efforts and contests after the first quarter lacked any urgency and presence. Its the weak part of his game. Great on the lead and a fair kick up to a certain distance but his on ground work and overhead/pack marking is not so good. Maybe that's what Mick had a go at him about. If so he's right. Rusling has great potential but he needs to work on the grunt aspects of his game if he is to take the next step.
