Have not heard Barham. But if he is playing then more than happy for Guy to come in. Im more than happy for Josh to be rested and play both Guy and Fanning in a last ditch effort for one to gain selection.
What better way for these guys to show something than giving them a shootout...most effective player gains selection. Josh was outclassed and looked tired last night.
If Josh plays, then i feel a backup ruckman should come in and allow Josh to sit up forward and ruck in small spurts. We really have to start thinking about having our guys ready for round 1 of finals now.
Rocca is not the answer in the ruck because he is so unfit at the moment. He is only useful in 5 minute spurts. Admittingly, Rocca looked ok in the ruck and got things going our way more so than Josh last night. However he cannot be used in that position for long periods of time because he cant run.

There's more to life than footy.........just not much more.

Changes this week
I would keep things simple.
In - Pendles Rowe Tarrant/Richards/Fanning (if ok) Presti
Out- Bucks and Rocca (rested) and Isles obrien
Would think bucks would be rested for sure, gives him 16 days until the roos. Rocca looks to be very sore could do with the break. Isles looks out of his league a bit. I would send egan/tarks down back to cover him.
Pendles and Rowe performed well for willy on the weekend. Only problem with resting rocca is the rest for Fraser. Really need Richards or Fanning to step up. Depends on the weather maybe C1/3 could pinch hit.

OUT: Licca is getting to the bottom of the packs OK, but nearly every time he gets the ball he turns it over or stuffs around forever while the opposition flood back, or else pops it up high and slow in a short pass to a player not much further forward than he is. I love Licca, breaks my heart to drop him, but we need an in and under player who can do something more positive with the ball.
IN: Yacca. Is he good enough to do the job that Licca used to do? Time to find out. If he can, great, he's got two weeks to get match-fit for finals football. If he can't, let's find out now and see if the week off helps Licca improve.
OUT: Jason Cloke. With Presti back, we have four tall defenders. (Counting Jimmy as a tall.) Five is too many. Enthausiasm is no substitute for effective possessions. Too slow to play on the fast forwards, too short to play on the tall forwards, been tried many times in attack without success. Can't fault his heart and his will to win, but doesn't have what it takes.
IN: Presti. No explanation needed.
OUT: Buckley. Rested.
IN: Pendles. Can he go all day? About the best midfielder on the list that isn't injured or already playing. Hope that what he lacks in experience and consistency he can make up in brilliance. (If not Pendles, then Davies.)
OUT: Harry. Injured.
IN: Lonie. Can be a useful defender as well as provide penetration from around the wings. Has good days and bad days. Hope it's a good day!
SUMMARY:
In: Presti, Pendles, Yacca, Lonie
Out: Licca, J Cloke, Buckley, O'Brien

4 tall defenders?
Presti- Fitness unsure of
Wakelin- Unfit
Maxwell- Playing poorly and had to be moved forward on the weekend and failed miserably, did nothing again
Clement- Cant really count of him as a tall when he can play small as well
But of course it wouldnt be a Nicks thread without Jason being suggested as being dropped, although most said the Essendon game would be his last ever for Collingwood, How wrong they were

Ummm... get a clue. The reason he was moved forward was to make Chad Cornes accountable, nothing to do with his form in the back half. He was essentially playing as a defender in the forward line. He did his job as Cornes stopped getting as many cheap kicks as he was prior to the move.eddiesmith wrote: Maxwell- Playing poorly and had to be moved forward on the weekend and failed miserably, did nothing again

Yet Jason was bagged for doing the exact same thing earlier in the gameMagpie Since 1986 wrote:Ummm... get a clue. Atleast Davies is somewhat accountable for his man, Iles has had goals kicked on him each week he has played and still hasn't got it through his head to stick with his man.Tannin wrote:PS: swap Iles for Davies? Not sure.
Tradition? Pfft you call merging with Fitzroy and cheatin to 3 flags Tradition? Winning 4 flags in a row is history, which makes tradition!

keep taz on ice, those shins are going to do a lot of running in the finals if rusling holds his place. rocca needs to stay on the park, he can keep searching for his "form" in the goalsquare and can rest up against the kangas with burns.
rest bux, out o'brien, out iles
in from davies, richards, presti, lonie

Yeah, good one. Out three defenders and a forward. In one defender, one ruckman and two midfielders.maggies2003 wrote:4 changes:

The team has to have balance.
O'brien is definitely out. Lonie should be in.
If Bucks is rested then either Taz or Pendles in.
Wakes seems to get injured too much for my liking at the moment. Presti if fit is sure to be back in and Wakes will probably make way for him.
Out: O'Brien, Buckley, Wakelin
In: Lonie, Tarrant/Pendlebury, Prestigiacomo

Out O'Brien(injured) Wakelin(rest) Iles(dropped) Buckley(rest)
In Lonie Prestigiacomo Davies Iacobucci
Buckley to get his rest. Same applies to Wakelin.
Nothing against young Iles, thought he has exceeded expectations for a first-year player.
O'Brien to miss a few weeks with a bruised knee.
