Should have been a 10 goal smashing, but a win is a win for this. Looking foward to next week big game against Adelaide should be match of the round.

Big T wrote:Hard game to watch and listen to after half time. 1st half enjoyable though. Highlight was C1, great effort again, looks like he belongs to me. Tackling and pressure was good for most of the night. Like the look of Davies, C3 did well in the 1st half, Heath Shaw excellent again and bloody unlucky with the umpires.Overally first half while scratchy was great to watch as a Pies supporter.

2nd half was bloody aweful. Ryan Lonie was the lowlight. Is a major worry for finals and I think needs to be put on notice. Just plain slack, looks uninterested, poor tackler, did nothing. Needs to be dropped straight away IMO as if he can find his run and dash we could be a chance in September.

Cam you are normally correct in your Nostradamus predictions but this one is interesting based on tonights form - I presume you like a lazy win and believe that it indicates the best in the game will bring out the best in us as we run into winning form. I hope you are correct.

I also can't remember so many head high tackles laid by the Pies in one game. Very undisciplined and would be costly in a close one. Johnson went straight at the man and may be cited, although there was no malice and Croad ducked.

Also Ego gives us flare but still can't kick. Needs to concentrate more on disposal.
Usually there are some signs that point to coming disaster like not chasing, not taking risks etc Tipping success is a lot harder to do, well nigh on impossible really, so its more a hope along those lines BigT, than a prediction with a base.
Get back on top.

yes they were horrible weren't they , you want to win a game on mertit playing the game fairly etc not via soft dodgey frees etc no matter what way they are paid whether it is the pies getting them or any other team getting them , if the free is genuinely there fair enough but when it is not then why and the player is very much staging it then no don't .

next time they may give the other team all the frees and the pies miss out due to bad umpiring !

A good win but the foot came off the pedal.Chris egan is a worry. He is very slow and appears to be our very latest turn over king. He looks like he doesn't know what to do with the pill when he gets it and generally gives it up to the opposition or kicks it into the player in front of him or if he doesnn't do either of those he just loses the ball while bouncing. Great to see C1 back doing what he does best, marking and spoiling, and I'm sure Presti likes him back there as he appears to be a much better player when he has help down back.4pts is good. Bring on the cows. 8)

Good points Mudlark. Great result for C1, I think all Pies supporters hope he does well.

Great to be back in Oz and see a few games live.

Loved the effort against the weagles and a 45 point win is OK in anyone's book, but percentage would have been nice.
A few concerns though about the Hawks game.
Johnson will definitely be looked at for a high tackle, especially as it landed Croad in hospital. Accidental or not, he's in trouble. You can hit a guy in the nuts deliberately and get 1 week, punch a guy whilst not watching the ball and get a week and accidently make head contact and get???????. Who would possibly know with this joke of a reporting/tribunal system.

Hawks were pitiful in the first half; we should have been further in front.
We were OK in the second; they increased their effort and used the corridor but our work rate was still high...tackling was best all year I reckon.....we just missed too many sitters.
Someone please invite P. McKenna down to the Lexus Centre for some Tarrant homework or ask Josh to give Taz a few pointers?

The umpiring was the worst all season I think. We got some absolute sodas and I was just embarrassed. How can these guys get a game?

Next week will tell us a lot. Unfortunately, we cop the Crows after their first thumping; they'll be mighty mean. Anyting under a 50 point loss will be a bonus I reckon.

Great to see Cloke (both of them) back to top form. Travis looked so comfortable and Jason was back to his 2002 best.

Josh was just terrific and our best player I thought. The Age writer was obviously in the bar all night; didn't put Josh in our best 8!!

Heater back to his early form, Clement classy as always.
If ever we needed proof of how important Brodie is to our team we just need to watch the last 2 weeks. He gives us aggression in the middle and his running capacity gives us tagging options across four quarters.

Nice to see Maxy back too; we've missed his aggression in the back half.

Despite the overall poor spectacle of Friday's game and the poor goal kicking, there are promising signs.
A good effort aginst the Crows and we'll be rolling towards the finals on a high. Let's hope so anyway.
Go you mighty Magpies!

By the way, did anyone else hear the truly awful Rocca interview on 3AFascist yesterday? Deeply, deeply embarrassing. When Anthony had the chance to have his say to Walls and Sheehan, he just spoke like a naughty school boy and agreed with everything they said. Even admitted he'd spoken the the Club psychologist after the articles last Tuesday.
Oh my god Anthony........stay away from radio and tv interviews please!!

Egan or Thomas (if okay) will probably take over Leon's role. Poor guy, having a year like Rhyce Shaw did last year, just coming into some form and gets injured.
They boys will beat Adelaide if they can stop Riccuito, Burton, man up when the Crows do their chipping around, keepings off shit, have an even spread of goalkickers, and run out the game better than the last time they met, when our boys ran out of legs. They look fitter than at the beginning of the year so it's game on! Can't wait.
Congrats Bucks, on a great return! Bring on the Crows!

FWIW, we can play a lot better than what we did on Friday (yet we still won by six goals).

Heath Shaw is a shoo-in for the Rising Star.

I agree on Shaw, if he doesn't win it, it's rigged. Been the only consistant player (rising star) all year,

On the game, all I can say it's no wonder ratings are down. Hawthorn went the flood to avoid getting polaxed. We killed them in general play all over the ground in the first half. Fraser beat the uninterested tattoo man. Didak was a standout.

After half time I wasn't interested in the football and many people left the ground in dusgust at the quality of football they are paying top dollar for. They could have been Hawk suporters as well.

Yes we won, but this is the elite level and the quality is shite. I see better contested football in TAC games.

This week I hope we knock off the Crows in a full house of adoring Crow fans.

Terrible spectacle after half time, game was dead and buried. Shocking skill errors by both sides all night.

Could have smashed them but didn't thought we did well in the end to play ugly and still win by 45 points, wasn't one f our shinning moments for the year but it was still a good win and that is often the mark of a decent side.

Fantastic game from Travis and wasn't it great to see, his brother did very well too.

Sad news for Leon (ankle confirmed broken, out indefinitely) was playing one of his best games I thought.

Good to see Ant regain some touch, Dids was fantastic, Bux played like the champion he is. Taz' kicking or deary me!! Shocking.

Heater and Swan combined brilliantly at times.

Ego showed his good his bad and his plain ugly sides.

We were ordinary for much of three quarters, had done enough only to drop off to their level which is absolute sh1te.

Roids in big trouble I reckon
