Isnt it interesting to see that Jeff Farmer gets one week for striking a Sydney player, who should have got 2 or 3 atleast, is able to come back and KILL us
Then we have Kerr, intentionaly hits Mitchell in the worst possible spot to be hit, gets two, which means he misses the CollvWCE game and then gets it reduced to one...
AFL Tribunal = Cheats and Riggs.
Watch out Melbourne and the WB, u guys are next, the AFL wants NO vic teams any where near the top of the ladder
davis -dud
no backpocket player we get killed there every week
it's not tarrants fault he has gone soft every time he trys somthing the **** rub him out
i've only heard the MMM webcast but: all week i'd been looking forward to the pies still being in it at half time. The first quarter we played some good footy but were not good enough in front of goal. 2nd we let it go a little but it was pretty even. I thought at this stage, well we are here and in touch, will we turn it around in the third like we did early in all those early season matches where we were in the same half time position. Well we didn't and played crap but at least we weren't down all day like against the tigers and melbourne and the saints.
It sounded like we started to let them "dictate the terms", and you know where that starts, in the ruck and the midfield.
We are missing a bit of class and grunt at the moment (holland, cara, maxy, and bloody richards being injured again don't help, presti too), so without this extra bit of cream we are being beaten by middle rung teams. In a fairly even competition it doesn't take much to be shown up; All bar adelaide have had some poor form this season.
The once small gap between our first and second tiers has widened again, what happened to those guys? i think it's just self belief, they were playing to their capacity and supporting each other and now it's just the error ridden scrappy efforts that happens when you are playing catch up / keep up football.
Well have the wheels fallen off?
i'd still say no at this stage. Remember where we were last year, and the majority of nicksters would have picked us to finish at 6-9th if we had a good year. We have some big tests, but all is not lost, it can turn around in the blink of an eye. Holland (bye morrison) and Presti will be back next week, maxy and richards should be back for Adelaide, T.Cloke might have even found some form down at willi. J.cloke was good today and swan might be back at his best next week. (just hope tarks, lonie, bj and o'b are too)
We have shown that we are capable of playing an irresistible brand of attacking footy, and it's not as if we have been shown up a la 1997 (we have simply being playing poorly) - it can and will come back and we may still cause a number of surprises when we are fielding a close to full strength team come finals time.
I'm pi$$ed off like the rest of you, and puzzled by some of the coaching recently - but still believe that all is boding well for the future. The boys will lift for the match next week, plus the side should look a little different. don't write us off yet.
And my star sign said i was going to have a great day!
Never been so frustrated with the footy before. Tarrant is going to explode sooner or later... hopefully with a bag of goals and not decking someone and getting 5 weeks. When Taz fires up, at the very least they put in a decent effort if they dont win.
Please Taz get your confidence back!!
And could all players please stop handpassing after taking a mark in the defensive 50.
Yeah in 2005 he was solid, like he was today - but before he was injured he was AA, just ask anyone who had him in their dreamteams/fantasy teams. I not knocking him insomuch as I'm saying he hasn't come back at the same level. Better than good players can return like there hasn't been any injury at all.
Well said, Cam. Swan has been serviceable since his return, but hardly the dynamic player he was in the first nine or ten weeks. We've missed his run off halfback.
Watch out Melbourne and the WB, u guys are next, the AFL wants NO vic teams any where near the top of the ladder
The Dogs already have enough injury woes!
Well have the wheels fallen off?
But the momentum has, at at the moment it's draining the confidence. I think it's time we played with reckless abandon once again and went all out attack down the middle.
Just saw the second half on Fox footy and the Pies ARE the weakest team in the competition by the length of Bourke Street.
When Freo can physically intimidate you are done - and that is what happened today.
I would bet that most of these players sleep with the lights on.
That is the worst I have ever seen a Black & White team attempt to play football.
Almost all the Dockers forwards were 1 on 1 today - yet Pebbles was always double and trippled.
Dids played well as did Pendles and the only time the ball was held in the forward 50 was when C1 was in there in the last quarter.
Taz is soft, soft, soft and absolutely useless when the ball hits the deck and reads the play like a Turkish menu. Cannot be played up the ground and his opponent kills us (ala Cameron Bruce).
OB cannot keep his feet at all and costs loads of turnovers - which would be nearly as many as Lica.
Josh cannot be played in the ruck as he is not physically capable and Sandilands absolutley flogged him in the ruck and when he had the bounce in the last quarter as Lica ran up an down on the one spot was comedy relief.
The Pies are sh*t scared at the moment of -
1. Turning the ball over and have resorted back to going around the boundary line and that allows the opposition to flood back (via the corridor) and if the Pies turn it over (which they do) the opposition players have a clear path to goal,
2. Physical contact - this team is marshmallow soft - even in the last 5 minutes the Dockers were giving it to Burns in our forward line !!
3. Their own shadows - our alternate jumper should have a yellow streak down the back and a white surrender flag on the front.
I have no doubts that after the Richmond smashing (where the Pies once again got their skirts back) MM would have challenged each and every one of the players to step up and show what they are made of.
To which the entire team has failed dismally twice in a row.
These players play with no pride, passion or endeavour (guts) and are a very sad representation of the once proud and feared club that wore the Black & White with pride.
Wholesale changes for next week or we will be belted by 100+ points and a 9 and 13 season is still a distinct possibility.
Good: The kids continue to show improvement and commiment, slight return to form for Ant, Taz, Dids (not enough though).
Bad: Rucks raped, murdered and dumped. Mids oh, dear, looked like the return of the 'plod squad'. Licca sadly out of touch, Lones, Roids, O'Bree, Rhyce seemingly going backwards. Burns and Bux are still champions but there's a touch of the 'tired old men' about them these days. Leon has gone back into his shell.
Ugly: Tarks/JClo and MM has to take a lot of the blame for leaving them there to get murdered no matter what spin he puts on it. Cannot believe we didn't have one alternative to Tarks on Farmer! What does that say about your confidence in your players. JClo tried damned hard all day and actually did some very nice things but was out-classed/out of his depth on Pav.
One bright spark: Pendles looks like he is goin to be a beauty doesn't he, hope he keeps it up because the future looks very bright indeed. Thomas also has enormous talent and should only get better.
I'd give Licca a rest and Davies, Rowe, T. Cloke Egan should all be considerd this week. I'd seriously also rest Neon and consider resting some of the plod squad but doubt we'll do that.
I didn't see the whole game, but I did see the ball kicked long to Rocca only twice. On the first occasion Rocca took the mark in a pack of 5 players and kicked the goal from 35. The second occasion, he bought the ball to the ground and Didak kicked the goal from the boundary.
