Can tell you there is no chance in hell of that happening nowMagpie Since 1986 wrote:We need to drop Travis Cloke and Egan, everything Cloke touched turned to crap, and I still can't believe he dropped that chest mark in the 2nd quarter when it was delivered lace out. Jason should definately be in next week, sure there wont be a lack of potential dropped players in an effort like that

With all due respect for Wakes, he probably wasn't required this afternoon. Neither was TC. We went in too top heavy, similar to the 2003 Grand Final, and paid the price. Would Morrison's bigger body have made the difference? No. Probably ok to switch him for Swan, but I'd have preferred to keep Dale Thomas in.eddiesmith wrote:Tough footballers should play in the wet, thats why I cant believe Thomas and Morrison were left out
Broke our backs in 1997 with four gaosl in round 18 against the Saints as a full forward.Presti#1Fan wrote:Wakes at center half forward was interesting tho... during the last.
We miss Holland's grunt in the midfield, he'd have been worth his weight today. Ditto Maxy.
A short rundown:
Davis: Unseen after 3/4, probably something to do with his leg injured in the Newman incident. Not the worst when on.
Lonie: Hardly sighted from what I saw on TV. Conditions didn't suit, but still...
Didak: Good after half time, the sort of conditions generally suit him. Good by foot when others weren't, not as dangerous as normal.
Buckley: What more can you say. Play him in the midfield as much as possible, he still cuts it.
Clement: Clean, but not an overall factor. Good rebound off halfback.
O'Bree: Didn't fire much at all on an afternoon that seemed to have his name written all over it.
Wakelin: Was solid at CHF in the final term, and generally ok. Probably wasn't required on a day for smalls.
Egan: Quiet.
Pendlebury: Didn't recieve a run until late, hard to call.
Burns: Very prolific without being damaging.
Licuria: Ditto Burns. Won a fair bit of the ball but didn't hurt the Tigers with it.
Tarrant: Although conditions didn't suit, and the Channel Nine commentry crew didn't think the conditions suited him, he probably should have done more. Just wish he'd work on his kicking for goal. Yes, it was wet and slippery, but it just kills us when all the good work is undone.
R.Shaw: One of our best, particuarly in the first half. Very prolific, look forward to the second half of the year.
Rocca: Our only semi-dangerous key forward, at least he scored three goals to keep somewhat in the race for the Coleman Medal.
Lockyer: Busy without being damaging.
Fraser: Hardly sighted, although 19 hitouts is a solid effort.
Johnson: Our best by a street, ran hard, created and was one to hit his targets. Fantastic effort.
T.Cloke: Reletively quiet. Conditions didn't suit, and isn't a ruckman yet.
Prestigiacomo: Good in defense.
Swan: Not sure why he wasn't selected originally. When on, used it nicely and played on from his marks. We've missed him of late.
H.Shaw: Busy early before tapered off.
O'Brien: Patchy, and reported. Not the worst.

Yeh just read your post on the Williamstown page about Cameron being injured, disappointing - any word on how serious it is?eddiesmith wrote:Can tell you there is no chance in hell of that happening nowMagpie Since 1986 wrote:We need to drop Travis Cloke and Egan, everything Cloke touched turned to crap, and I still can't believe he dropped that chest mark in the 2nd quarter when it was delivered lace out. We don't need Jason in the team, we already had too many tall defenders today and Jason isn't going to get a game ahead of Presti, Wakes or Clement. Jason cannot play ruck.
We do need a Cam Cloke type though, we need another ruckman, Fanning is all we have left if Richards and C2 are now injured and if you were honest in your assessment of Fanning then doesn't sound like he will get a game. So I guess Fraser will be on his own yet again. At least we are playing the only team in the league with a worse ruck line up than us - St Kilda.
Hopefully Thomas and Holland are back in the side, give us a bit more quality run in the midfield.
Time to forget about this horrid performance.

I've got three mates all Richmond barrackers, and one went to the game. I'm just waiting for the inevitable 'phone calls...such is life...

Fair dinkum J26, call it as it is. Half these blokes were terrible.Johnson#26 wrote:With all due respect for Wakes, he probably wasn't required this afternoon. Neither was TC. Rested on their laurels from the week earlier - would have thought Melb was a wake up to these blokes!
MM was out coached - he is a fool for going in top heavy and then letting them push back hard on us.
For a team that has lost 2 GF's we look to give up pretty easy or have an inability to apply intensity for 4 qtrs week after week.
As I have said for a while we are still only the 5th or 6th best side in the league. Challenge is to see if we can maintain that over next few weeks.

Just have to vent my spleen (again)....what a disgraceful performance. Couldnt adjust to the conditions, werent desperate enough, soft tackles, couldnt win one on one, terrible disposal, turnovers...oh my god, that was one the hardest games Ive had to sit through (and I have seen alot of crap games over the years!)
Has thrown a top 4 spot into doubt - we really had to win this game. So, so very disappointing as we just didnt turn up to play today. Hard to believe I was watching the same team that I saw play last Sat. night. Appalling and a debacle. If we cannot beat teams like Richmond, we are in trouble.
PS. At least I had some good news today (Im an auntie - again!! - yay!) Off to the hospital now for some joy I think....

Bad game, but those writing us of as a top four chance are being a bit premature, we are equal third with Melbourne and the Dogs and with the West Coast loss we are still only a game outside top two! We play the eagles at docklands in a few weeks and if we knock them off then who knows, assuming of course we beat the Saints and the Dockers in the next fortnight.
Stkilda looms as such a massive game, lots of possible changes in the lineup for us... exciting!
oh, and Rhyce Shaw is a champion!

shit on in the ruck.
destroyed at the stoppages.
backup ruckman? NEGATIVE
midfield rotations? NEGATIVE
amature team selection? YOU BETCHA
making top 4 now will be a very good effort.
the likelyhood though... is not that great. WB and Dees would have to break down to keep us in there.
even Essendon and Carlton will be treating their games against us as Grand Finals. They have games to spare.

Egan and Cloke were disgraceful, Their games were as bad as I ve ever seen from AFL players. O'Brien wasnt much better.
Licuria, O'Bree, Lockeyer and Lonie either stuffed it up or didnt go hard enough everytime they went near the ball
Other than BJ and to a lesser extent Buckley, Rocca and Presti we were terrible.
Why the F**k was Wakelin playing CHF? Infact why was he even playing in those conditions
