Pretty terrible today. Most players were very flat. We are better than that.

We were out coached and out played...

Lonie is too soft...

Morrison to slow...

Why didn't MM make some moves in the 3rd Q when we were getting flogged?

Why do we play defensive football all of a sudden, when we have been the most attackign side all year?

Was there something wrong with bucks? If not why was he never put into the game?

Things just don't add up?

Apart from Swanny Holland and the skills of Carra. The importance of Maxi has to be said. 22 goals on us with Presti and Clemo playing decent games is too much I know we lost Wakes early but we still needed a medium size player thats tough to give a contest back there!

Well I know I picked Melbourne today but I would never have thought it would have been that easy.

The bottom line is that there is quite a few guys on our list that struggle when there is any physical pressure in a game and Melbourne are the most physical team going around.

Malthouse is smart enough to know that come finals time when the pressure heats up these guys are going to go even more MIA and I refer to Rowe and Lonie in particular.

Swan and Holland were massive losses because both of them are terrific in close when the heat is on, there are others who we know enough about now to make the call and throw them inot the do not play basket.

Melbournes young players were great - Bate is a genuine rising star candidate, Thomas was just ok and Pendlebury is not ready although I think he will be a very good player long term.

a few other negatives that were noticable, Obree's disposal still creates havoc for the receiver and Fraser for a guy closer to 7 foot is still thown off the ball way too easily, Trav Cloke has not improved from Anzac ay 2005.

Was the loss we had to have I think. I wasnt confident all day about this one. Very disappointing - basically we were outclassed all over the ground. Apart from a few (Clemo, Presti,,anyone else?) we didnt win many one on one contests. They killed us in the middle and clearances from what I could see.

Melbourne were just too good and a class above us today. However, I am not panicking yet - probably a good time to have a week off and re-group, and get some players back. Maybe the loss will do us good in the long run?? Could be a v ery good reality check for some of our boys, and maybe the media will stop talking premierships and other such rubbish. As I have been saying all year, its a a LONG year and anything can still happen...however Sydney is looming as a VERY big game for us.

Oh, and another thing...what was with all the Melb players running around the boundary high-fiving supporters?? Whats that all about?? I mean, you'd think they'd just won the grand final with that sort of goings-on..... yeah, lets just give em the cup already shall we??

Today just wasnt our day...
Not once did the ball bounce our way...
It was clearly their day, you cant tell me Yze completly knew what he was doing 3/4 of those goals he kicked, i mean one from the centre square, one out of mid air... it really wasnt happening

every team has their hickups, forget about it and move on

A black day for our boys, but at least us supporters had a good hour and 45 minutes of game time to prepare ourselves for the eventual loss

In all seriousness a few points stand out atm:

* Pendles and Thomas will be good players, Rowe and Yakka didn't really get near it so can't be judged, although Rowe's disposal seemed fine to me.

* Fraser and Didak are really cementing their spots as members of the elite players in the league

* Morrison probably squandered his last chance at AFL footy, he was supposed to be the cool experienced head in defence but was shocking both composure and skill-wise.

* I have always been a fan of Lonie but his great start to the season has completely faded and for the last month he has been a passenger. Also, this has been done to death... but he is just so so so soft. I say that as an unabashed hater-of-physical-contact myself, and with no offence intended, but he I just dont think he can stand big-game pressure. Leon also went missing again in a big match, though with him I don't think it's the physicality it may be more of a mental thing in his case. Not sure what the verdict is for these two players.

* MM cracked again under pressure... Without knowing what happened and the status of the various players' health it seems stupid to ask this but is it possible he panicked/froze in the third? Why wasn't Buckley moved into the centre? Ditto for Rocca/Didak? I just don't understand it seemed like we just sat back and watched it happen.

* We desperately need a backup game plan.

* Lastly and most seriously, we have lost all 3 games against the only 3 teams who are serious contenders this year... I don't know whether to write it off as bad luck, but if it were another team i think we would be questioning them seriously...

God help us, we were starting to believe our own hype. This should hopefully be a reality check and we get back to playing good solid footy. Even so I will not be happy again unless we beat at least two of St Kilda, Sydney and Richmond.

As stated we got smashed in the ruck, which makes you wonder how fit Rocca was.
Surely MM would have thrown him in there to give Fraser more of a rest.
Fraser was burnt out by 3/4 time.

Too many cats (downhill skiers) in the team.
Just shows we need to be full strength, depth is lacking at this stage of our club development - still some dead wood to remove.

A very dissapointing day today. Leon was good. Presti & Clement completely owned Neitz & Robbo. But everyone else was very ordinary.

They didn't man up and let the Dees have easy, cheap possessions and run. Was anyone actually on Davies at all?!

The guys looked tired. They need the extra week's rest, that's for sure.
