Not the end of the season, but pretty disappointing nonetheless. Who'd have thought Swan & Brodie are the keys to our side?

The thing that hurts about this game is three fold - we have no depth in our midfield, our disposal under pressure is awful and every coach know nows there is a style of footy that beats us.

We will find out how good MM and coaching team are bc we have the Swans and Tigers to come and I would argue they are as good as exponents of that holding the ball up and not kicking to a contest as anyone.

Daniher orchestrated it beautifully today - his players carried it out to a aplomb as well. They set their win up out of the middle thru Johntone, Read, McDonald etc and never looked back. We did not even win a qtr for the day. Their tackle pressure was extreme and we just wilted.

No point pointing to umps - they were fine. No point looking at the number of kids as well. They had Miller, Moloney, Whelan, McLean out and Sylvia in the twos. Their young kids in Johnson, Bartram, Jamar, Dunn and Bate were much better than ours when the game was on.

Our skill, decision making and ability to make tackles stick really bothers. Lonie, Morrison, Johnson, Lockyer, Davis, Pendles, thomas could not hold on. In terms of skill the only time Morrison hit someone with the ball was when he ran into one of our blokes.

Stats will show Licca, Burns and Obree got reasonable footy but they did not hurt their opponents at all.

MM clearly chose to get something out of the day by starting Yakka and Pendles in the middle and Thomas on the wing. Pendles and Thomas came into the game - Yakka ok.

We need Swan, Holland and Rhyce in this side.

Our best were Fraser, Didak, Clement and Neitz.

Our worst were Morrison, Rowe, Rocca, Buckley, Tarrant. Have some sympathy for Tazz and rocca early as the ball coming in was awful. Davis was terrible in the second - would not chase etc.

Very big two weeks coming up to see if we can cope with a style of play thats beaten us twice.

At least one thing is still true.

Neitz is still Presti's bitch.

No need to panic. Outclassed on the day. In fact I'm surprised Melbourne didn't win by 80.

Everything went right for them and wrong for us.

To me the team looked tired and lacked the zest of last week. Perhaps last week's game took a toll on them?

If you asked me at the beginning of the year that we would be 8-3 at the halfway mark, I would tld you that you wouldhave rocks in your head.

There is one outcome.....Morrison must GO

No dowbt we missed them Cam, I wan't to see the game first but If the players were flat coupled with too many changes no doubt put us on the backfoot. Sounded like Melbourne played great footy = loss.
Some good signs though Bucks Frazer frustrated they did'nt drop the bucket!! :(

Well, what can we say.... I guess I knew a loss was due sooner or later. However, I did not expect such a bad loss. It was just one of those days... we haven't had a shocker all year and today, well, was a shocker. They said on the broadcast in only 3 of Roccas all time games has he not taken a mark - who the hell could of seen that coming?? That pretty much just summed up the day, plus that bullshit goal Yze kicked out of his arse, that only happens in games like this. Oh, and Wakes injury... shit, the more i write the more depressed im getting!

We were definately beaten by the better team on the day, Melbourne are playing out of their skins at the moment - but, I really do doubt they will keep it together for the rest of the year.

As for our boys, jeez, we need that mid year break. Looked tired, scrappy, made uncharacteristic mistakes, mainly because of the Dees great pressure, but some were blatant skill errors, something we havent witnessed this year. Time to re-load, get back some injured players, and hit Sydney much the same as the saints did - (maybe prey for rain!??)

Positives:

Some of the young guys, whilst out of their league, showed signs of what we can look forward to in the future. Pendles, I believed played a great game. Rowe too played okay. I think Thomas needed to come back after the mid year break.

Clement killed Robbo, and if our midfield wasnt so comprehensively beaten, Neitz wouldnt have kicked any as I thought Presti was great. Fraser was serviceable on his own.

Negatives:

Pretty much everything else.

As maligned as Richards is, we really missed genuine back-up for Fraser.

Please never play Chad Morrison again... and Robert Walls, I hate you, your commentary lacks any real thought, you state the obvious, and I could tell you loved us getting beaten today - UP YOURS.

Go Pies.

All I want, is to beat a team of note (top 8 that isn't decimated with injuries re bulldogs).
Lonie continues to be beaten and is getting most of his kicks in junk time goes missing when the heat is on.

On a positive Didak is still in a purple patch and pendles played well (could of went a bit harder against Davey though) and as usual our defence played well for the amount of pressure it was under.

Woeful effort alround, Didak looked good, I am not sure how many others we can consider as being good for the Pies today, hopefully the break will do us some good.

I can't understand the absolute defensive style of play we began and ended the game with today. We flooded and appeared to have no faith in our forwards whatsoever. It just didn't work and made us look negative.

If we have to drop a game, now's not a bad time to do it, but I just didn't like todays game plan at all. Even when we got a break and found some space there was nobody in our forward line to kick it to.

The only positive is that I know we're better than that.

Disappointing to see no fight back. It was a loss, hopefully they come back next week against Sydney. If they don't, lots of questions will be asked.

However this round, we lost, it all matters if we can get up next week now.

Was even more interesting the the 3rd quarter where Walls was calling for Bux to go forward and Taz to go back into the goal square - as his opponent was killing us.

What did MM do - nothing.

I think that MM left some guys in postions to test them and see who (if any) would stand up.

Great games from Burns, Jimmy, Didak, Josh and Presti.

Cheesey started off well and fell away badly.

The guys did not look 'timed' for the game today and the Dees were ripe.

Overall I think that is the best the Dees could play and the worst that we could - so we must learn from this experience.

We do need another ruck option - C2 or Stretch - must be played.

C3 did enough to stay in the team - as did Daisy and Pendles.

Morrison must go and Rowe is the softest on the list.
