Melbourne look to be harder at the ball than any other side going around and with our two best performed and well built mids out we could struggle around the centre.
I wouldnt bother with a hard tag on Mclean as he is so talented that he will get the ball anyway but I would try to tag out Johnston and Bruce as they are their two most creative players and set up alot of the play.
White is an elite ruck and good around the ground so we may need our rucks to play accountable football which is something you dont see alot of these days.
As for the guys named as possible ins this week I would probably look at playing Yakka as a priority and definately leave out Rowe as Melbournes hardness and pressure football will expose each and every one of Rowes weaknesses.
Tough game but it just looked like we may be slightly off our best last week which does happen over a season and I cant see us getting the demons on Monday.

Rowe showed last week toughness and ability to not sherk under pressure. He'll do well, very talented young man.

Will be a great game but i feel that the Dees will choke and the Pies will rise to the occasion. They rely too much on Neitz and Robertson firing and our defense will be the key. With Whelan and Brown out our attack should get over 100 pts but we need to shut down Davey if we want the 4 premiership points.
Also clearances will be the key and Holland's a massive loss there but O'Bree and Lockyer should fill in for him.

Pies by 34 pts.
You might be right with your selections, but I don't think we can have 3 big blokes on the interchange. We need at least 2 midfielders on the bench, in order to enable us to use our rotations to full effect. I reckon one of Wakes, Richards, or Cloke will make way for Yakka.

This is going to be very hard to win. Cara, Holland and Swan are big outs.
Personally I think it is Wakelin and Fraser that are sore. Fraser was not right last week.
I think we probably have an advantage in the backs but their fwds are very dangerous with Neitz, Davey, Robertson, Green and Bruce running thru there. With Maxy out I think they would be feeling they can cause some mismatches. I often think though with Melbourne they sometimes get lost going fwd and hence it may be a big positive that Neitz kicked a bag las week as they will probably go hunting for him. If Presti can lock him down then they might frustrate themselves.
Our fwds should monster them - Tazz, Bucks, Rocca and Didak with Davis floating around should really pull their pants down. I think the trick will be whether Mick is happy to leave Bucks, Dids and Davis for long periods in the fwds. Certainly Dids who has created so many goals and Bucks who has kicked them.
The rucks are crucial - if Fraser does not play then Richards/Trav would be monstered by White and crucially give the Dees good supply. Fingers crossed Fraser plays. Whilst he is maligned by many, we are so much better when he is in the side.
The mids - they are stronger here in the talent dept but we are mentally stronger. Interesting to note Bruce alluded to this thru the week. Hopefully Lica, Burns, OBree, Morrison, Thomas can control the middle without requiring to much from Bucks, Dids or Davis.

Bit controversial but thinking Wakes, Trav and maybe Richards should play. Logic, if Fraser not right he will need cover as will Presti and the backs if Robertson or Neitz go nuts. Would like to see JC in for cover on Robertson and Dunn but I love his toughness and always want him in.
Their big four in Bruce, Trav Johnstone, McLean and Green will be key. For us that means Lonie, Morrison, BJ and Daisy will be important. Big games required by Morrison who I think will get Bruce - Lonie next option. Also Lonie on Green with Morrison being next option on him or possibly Lockyer. If BJ can go with TJ then that will be massive.
If these blokes can hold up and Fraser plays we will win by a small margin.
Apparently Brock McLean is out.... did a hammy at training yesterday. Reported on 3aw this morning.
Geez, players going down left right and centre. Hope to god we get through unscaved tommorow at training. Its a shame both teams wont be at full strength.
McLean out of birthday clash
5:11:51 PM Sat 10 June, 2006
MELBOURNEfc midfielder Brock Mclean will not play against Collingwood in the Queens Birthday Monday clash due to a hamstring injury.
McLean, who has been in great form over the past few weeks injured a hamstring during a training run yesterday and will miss the next few weeks.
The injury is a huge loss to Melbourne ahead of the biggest match of the year at the MCG. Collingwood have made a number of changes due to injury earlier in the week,
It is expected that there will be a 80,000 strong crowd on Monday
