So how many for Charman's cheap shot?Culprit wrote:
Disgraceful and what was worse the umpires kept the game going. Caramellow was clearly in trouble. The umpires should be on report.
Also Rocca was awarded a free kick, the player was also reported and no 50 metre penalty was given. An even bigger joke.

I avoided finding out the scores until watching the internet replay - hard to resist but sure was worth it - sensational game. Those who say the team didn't play well don't really understand the level of pressure and close-down Brisbane applied. Brisbane also played surprisingly well - very snappy handball in close and good kicking skills. Good to see that people who don't understand the game that well can still get a lot of pleasure out of it!
As a commentator said Dids came of age, most dynamic and tireless midfield performance I've seen from him and is now a genuine leader.
Buckley also "came of age" as a forward. IT seemed that he tried to replace TAz and actually out-tazzed TAz. But the style of hard-leading play seemed to be inspired by Taz's style. I can't see why he couln't keep playing as a permanent forward for another 4 or 5 years along the lines of Bartlett, that would be great to see. Might even retain AFL standard to 40! Amusing reply when asked about the shanked shot in the last "Always replace the divots".
Pendlebury very impressive, very solid debut. Should learn a lot from his couple of blues esp the one getting caught that cost a goal. Should be given another chance next week, and if he repeats the same mistakes may not be quite ready yet but I doubt he will. Different sort of player to Thomas but looks like he will be just as good - what a draft! OUr runnign brigade is awesome this year what a meteoric improvement - great boost to run over them with only one on the bench and 3 runners lost.
Brisbane weren't even that dirty apart from those couple of "vigorous" incidents, almost seemed like OK blokes! What's the world coming to when you can't hate Brisbane? Of course you could argue they knew they couldnt' get away with it because they are no longer the steroid giants of yesteryear, so now they become relative nice guys. Just a theory.
Terrific game to watch, very exciting!

Very good win by the Pies and I am tipping there will loads of time in the video room this week - only on how we can improve on the little things.
Magic - the pre shot routine,
Presti - the awareness of when to go,
Stretch - to be aware of your player and where he is,
Taz - watch how No. 5 positions his opponent by not leading and just moving. How to take the perefect chest marks and overheads. The pre shot routine - by the numbers.
The team effort was fantastic and Pendles was great - just watch how he postioned himself and composure with the handballs - in the 3rd quarter Pendles (at the base of the pack) to Lica - kick to Bux in the square - mark - goal. This kid can be better than a Dal Santo and looks more like a faster version of the Pav - balance, skill and poise.
Stretch does look a good option and I think that now MM will keep him in the side and he can learn from each week.
Didaks poise and accuracy are unbelievable and now he is getting time to run through the midfield.
Josh played great for someone who was sick prior to the game and he is a really good tall forward option.
There were 5 things in the game that really stood out -
1. Bux showing how to play FF for half a game and kick 6,
2. Speed breaking the lines from HB through the center,
3. Winning the center clearances without an acknowldeged ruckman - i.e. the midfielders really did their jobs,
4. Didak and Pendles taking on 3 Lions in a loose ball contest and forcing it out of bounds,
5. Showing the Lions how we could actually defend and take the ball off teams if they went for the Flood and Chip Around options.
Great win - but our best is still a long way off.

The great sides win good games well and win 'ugly' when they have to -but they still win the clutch games.
Look at WCE & Sydney on the weekend.
This will be remembered as a pivotal game for Collingwood going forward and was a very important one to win.
So next week Taz comes straight in and maybe Rhyce or Thomas or Yakka or Rowe for Swan, who will be sorely missed for the next couple. Harry gets elevated or Jason comes in for Maxy you'd think.
Pendles should get another game and I'd ease Chad back to Willy although I highly doubt that we will, especially now with the injuries we've just copped.

not sure there is a matchup for Jase against the Dees with all thier small forwards and goalkicking mids, reckon Morrison and Pendlebury will stay in the team, Thomas will come back, Taz will come back and my guess is Davies in, unless they want to go left field and bring in one of Rhyce, Rowe, Yakka or Cook.
apart from the injuries to Maxy, Carrots and Swan I would hope for no changes, that sort of a win builds team spirit and should not be messed with by dropping blokes. I don't think it's the right time to bring Rhyce back, he is recovering from a knee reco, has been sick, and we are heading into two very important games, let him come back via Willi and hopefully get a game after the break.
reckon Thomas will be rested plenty enuff by now, young bodys tire quick but they recover quiker and he would be itching to get back out there, seems a good replacment for Carrots role on the ground.
darkhorse for a game against Dees might be the Booch, Yakka has been playing consistant footy at Willi and might add a bit of extra extraction power at the stoppages...
GO PIES!

Yeah maybe give Thomas another go - playing with his premiership teammate of last year could really give him a lift.rand corp wrote:The great sides win good games well and win 'ugly' when they have to -but they still win the clutch games.

Think the fans wanted that game 'almost' as much as the players!!!... Very enjoyable spectacle indeed!!!!! Can't wait to watch the replay & re-live it again!!!
Even better was Acker was dead in his tracks and wondered where Leon went.

It was hard earned and brillant we could have fallen apart but just kept on having a crack. for me Buckley was brillant along with Didak, Burns, Heater and Johno. I thought galloping Guy tried hard and Rocca had to work hard all night and stood up to it. Leon was good but had his chance to really torch aker. Presti was presti and worked hard all night in one of footy's toughest assignments great preparation for 'pea head' nietz. Overall we'll done. Don't ever admit defeat and spit in the eye of the devil.
