Our forward line needs to stand up in these big games and take some responsibility- if they had done this on saturday night, we win!

They also had about 15 more inside 50s than we did and we still lost by only 14 points.

To me this says our forward line was still very effective, despite our tarrant and didak having bad nights, our defensive 50 was ultra effective and our midfield was shaded by the best midfield in the comp at the ground they are built to run on. I'm glad Fraser took a step up. We aren't that far off in the midfield stakes. We only need to break even for inside 50s to beat any team in the comp.

those clearances at the end when we were buggered really killed us.

Tarrant didn't have that bad of a night he might of Goal wise but provided a very good target on the wing he bet his opponent on the lead every time and had at least 10m on him too.

Its his body work that lets him down although defenders allowed to get away with blue murder doesn't help and neither does some of the kicks to him in these situations.

One thing I noticed was our boys looked very angry about the loss after the game. I reallt hope they come out breathing fire on saturday night!

Agreed- would still like to see tarrant played up the ground more often, where he can use his pace to set up our forwards.I feel he is wasted on the forward line.MM should stick with anthony at full-forward(my opinion)
and leave the forward line open to give him every opportunity at a one out contest.

Lets hope they send the pussy cats back to the cattery with their tails between their legs.
They will need to cover millburn- he was very damaging on the weekend.

These stats show that we were lucky to lose by only 14 points. If the Eagles had kicked more accurately it would have been 4-5 goals. However, with Travis and Bucks in the side, we probably would have won. Having said that, MM did the right thing resting Bucks. Our aim is to win the flag, not win this particular game or that. Bucks has got to be cherry ripe at the right end of the season.

Lonie2 was traded to Port. Not Drafted. Didn't he?
Yup. Part of the Pickett deal, if I remember correctly.

Against an unfit King and an inexperienced Mark Blake, it's time for Richards to return next week.

back in london today

i saw the game at the stadium bar in bali with one other pie and two very nervous toasters (everyone else was watching the FA cup)...very happy with the performance, all that really separated the teams was judd and/or the 4 goals in the first 10 minutes.

i felt blessed that on my holiday in melbourne i was at 3 wins and left the country with the pies on top of the ladder..ha, maybe i shouldn't have come back!

True.
Alot of this was created by the fact that we were smashed in the ruck and Cox and Seaby had quite a few effective taps giving our midfield no chance at all and the Eagles mids first use of the ball.
We need a ruckman who atleast can compete and nullify all day if he cant like Mckee did so well a few years ago.

Tazza looks like a player that keeps telling the coach that he want's to play up the ground....his strengths are the quick lead into space..the accelleration leaving his opponent for dead..yet he continues to try & out bussle his opponents for the ball..and when failing..is starting to Squeel for frees...he's too good for that shit...maybe a Rusling down the track may alleviate him of his worries...any one for that matter...even bloody Walker....If we had a decent Ruckman..a true ruckman...Josh would be great there....
