Thats a fact that I've been repeating to the Wee Girls and Fockers supporters for years. The travel factor is such that every home game is played at a huge advantage such they can expect to win virtually every home game. The Victorian clubs do not have such an advantage over other Victorian clubs and can probably expect to win a little over half of their home games. Is there any real advantage of playing a home game at the MCG against the other 3 teams that call the MCG their home. The remaining Vic clubs do not have the travel disadvantage that they have when they come to Perth.wo5 wrote:no victorian team has beat west coast at subi in over 4 years. its not a big loss
If the Fockers weren't so shitt then they would be annual finals contenders also.

That's my very point - unless he's as good as Presti or Maxi one-on-one he's finished at our club. There is no room these days for more than one or two dour defenders in a team - he has got to be a rebounding runner, a key position player, or as flexible as a Chad Cornes. And if you think height is an issue in key positions these days, you've missed one of the most notable trends in the game over the last two years.chicken wing wrote:Yeah right...Jason Cloke is being taught to grow several centimetres taller by being played in the ruck and key position. He is not a creative player, he is a dour defender.pietillidie wrote:Totally disagree, it's the inverse situation of Lonie - Lonie needed to learn defensive skills, Jason needs to learn creative skills. There is no room in the side for the old Jason as all non-key defenders are required to run, create and clear to advantage these days.chicken wing wrote:Good effort tonight...we are the real thing. Gotta feel proud of some of those guys. Josh was brilliant. O'Bree, Lonie, Swan, Shaw, Neon all very good.
However, what is MM doing to Jason Cloke? Putting J Cloke at CHF and, of all places, the ruck, is ridiculous and is also destroying any chance the guy had of resurrecting his career. Josh needed a back-up tonight...surely C Cloke would have been a better option. One day someone like J Cloke will sue their club because of career-threatening shit like the moves MM seems to continually pull on him.
That being said, I would've selected C3 over C1 without question, but C3 may have been rested much like Bucks.
Hence MM is trying to save the guy's career at the club, not ruin it. The next step is for him to become the dour defender at another club, but MM likes to give players plenty of time to develop and I for one hope he does.

Out of curiosity how do you guys rate Maxys game? I've been struggling to work out how the kid is going all year.
I thought Hanson was starting to carve him up toward the end there.
BJ I felt you were very generous re Cara and Didak. Doesn't seem you have to do much to get into the votes these days.

Was a good performance by the boys, great to see them fight it out till the death.
We were carved to shreads in the ruck, 36 hitouts to 15 the Eagles way and may have to have another look at that.
Wakelin was simply outstanding tonight and easily our best, Johnson is now a topline performer and played up to it again.
Swan continues to impress, Burns still has it and Leon Davis always looks as though he loves playing over there.
Although we were disappointing in the ruck tonight Fraser worked himself into the ground and looks as though he is starting to get back on track.
Presti will lose sleep over Lynch kicking five goals on him - Lynch is lucky to get five in a season let alone a match.
Overall a good effort and there are some promising signs.

Proud of the boys thats for sure. The Eagles fans only start getting on them when they are on top, us Magpies chanted till the end. All in all a top game without Bucks and didnt even struggle!!!! The Captain I think would have made a difference but who knows? Will there be room in the side for Bucks next week? (JOKES)

I meant to highlite the Presti bit but ti didn't work. What I wanted to say is what I've said for years, Presti is TOO slow for the fast leading forwards like lynch lloyd gehrig etc and will always get a bag kicked on him. The team performed very well and Josh Fraser deserves the 3 brownlow votes for his lone hand in the ruck and subsequent hammering around the ground of the 2 weagle ruckmen. We probably lost the game in the first 5 mins of the last term when an absolutely exhausted Josh was rested. We have a lot to be proud of and I reckon we can look to the future with a great deal of optimism. And the F**#??N Maggott umpires done us over big time
