From my armchair, pies give carlton the blues

Post by Ed from WA »

I always dread when one of our games is on channel nine, because that means its delayed in WA.as a rule.
Its almost impossible to avoid hearing a score and ruining it for me so each week i either just listen on radio or as in this weeks case put myself into a coccoon until 2pm when 9 decide i can watch the pies v bloos.
I dont know how those in the northern states cope as they are treated even worse by nine.

Anyway i switch on the telly on the dot of 2pm to see a story about the mine rescue and the death of richard carleton, then at about 5 past its tony jones telling us were a welcome to nines extended coverage of sunday footy.

I have no idea who won the toss or who was on the bench as the game some how started with only 7 mins to play in the first term with the scores on 4 points to us and 2 to them.
then it was a goal to fevola, one to tarks and bucks and at 2.11pm it was qtr time.

The second qtr also began with 7 minutes to play and a goal to the bloos and its a point the diff, then Brodie runs into the hot spot to accept a pass from TAZ and we go 7 up.
Wayne harmes revisted the G as an obviously out of bounds ball was whacked to the bloos fwd square, but unlike that fateful day in sept ,this time the bloos missed.
then stevens goaled for them as gary lyon tells me that Taz.Bucks and Ant have had 7 touches between them for the game and it was all square at 24 all.

Switched over to Sky to watch the goodwood sprint at the races.did my dough again, return to find we had goaled and i was just in time to see tarks dob another.

The bloos have the run of the ball but squander several chances.lucky for us.
Rocca is dragged,Bucks may as well also be as he kicks out on the full twice in a row.
Then Tc goes to ground,4 bloos put a saddle on him and incredibly its holding the ball says the scump.
Apparently a legal tackle isnt required in this modern game?
Bloos goal, swan shoots and misses what he should have nailed then with 0.1 secs to play fevola snaps a goal and the bloos hit the cows at half time. 5.9 to 5.7.

The actual time is now 2.26,
In a world record for 9 they have reduced a half of footy into 19 minutes which included 4 ad breaks.
I must say it looks like i didnt miss much really, but thats not the point.
They promote rivalry round and then only show bits of the most hated rivals going at it.!!!! a pox on nine i say.

anyway after another 15 ads its time for the second half and im only on my third stubby.
Burns is everywhere in the first minute,he has the ball on a string.
Lonie attempts one of his sooper goal specials which Ant marks and bananas thru,Lika snaps a pt,Leon shows great strength and poise as he bounces off 2 bloos shoots from the pocket, daks could have let it go thru but to be safe he grabbed it and goaled.
The bloos player waite is freakish at times, lucky for us he cant kick.
Whitnall is giving Ant a bath, and for some reason Ant tries to take one handers all the time,
there is a reason God gave him 2 hands,he should use them.
Which he does 2 secs after i wrote that and took a chest mark and goaled.
Leon is going great and marks and goals from 60 and the what now seemscompulsory third qtr magpie charge is on again.
Leon again delivers long and straight and swan goals, the daks dobs another as the diced oranges and cordial are brought out.
7 goals to one in the 3rd qtr appears to have iced the game.

Ant starts the last term by trying another one hander which goes thru for a pt.
Taz goals from 40,Johnno goals while held by 3 bloos and its curtains for the bloos id say.

One of my hobbies is watching carlton lose, today is a great day,but lets not get ahead of ourselves fans.
A few yrs back we were top after round 6 and missed the 8,
Anyway the burial of the bloos took place at the G and we slammed on 9 goals, leon even had time to tell us again that there was a wicket at the cricket,as he raised his finger.
Not sure what game he was talking about, but it was an avalanche.
21.12=138 to the pies 9.12=66 to the enemy

From what i was allowed to watch i gave 3 votes to Lika 2 to leon and 1 to brodie

Others may have done better in the bits nine didnt want me to see but i cant comment on what i dont know.

Ive got my tickets to subi and also the pre game function next week for my biennial look at the pies in the flesh.
