I really want to see Pendles debut as soon as possible so I am all for it. However, MM has talked about 'protecting' him from AFL so they don't hinder his development too early, now you'd think since they didn't play him against a weak team like Carlton (the team that would require the least protection against for a youngster) there is no way MM would want him to play against the Eagles interstate. I hope I am wrong but I don't think we will play him this week.

Pendlebery is one of a number of players who are pressing strongly for promotion to the seniors. The difficult part is determining who should be dropped to make way for them. Someone will probably come in as another ruckman this week, meaning someone will certainly be dropped. Who else should be dropped to make way for Pendles and Rhyce Shaw?

Not this week. It may seem odd, but the way to beat the eagles isnt to play your most talented outsiders, your fastest midfielders or your flashiest midfielders. We all know eagles have these players, it is not wise to try and match them and make it a shoot out. The way to beat the eagles to to throw your toughest, hardest tackling, smartest 'footballers' onto the field and intimidate the eagles midfielders. They rely on space and freedom. Take away their space, they shit themselves. They have no forward to bomb to under pressure, so they buggarise with the pill. Collingwood atleast knows that it can boot it long under pressure and you have Rocca and Tarrant who will bring the ball to ground, or Buckley, Cloke and Didak who will tackle hard and stop the ball coming out.
Eagles rely on their midfielders running forward, picking up loose touches and kicking easy goals. Take away their freedom, they will crumble.
No way we should drop any of our current squad for a debutant who is an outsider at the moment. When you have a winning formula, dont alter it.

There's more to life than footy.........just not much more.
You're probably right, but let's not forget that we beat them last year playing the very game you're suggesting we not play. It was a shootout, and "outside" players like Egan were instrumental in our victory.DaVe86 wrote:Not this week. Anyone falls into the trap of getting into a free flowing shootout with us is doomed to fail. The only team to beat us this year was able to do so as they shut down the fee flowing game. For a brief period in the third it seemed we were going to blow them away. I hope the eagles take us on and throw caution into the wind.DaVe86 wrote: We all know eagles have these players, it is not wise to try and match them and make it a shoot out.
