Some action from Monday's sellout:
3 votes go to:
Taz, Pebs, Rogan, Stretcher, OB, Tarks, Wakes, Maxy, Dutch, Mag, Dids, Trav, Heater, Clem, Bucks, Carrots, Sparky, Licca, Johno, Lones, Swany and Our Arry
2 votes to MM.
1 vote for Sav.
North have a healthy bank balance thanks to the generous donation made by the 35,000 Magpie fans that attended. If they want to continue to receive the benefits our our benevolence then they better shut up about the jumpers.
Once again we were lifted by the efforts of our second stringers; OB, Lones, Stretcher, Tarks, Maxy, Johno, Swany, Sparky, Haz and Heater were all outstanding.
It was one thing for the forwards to blame poor service for the last two years, but the mids can also blame the lack of decent options to kick to. We seem to have resolved both issues and the boys look like they are really enjoying their footy now.
The monkey is off the back I think.
I do want to make special mention of some exceptional efforts:
Heater: 15 pos and 1 goal
Swany: 22 pos and 2 goals 1
Agent 86: 26 pos and 10 marks (If Taz wasn't so good would he have got BOG?)
Stretcher: 15 HO and 5 marks
But the best stat of all...Chris Tarrant:
13 kicks
5 hp
18 pos
8 marks
1 ho
6 tackles
6 goals 0 behinds

Why Licca, LoneStar?
I knew he'd prove me right.:)
Haven't seen the game yet, can't wait until I get the video - will post more. Carna' Pies!
Johnson #26....this one is for you......Richards was great today. His ruckwork was very clever...he was a better option than Fraser today...frase was jumping too early. Richards was hitting to advantage which was pleasing. The only criticism is that he allowed David Hale to have 3 shots on goal in the last quarter...his work around the ground has improvement left. However his ruckwork was spot on and he has earnt his spot after todays effort. 15 hitouts is a good return, especially since it was evenly shared with Rocca and Fraser.

Great win by the whole team , Richards rucked very well but lets not get too ahead of ourselves (Johnno and dave ) wait until he has to stand up against quality rucks but none the less his tap work was brilliant.
It's going to be very hard for players to get a gig if the seniors keep playing like that , Licca has been quite the last 3 games but does create opportunities for others with his work rate tackling hard running forward ect. maybe he has a niggle that needs a weeks rest ??

Harvey is an overrated hack reciever. He wouldn't know a hard-ball-get or a contested possession if it kicked him in the Niagra's.STOKA35 wrote:Also we shut down ... harvey.

I've always considered Richards the better long term option as a ruckman, because of his added height and his great palming of the ball. On the other hand I've always thought Cam provides greater options around the ground, particularly when he goes down forward. However, with our current forward line functioning so well, Cam's presence down there is not really needed. If he can stay injury free, Richards will certainly secure the number one ruck spot in our best side. Regardless of how well he performs for Willi Cam will probably have to wait for an injury to Taz, Pebbles, Travis, Richards or Josh to get a game. He's clearly the next big man in line, so his time will no doubt come at some stage. It's a great position for our side to be in, with such depth of talent.uey wrote:Another week!??!??MK wrote:Well done RICHARDS. I know Cam kicked 4 in the 2s but he is never ever going to take Richards spot whilst fit. Please get over it. Write to the club and ask Cam out - he may well fancy you too. A nice restaurant and a bottle of wine - you might be half a chance. Take Dave86 and a few other Richards knockers with you. Just keep the conversation very very simple and speak sloooooowly so you can all keep up.
Unless some of you clowns start to apologise for your ridiculous "Cam Cloke is a better ruck option than Richards" statements - as soon as i have time i will expose you in a thread. Bring em on!

Yep, I just criticised Rocca for the same thing in another post. Even worse, his effort on goal was damn lazy.KYPREO wrote:didak's kick was going straight through the middle, but because Rocca was floating across he was on or near the line of the goal square when he landed. The ump put him on an angle. In hindsight Rocca probably should have shepherded it through.
I just want to add that Didak played one of his best all-round games. He played a part in around 10 goals on my reckoning. He kicked three great goals and his sublime delivery set up at least 5 others.

loki believe me i am not getting ahead of myself...i am still very very cynnical about Richards and will continue to criticise him because his work around the ground has a lot of work to do. Hale in the last quarter had 3 set shots on goal...Richards was very sloppy. But im more than happy to admit that his ruck work was spot on. Best he has been in quite a while.loki04 wrote:Great win by the whole team , Richards rucked very well but lets not get too ahead of ourselves (Johnno and dave ) wait until he has to stand up against quality rucks but none the less his tap work was brilliant.

No doubt that Richards is the better long term ruck option over Cam CLoke. Yes i am a bit of a richards knocker...but if you had been around this joint a bit longer you would know i am an even bigger Cam Cloke knocker.uey wrote:Another week!??!??MK wrote:Well done RICHARDS. My arguments about Richards have been about his form this year and i didnt feel he deserved a spot. But his game yesterday has more than snuffed out my arguments and he showed me why people do rate him so highly. Richards is the better player...i have never doubted that. I was just a bit iffy as to whether we should keep carrying him whilst he is out of touch. Looks like he found some good form...but i still do not think he has cemented a spot until he beats some better ruckman.
The next month...i would actually really like Richards to play every game. He has Hille, French, Lade and Cox coming up...that is a huge task. If he breaks even with these guys he would have more than cemented his spot in the side for the rest of the year regardless of form. I hope he continues to put me to shame.
As i said previously, i want to see him improve his work ethic around the ground. 8 touches and 5 marks is a reasonable output, but he needs to play closer to his opposition ruckman...Hale got away in the last quarter. His ruck work was the best i have seen from a collingwood player in quite a while but.

I decided to take 'black and white stripes' as a single Noun Phrase (a metaphor for the black and white jumper) then it makes grammatical sense!! (see some of us toothless Magpie supporters know stuff!)punkologist wrote:cheersquad, please learn some grammer!!! it should be our black n white stripes ARE here to stay
Go the mighty pies - this is the first game I've been to this year, after watching both Nth games last year , I definitely enjoyed this one more!
It's all been said - Taz, I take back (almost) every disparaging comment I've ever made about you!!! It was the little things he did today that won him that medal.
Bring it on Essendon!

Well you have goto give credit where credit is due and MMs game plan was one of the best ive seen all year(smartest we have ever played, very calculated), the way we peeled off and made space for the switch to open up the phat side was excellent, talk about backing yourself, going through the guts for once and not the boundry is really only open to highy skilled quick units, so guess what that made us yesterday.. Not only was it a great game plan it suits our style of play because we can slow it down and make sure the delivery is good enough to convert more often the not.. the backline pressure was outstanding, north where lucky sav played because it would have been a 100+point smashing.. we are looking good, anzac day is the test for this clubs improvement, i think its outstanding.. We finaly have something to smile and ponder about, 06 should be a great year.. team is working together and its super dangerous when teams work so hard for there team mates the way we are doing.. taz is back to 03 type but even better? question rocca HF taz HFF both running forward or being link players off the rebound rusling FF T.cloke half back?? how good is taz and pebs goal kicking, the forward line is a sledge hammer.. MM has got the team he needs the options are endless.. oh and pendles? how good are we going to be when this kids ready..
