That's the one, Dark Lord. :)

Good to see his brother succeed for the Power today, too.

Heater should get the 3 votes just on his ability to back up after a yesterdays great effort for the Gulls.

I thought Johno was magnificent all day. He ran and ran and his delivery into the 50 was fantastic.

Do we need to mention Bucks? Is he getting better with age? He was amongst our best last week and again this week. No signs of retirement yet.

Lets not name names here though. What a team effort. All players contributed. The tackling was first class most of the day and if they can keep that up finals will be a certainty.

Great effort Pies. Well coached MM.

Did Lonie play mainly on the wing today?
Side by side.

Wing, halfback and a little bit as a ruck-rover, I think.

I think we saw today how important Ben Johnson is to the team. He with Lonie adds the pace, Lonie a bit of finishing as well. Run out of the backline is essential if you want to beat the flood.

We have the better backline and forward line, the real trouble today was going to be midfield. Hawthorn with Mitchell, Hodge, Crawford, Vandenberg, Lewis and Bateman have a really really good lineup in the centre. What was impressive is that we more than matched them. Infact we actually dominated possession for most of the game. The Hawks barely got a touch. If we atleast broke even with the Hawks, we were going to win all along, today we not only broke even but beat them convincingly.

The Hawk onball unit still all dispalyed a pretty good stats sheet, but most of their stats came in the first half when the short chipping game was been employed. In the 2nd half, they barely touched it.

Last year when we beat hawthorn, their onball unit dominated. Hodge crawford and Mitchell all got around 35 touches, whilst our players such as Holland, Licuria and Burns wouldnt have got 30 touches between them. By memory, O'Bree was our only onballer who picked up around 30 touches. Well today, Johnson, Lonie, Swan, Obree, Buckley, Licuria, Caracella, THOMAS, Shaw, Didak all got heaps of it. If Tarrant kicked straight early, we wouldve won by more.

All credit to the midfield today. We matched it with a really good team in the centre. Thats all we had to do because our forward line was always going to beat players like Jacobs, Dawson, Cambell and Roughead. It was really inevitable. But doesnt matter, we got the job done. Trav Cloke also got back into some good nick today which is really pleasing.

Richards i thought again was beaten, but in his defence, Everitt was rucking most of the time he was on. And as Jonno said, it allowed Fraser to go up forward where he slotted 2 goals 2 behinds. SO it was effective.

O'Brien tried and has skill, but is a long way off before he can be on an oppositions best or second best forward. But he has only played 5 games, and Dixon did nothing in the 2nd half, and only kicked 4 goals in total. If we were to hold Dixon and Williams to 6 goals between them, we were always a shoe in to win. Well done to Clement who stood up with a slight injury.

ditto.

I had given up hope of Ryan being able to play the way he has the last two weeks. I now hope he continues to prove me wrong.

Pleasing thing about our midfield, it's early in the season but the combination looks promising lets hope they can further develop their understanding of each other so as to develop into a great unit.

I think it will be great when Shaw returns to the side to add further pace to the team.

I don't think Lonie has ever had more than 20 touches in a game before so this is a good step forward for him. Hopefully he can find some consistency and add some depth to our midfield stocks.

Playing Caracella as a floater is his ideal position. He can kill teams with his delivery inside 50 if he gets it a bit.
Get back on top.

What a game it was, the first half was shithouse, but in the second half it was a different collingwood team, we went bang, bang, bang with goals. Roccababy played so well kicking was it 8 goals, and what happened To Taz, he had a bad day. Swan and Johnson both played well, what about Johno goal outside 50 and also Lonie too.
O'Brien played well too, where i was sitting at the Country End behind the goals on Level 3, there was a mixture of pies and hawks fans together and when we were killing them in the last qtr, i said to the Hawks fans, Up yours and also up yours Kennett. I was also a bit suprise to see Joffa bring out the golden jacket early in the last qtr, i think it was at the 10 min mark. And what after the game Joffa's winning circle.
Great work Pies, looking foward to next week

We kicked some of the rust out today. We actually played organised footy after half time. Lets hope as the next few weeks evolve we can start to play more than 2 quarters. No new injuries- which means next week we will have a skerritt of stability in the lineup for a change. Gotta win next week.
