Im starting to think this might be the go against Hawthorn....

B: Johnson Clement Maxwell
HB: O'Brien Wakelin Swan
C: Didak Buckley Caracella
HF: Tarrant C Cloke Davis
F: Thomas Rocca T Cloke

R: Fraser Burns Licuria

B: O'Bree Holland Lonie Richards

In: Burns, Caracella, O'Brien, C Cloke.
Out: J Cloke, Lockyer, Prestigiacomo, Egan

This is ofcourse taking into consideration the following:

1. Clement is passed fit to play (looks likely)

2. The Only reason i have O'Bree listed is because there is no way in the world MM will drop him - If i had it my way either of Lockyer or Egan would replace him.

3. Our backline lacks pace & creativity - i think Presti (as much as i love him) and Wakes' days are VERY numbered. O'Brien, Swan, Maxwell & Johnson should help alleviate this problem.

4. We'll get smashed out of the ruck - having Burns back will add accountability to the midfield so at least their blokes are manned up in the middle.

We should win this one - comfortably - provided we man up and can counter their chipping game (which is going to definately happen based on the way they played against the Dockers....)
Beware the swooping Magpie.

If we don't beat Hawthorn this week, then i say Season Over.
Why? :roll: It'll hurt, but....20 weeks to go.

Johnson#26 - why? What r u on? We have a full strength side and hawthorn has a handful of players over 24 years old. Everitt, Crawford, Jacobs, Croad and Vandenberg.

depends who play for the hawks.

If franklin plays it could make a difference in selection too.

If there forward line has williams, franklin, croad and dixon we will line up something like this:

clement = williams
presti = croad
wakelin = franklin
cloke = dixon

although presti and wakes could switch or we could go a diff option on williams.

I don't think they are going to be that bad a side!

i dont know whether presti will take croad...croad can push up a bit which could hurt presti...possibly maxwell is a better choice.

I am going to be really dissapointed if we go in with 5 tall defenders. One of Cloke or Wakelin must be dropped. Maxwell has earnt his place. CLoke and Wakelin are a waste against a small attack/

We are forgetting Roughead who is in good nick and proving dangerous. I would say Presti should take Roughead.

Why what?

My changes:

IN: Burns, Caracella, O'Brien*
OUT: ?, ?, Clement*

* - if Clement doesn't come up.

Not sure who to dispose of. Richards? I'd like to see him go again. Travis Cloke? Perhaps too much of a knee-jerk reaction? Jason Cloke? Deserves another crack.

Dropping Travis is easier than dropping Jason. Jason has earnt the right to play, it won't hurt Trav to go back to the 2s and and spend a few weeks there kicking 3/4 goals a game, as I'd imagine, Rusling will do when he returns. Dropping Jason to Willi however could end his career because strange things happen at Port Gelibrand, gaining confidence when you are in trouble is not generally one of them.

Perhaps, Cam. Our forward line is a touch top heavy.

Our backs and forwards are top heavy jonno. We had an incredibly tall bench on monday night, whilst adelaide brought in plenty of young running players. Rocca and Tarrant is plenty against a side like Hawthorn...with josh pushing forward as a 3rd option.

Then in defence, 4 talls is more than enough. One of Cloke or Wakelin must be dropped if Clement does pull up alright.

Then Richards is a worry, id prefer a backup ruckman who has the option of either playing forward or back. Perhaps Cam CLoke, although i do not rate him. Its tough, but Everitt is a tough assignment. It would be great if Rocca could ruck, but i doubt this is an option.

We need more legs on the bench. Im sure we can afford one less tall forward, and one less tall back. In replacement, we could bring in Caracella and O'Brien, or Burns and Davies. I doubt Egan is in our top 22 either. Burns, Caracella and O'Brien look like good options against a small and fast hawthorn team. Id be looking to get Davies in as well.

MM will stick with Richards for a while yet, to give him an opportunity to find some form. Wakelin's spot is beginning to look a bit shaky, with him spending a lot of time on the pine. If he goes, then O'brien will come in. Other than that I reckon the only other change will be Egan out (for being too soft) and Burns in.

O'Bree cannot be dropped, not even for the naysayers...he was close to our best on monday and was one of our few hard ball get players
