Okay, can we improve? Who should be in and out?

I'm still being optimistic (for now! LOL!) - Pies by 19 points.

Out Clemant, Richards, T Cloke
In Harry, C Cloke, burns

I think we went in to tall against the crows and the hawks are a similar saught of team not too many talls and lots of running smalls.

We really need holland to tag mitchell which could curve a lot of there midfield dominance.

im tipping pies by 5 goals.

yeah we were really too tall and too slow against the crows. Pity Clement is out for the game against Hawthorn cos he did alright against Williams last time. who would u put on Williams this time? I really hope Pebs and Taz can put in better efforts this time around. And where was Caracella on Monday night?
Congrats Bucks, on a great return! Bring on the Crows!

Have to go Johnson on Williams I'd think, just not Presti.

We should win this easily so by 6 goals I hope.

If our forwards give us something this week then we should win comfortably. I'd drop Egan for Burns. While I'd prefer C2 to Richards, I feel the selection committee wants to perservere with Richards for a few weeks, as they've got him marked out as our second ruckman. I also suspect that C3 might be playing with Willi. For O'Brien to get a game, the club would probably have to drop Wakelin, and i can't see that happenning just yet.

Williams to kick 5 goals and Rocca to kick 5 goals and blitz the Hawks in the 3rd Qtr.

If we can't beat Hawthorn this week, then God help us.

This is a game we surely should be able to win. We are pretty much at full strength and if we can't win these games, than who the F[CK are we going to beat.

However if we lose, I am sure that MM will find some new excuse in his "The Mick Malthouse encyclopedia of 1001 excuses"

Possibly:
Excuse 77 - We did not have Rusling in the side which seriously ruined the balance in our side,

or Excuse 176 - The boys are still getting over their mountain expedition and are still leg weary from it,

or even Excuse 543 - The boys are still jet lagged from the trip back from Perth against Freo!

Big game for us....we must get the selections right this week. There is no room for any failure.

Ok....lets look at the hawthorn team:

1. They are short up forward. Dixon and Croad have added a dimension in round 1, but are still not your typical KPP type player. The forward line is still revolved around Mark Williams

2. They flood enormously. Their game is taxing. They will keep possession. Their skills are good like Adelaide. If they watched the monday game, which im sure they did, they may look at using the same sort of tactics. Our manning was poor, our fitness was poor. If Hawthorn do this, they are quite good at pinpointing williams up forward.

3. Their backline is very weak...unlike Adelaide

4. Everitt is very underdone, and their ruck division is not flash.

Ok...so what can we use from that?? Well first of all, i doubt we need to go in with 5 tall defenders. It seems like a huge waste. Clement looks like he will play...and im pretty sure he will because it did not look too serious.

To me, Jason Cloke is absolutely unnecessary. Either that or SHane Wakelin has no spot. Even 4 talls seems too much against the Hawks. They very rarely boot it long, we need players who will match it on the lead. They are not a high scoring team as it is anyway. One of our tall defenders will have to miss this week. If Clement is out, possibly the other 4 will remain.

Now, in regards to point 2 about a taxing style of game that they play...we must replace a tall defender with a fast runner. SOmeone like Ben Davies who runs hard, Chad Morrison who could tag, Julian Rowe who has talent, or another one of our much hyped draft picks who can run hard. We cannot afford a bench of J Cloke, T Cloke and Richards. It is too tall. The bench has to have more run coming off it. Rotation is essential against a highly flooding team like hawthorn.

They have a poor backline...Tarrant and Rocca have a chance this week to find touch. I would play Trav CLoke because he is a tough matchup for them. I would also bring back in Blake Caracella because they will really struggle to match up on him.

In terms of their ruck...Everitt will not play more than 50% of the match i would think. No need for Guy Richards. Id prefer Cam CLoke who can go forward and further expose a weak backline. Having 4 big talls, plus Josh Fraser will cause the Hawks headaches. Versatility will be provided by Caracella, Didak and Davis. No need for Guy Richards because Fraser looks in good touch in the ruck. Plus Rocca can play in stints in the ruck if he needs to get into the game.

Id have in: C.Cloke, Davies, Caracella, O'Brien
out: J. Cloke, Richards, Wakelin, Egan

Obrien is versatile and could match up on Dixon, whilst Presti could take Roughead. Clement takes WIlliams, and Maxwell gets the role of Croad who is too versatile for either of Wakelin or Presti. Maxwell would match up with him better around the ground.

My big worry is that Everitt plays up forward, then we really struggle to find a match up for him. Possibly Wakelin should be included in the team as a backup if this happens. Otherwise, Trav Cloke could be tried in defence.

What i feel is important, is that we cut a tall for a smaller pacier player. What ever happens, we need to run out the game better than last week, and our team balance must be perfect
