My throughts on last night game was that, i was really happy with the performance for 3 quaters, but in the last qtr, we just fell apart. We looked tired, slow and did not have any energy left in the tank. I was also proud with the crowd on a Monday night, were people work and also go to skool the next day.
Can i just say Daisy Thomas played such a great game he kicked great goals and what about that Mark he took, that was great!
Bucks as always played well, with O'Bree, Swan, Didak as well he fired in the third qtr with those two goals.
Rocca, T.Cloke did not play well, is there something wrong with him Rocca?. Clement played well for the game, but came off, will he be alright and will he play on Sunday.
I was listening to Triple M last year and they said the worst perfomance on ground with Davis, and J.Cloke.

Well very disappointing last night. Watching our skill level, makes you wonder what in Gods name they have been practicing over the last 6 months!
My thoughts are that we keep going back to 02-03 and maybe don't realise that players such as O,Bree, Licuria, Holland, Wakes, Presti etc are simply not going to improve and perhaps are slightly past it now!
I have to say that I was a little concerned when Bucks still has to play 80% in the Guts at the age of 35!
And in case any has any Illusions of top 4, we are not even a top 4's Arse Hole. We simply lack the skills and the smarts to be top four and the best we can hope for is 6-12!
On a positive note, Daisy was sensational and a terrific Debut!

There were only two differences between us and Adelaide last night.
1, pressure on the ball carrier
2, hitting up targets.
I cant see how the forward line is supposed to function when they have to try to take mark of the year every time a ball is bombed in as opposed to being hit on the chest lace out ala Ricciuto

Totally disfunctional forward line. 90% of the time the ball was banged in there there were a pack of adelaide defenders around Taz or Rocca. Not sure if it's Carey's influence or MM's, but that forward line was not working.
Skills were typically horrible, which was so much more evident when playing against such a polished team like Adelaide. Commentators did mention that the crows were one of the first clubs to start using the ball in pre-season and that it was a large focus of theirs, and it shows. Begs the question of why we don't spend more time on our skills and why we haven't got a full time skills coach when our skills would be one of the worst in the comp.
Positives for mine were Lonie getting in amongst it and Fraser having a very solid game in the ruck.
I am no longer confident in making the eight

Fools and Idiots!
Fools and Idiots are ranting that our season is over! Take a deep breath and wait till the end of Round 3.
Collingwood were greatly improved, Rocca and Tarant did nothing yet we pushed last years top side to the brink. Thomas could be anything!
The Free kick for holding against Buckley in the last knocked the wind out of us and they didn't kick away till bucks came off in the last 7 or 8 mins.
Carracella?!?!?!? He is the kind of player that would have bobbed up for a goal in the second quarter and stopped thier run. He is easily in our best 22.
Richards..... AFL may have past him bye, unfortnate but Fanning may have been a better selection.
J. Cloke cannot play and must be sacked. Carracella V J. Cloke. It is laughable that Cloke played.
IMO Fanning for Richards
Carracella For Cloke
Burns for Someone

Tarrant and Rocca did nothing. Carey could play the game, but cannot coach. These two usually work well together and obviously under the direction of Carey's forward game plan, they couldn't find a wife at a swingers party.
I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

Ah the frustration I would have ripped my hair out but I had already been to the sydney harbour's. We had our chances - O'brien must be put into back line or in middle his kicking will help us. Swan was by far our best. Thomas looked good , Didak did well should have been in the middle more. All that back pedalling was cring worthy stuff. We have a long way to go before we turn the corner lets not kid ourselves. I hate to say this we should have taken campo. O'bree kick it to a bloody magpie!

It's definitely way too early to write our season off BUT really, based on last night's performance, what has changed from last year? Lack of run, poor skills, disappointing forward line, smashed in the centre and at most clearances.....
Where was the enthusiasm and hunger for 4 qtrs? I don't expect them to be playing their best quality football in Round 1 but I thought we'd see a lot more positives than we did. At the moment we can't even get the basic skills right - and that's a big worry.
TURNOVERS?!?!?!?!?! AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's hoping it's nothing more than a slow start and we'll improve each round - we certainly need to! And I'd be happy to eat my words if we're firing and in the 8 mid-season! But it really was just more of the same last night.
Oh, and thought Thomas was a shining light.
GO PIES!

so how much $$ did this little afl americanisation cost us??? they can keep their "Monday night football"Cam wrote:Another thing, they would have got 45,000 had this game been on saturday day/night or Sunday arvo.
We had to many recievers and no in-and-under midfielders, when it was there to be won we where all standing on the outside waiting for the clearance, it didn't come and you can't win the game without the ball.
if "this years" rule changes where supposed to see the end of flooding then they have got it seriously wrong again, our foward line didn't fire because they where out numbered 3-1 all night.
I sat there wondering what the f%%%k happend to the game I grew up loving.
Steve.

was defiantly a frustrating final quarter, but guys we played it up to a grand final contender for 3 quarters and we gotta look at the positves at what got us so close for that.
-O'Bree, im a constant hater, but i gotta say, he tried his hard out and was actualy effective MOST of the time unlike most of our midfielders
-Fraser, excellent game and hopefully a sign of things to come this yr
-Bucks and Thommo, enuf said, one a champion and one future champion
-Presti, was solid and shown some aggression which was good to see
lets not come down too hard guys, adelaide are a benchmark remember, were as we would be happy to make 8. a loss against the hawks and then kangas would be alarming, but lets hold our horses and try and look at positives for now. lets face it, were all just anxious for a f%##kn win. its been way too long and the fans need something to salvage.
lets look forward to next week, a win against the hawks will get us on the board and will no doubt have us feeling a lot more positive.
Game 1 over, 21 to go! lets especially STOP SLAGGING THE YOUNGSTERS in the team, give em 5 or 10 games to show something b4 writing them off.

I was stocked about the first 3, i keeped thinking we are even peg with a definate top4 and some of our guns are not firing, rocca, taz, licca, dutch, clemo, magic and dids in patches.. Then in hit me, the crows are running us into the ground in rd1, the short possesion game saved the crows asses.
Im ok and not worried yet, but MM needs to phone a friend cause he needed to react last night when adelaiade played possesion and when they choked us in the last but MM done nothing.. bucks should have went to roo in the last, rocca in the ruck, fraser FF and taz and t.cloke hf. MM needed to take some risks cause we had nothing to loose, how can he honestly even look rocca in the eye the next day by leaving him dry in the square all night it beyond me.. pathetic coaching effort by MM, and is is carey who runs our forward line now? if so wtf is going on? how can he get 2 goals out of t.cloke, rocca and tarrant?

Its interesting that we seem to have designated scapegoats who are always blamed regardless of the true circumstance.
The fact is that while there were some clangers etc. the nitty gritty of where the game was lost revolves on 3 basic points.
1. Riccuto kicked 6 goals 5 of them on Clement. While it is clear that Clement is one of our shining lights, there is no doubt that yesterday he got done quite badly.
2. We thought that the combination of Rocca, T.C., Fraser and Tarrant would overwhelm the Adelaide back line. It didn't happen. While Fraser did extremely well in the ruck, our tall forwards did nothing. Not only did they not get the ball, they did not bring it down to our crumbers or stop it from being brought out by the Adelaide defence. Sure the delivery was less than perfect but you expect star forwards to win 50% of the 50/50's and that didn't happen. When your big forwards are being killed, you tend to stop kicking it long to them and start chipping and that is exactly what happened.
3. We were top heavy and didn't have enough runners to rotate from the bench. Thus after big efforts we got tired and Adelaide ran over us. This happened in the second and last quarters.
Hopefully Clement, Rocca and Tarrant were just rusty or had off days. As well we need to replace at least 2 out of Wakelin, TC and JC with midfield runners. Ben Davies, Yakka and H.Shaw are obvious candidates. Burns and Carcella may be replacements for Egan but they are not midfield runners. Caracella is not tough enough and Burns no longer has the stamina.
