All O'bree needs to do is kick it low and direct instead of high and to everyone, his possesions are wasted when he decides to kick it to the player in the roof.RudeBoy wrote:I know he's everyone's wipping boy, but i thought it was one of O'Bree's best games. He actually looks like he's beefed up in the gym, and has added a bit of pace. My major disappointment was johnno - I'm a big fan of his, and i know he had a horrible season last year with injuries, but he's going to have to step up if he's to hold his place in the side.

After watching the replay, the Gherig free kick would have to be one of the SOFTEST to potentially influence the outcome of a game in modern history. Fraser made position in the ruck contest from a boundary throw in, made contact to Gherig's side, Gherig barely felt any contact (he's a huge unit after all) and Fraser won the tap ... but the umpire decided to rule that our RUCKMAN infringed a FORWARD who was trying to impersonate a ruckman - talk about a lack of respect for Fraser. Even if the umpire was a Saints fan (which I honestly believe he is) he's got mighty big balls to blow his whistle for that. It wasn't even there for interpretation. It was a non-event. It was luaghable. I saw it at home on the replay and nearly vomited, knowing we could have lost because of that decision. ATROCIOUS at best. This is the very reason why our game is a SOFT shell of its former self.

One of the most satisfying things to come out of the game, milne not having a kick all game, bout time he had a half decent player on him, the first time in a long time and he got showed up big time...Dr Alf Andrews wrote:You're not referring to Therapist, are you?3rd degree wrote:Couldn't happen to a nicer t*rd!BBHS wrote:Tarks gave Milne an absolute bath..
When he plays teams like Carlton and he kicks 3 goals he thinks hes king s**t, i couldnt have been happier for tarks...
I can't believe some of the negative comments about Daisy. I watched him closely and thought his attack on the ball and the man was magnificant for a first gamer - and a skinny one at that. He's also got a great footy brain and is super quick. Only his kicking for goal let him down, and i'd put some of that down to nerves. We've got a 10 year player in this kid. Well done.
My main worries were Lonie, Leon and Johnno. They each were OK, but for players fighting to cement a place in our best 22, they didn't do nearly enough.
The Clokes will become the physical foundation for this team. Their attack on packs is second to none. I don't care where they're played, as long as they are in our 22.
I was disappointed in Guy Richards, but given his past injury problems, he'll no doubt need a few weeks to find some form. Rocca will be better for the run. Josh - well I'm putting a few quid on him for the brownlow!

Guy Richards is an interesting one, im hoping it just a lack of game time and pre season but he looked slow compared to every other player on the ground, hoping its just a lack of match practice but its something to take note of for the coming weeks whether it be in the NAB cup or the Practice Matches...

I was exactly the same - It just seems like the kind of thing that doesn't normally happen to Collingwood.Go_The_Mighty_Magpies wrote:That's not the only thing that's not edited, I believe all I could say in the majority of the 4th quater was f*** and I can't F***** handle this. Wow, I really think I was more deprived of footy than I realised I was so much more stressed out than I can remember being at the footy in a long time. How exciting, how did we pull it off? I'm still asking myself.

When they came sat down near us I almost fell off my chair

Agree - he's a worry as much of our improvement rests on having two quality ruckmen. Let's hope they're just babying him through the pre-season.ad4eva wrote:Guy Richards is an interesting one, im hoping it just a lack of game time and pre season but he looked slow compared to every other player on the ground, hoping its just a lack of match practice but its something to take note of for the coming weeks whether it be in the NAB cup or the Practice Matches...

Daisy did well for a first gamer. Although, he did miss shots on goal that he would normally kick because in the TAC cup I remember him kicking a goal from just on the 50 so it's not like he can't kick a ball long I'm thinking this kicking in rule is fre aking out the players a little and break ing their normal routine. Even lonie couldn't make 40metres now this is a guy who can probably bomb a ball 60 metres no worries. Daisy did a lot of the 2nd efforts and for his frame he is suprisingly strong. He did a fantastic tackle on Dal Santo that ended up being turned over and converted into a goal. He knows that he should've got those goals and would on a normal day but with a finals atmosphere and the pressure applied it is a lot for a first gamer to handle it all but i'm positive with a few games under his belt a lot more confidence in him and he will definately be kicking those goals. He has great pace too, applies pressure on the defenders, goes in tough no matter how big of an oppenent he is facing, good leap, quick hands. You can't expect too much first off but he's certainly made an impression and will be forcing his way into the best 22.

Think some of you are being very harsh on Dale Thomas. I think what you can take of that performance was that he coped very well with the pace of AFL footy. His kicking was a bit shy but i can tell you i have last years U18 GF on tape and his kicking is very good. I was very impressed...the most I have been in a long time for one of our first gamers.
Re Lonie, Davis and Johno. Many had Johno in their better players. I thought he was ok, nothing brilliant but ok. He is getting use to playing in the middle and what i like is he has good vision and he has pace. He needs to maybe use his hands more or keep improving that kicking which I think is improving.
Davis - he had a real go and put his body on the line many times. I watched him closely bc i wanted to see how much he wanted it. He to played a lot in the middle and I thought he has progressed since '05.
Lonie - yeah a bit disappointing after a strong start. I think he has the problem Leon has. We know what they are capable of they just dont show it often enough.
