I've just come back from the game and as I have had done for the last 5 years I have not seem them win up here.
Very dissapointing display for the team and by rights the Bears should have thrashed us by at least 120 points.
Tarrant is obviously not fit so can someone please tell the Collingwood match committee to send him for an op and get himself right for next year.
We have a long way to go and some hard decisons need to be made from now

lets be realistic, we are at the moment not good enough against a power team.
Its gonna get worse,
out goes C2 C3 and Rusling Josh Walker and Richrads are injured, so is the back up ruckman?
Carcella has been good tonight he and Tarrant missed marks which are unofrgivable
I can't wait for next week, cause I have no expectations and I want ot see the kids playing

"The Igniter" Leon Davis can hold his head up high. He played well when he was on the field. "The Nature Boy" Cameron Cloke and "Little Naitch" Travis Cloke were playing well up until they went off hurt. Licuria and Holland had a good personal game, but had no impact on the game.
The rest should be ashamed.
Jason Cloke was blamed and dropped for the Freo loss, eh? Well, how many will be dropped after last night, hmm?

It's no use blaming our ruckman. Fanning makes the mistakes you would expect of a guy who has only played for a couple of years. BUT he got far closer to the ball than some of our other more seasoned veterans. He moves around but needs time to get fitness and body. Blame our recruiters again who have left us in the hands of a long term project player. Again, this comes down to the fact that 2 years ago we recruited NO ONE who could play and we are suffering from this (My apologies to both Shaws who haven't been given the chance to show if they can play).

Just got back this morning flew in about 8:30 am into Melbourne and what a dismal effort to say the least! I will always follow the Pies all over the country when I can win lose or draw but when the players know we have made the journey to watch them you would think they would make an effort to turn it on a little!
Thats the worst interstate game I have been to! We will have to win every game now and by big percentages AND hpe for the other 3 or 4 teams above us to lose EVERY GAME and it will be hard considering some of them teams will clash or have home games in their own states!

Reality says that our chances of even scaping into the 8 went out the window last night.Magpie_Dan wrote:Just got back this morning flew in about 8:30 am into Melbourne and what a dismal effort to say the least! Our next chance will be 2006. It's time we all started to realise this. I'm sorry to burst people's bubbles, but let's just go to the footy and enjoy the next 7, yes that's right folks, 7 games.
and the only consolation we can take from last night's game is that our percentage is still higher than Essendon's .

Mate you are 100% on the money here and a lot of us have been saying this for a while now. The 2004 Draft will be an excellent one for us, but the 02-03 Drafts are biting us on the backsides at the moment and will leave a big black hole in 2-3 years time.GlovemanGayfer wrote:Blame our recruiters again who have left us in the hands of a long term project player. rom 2002 - Nixon - Gone, Shackleton - Gone, C2 Looks OK, King - Most Likely Gone, Lokan - Most likely Gone.
Atleast 3 of those players should have been pushing hard for the best 22 for selection at this point it time and yet only one looks the goods.
From 2003 - Morrison - Struggling, B Shaw - Looks the most likely, Hall - Struggling, H Shaw - Struggling, Rowe - Looks OK.
Atleast 3 of these players should be playing good footy in the VFL with a view to inject them possibly this season.
This has been caused in my view by one of the most overatted Recruiters in the History of the AFL in Dudkins who is still living in the 60's with his recruiting. Thank God he was not the Head Recruiter for the 2004 crop. Built his entire reputation on one recruit in Hird and has done shit all since!
Just remember Brisbane were in the same position as us earlier in the season and yet their recruits are now going in leaps and bounds.
Adcock - 2003 Draft
Corrie - 2002 Draft
Drummond - 2003 Rookie Draft
MacDonald - 2002 Rookie Draft
Merrett - 2002 Draft
Selwood - 2002 Draft
What's the difference, their 2002 Draftees are now playing good footy while our are either gone or just about forgotten!

Have just come back from the Brisbane Post Game Breakfast and I must say it is wonderful for us here in Brisbane to get to meet the players and get photos with them.
Just some feedback from the breakfast.
1. Tarrant wasn't present. Don't know what happened or whther he turned up late but when I was there he wasn't present.
2. Dissapointed that Malthouse didn't attend the supporters breakfast also.
3. Most of the players that spoke to were very dissapointed at their effort last night (especially Buckley).
4. All players were very happy to speak to the supporters and get their photos taken.
5. Asked Cam about his shoulder. He said it was the same one that he had surgery on last year and it "popped" out last night. He is not sure if he will be available next week.
The biggest thing for me to see (being in Brisbane) is seeing the players up close that most of them are still young and developing.
All in all it was a good breakfast with a good turnout by the magpie faithful in Brisbane.

Look I think it is important to keep in mind we have been very good of late... when you put things in perspective we have (with a v heavy injury list) been pretty good the last 6 weeks or so since beating WCE.
Thats not making excuses for last night - it was a crap effort and one where they looked physically and emotionally intimidated which just makes me sick to think we could be.
But... we are better than that - we have shown it. What last night should serve to do is help make some of the tough calls on players who are 50:50. For one, whilst Obree has been good recently - last night he was crap. He is probably one you would move on. Holland and Dutchy stay and tutor the youngsters.
Wakelin is getting old - JC must be retained to fill his spot.
Tarrant - fit or not his efforts must be being questioned. He does not look like he loves his footy and that is a worry. For the Tazza lovers - he looks like parting ways with the Club to me. Think about what Rich, Geel, Bullies and Hawks have that we want! Two first round picks anyone?
Davis - had a go when on
Lonie - He was ok but................ that tackle in the last qtr he dropped off looked terrible and he may have had his file stamped I fear.
Rowe - one paced and ordinary disposal.
