I think we suprised port by our tackling and intensity right from the start...port really struggled to cope with it and never got back into the game..

Was a great win, doesnt matter if it was ugly it was still great!!

Anytime we beat those Port wankers its fkn great...

btw has our residential port troll Dr ALF surfaced yet??, must be hurting him bad!!

i think we were good, but i think port were hillariously tragic! It got to the point were it was just a joke to watch them kick the post or across the face, lol they were quite pathetic which equals good entertainment us PIES fans!!! Our boys were great though, not takng nething of them. I must credit Breeza coz I was probly bagging him at the start of the week. So to quote that Heath fellow from BB,
It was great to see Breeza "steppin up"coz it was time to "step up boys" and he did and they did, AND WE WON!!!!!

The win was a great tactical victory and there were good moments from the youngsters, middle-tier and senior players alike. If we lay 50 tackles a game we can grind down most teams.

It was a shocking game to watch, however, and I don't think that game plan is appropriate for too many other opponents, including Brisbane. We'll need much better/quicker movement of the ball into the forward line to kick a winning score up there.

For what it is worth I just watched the game and make the following points;

- very ave game of footy for the purists but.... we executed pretty well bar some of our field kicking

- obree had his best game for 2 -3 years

- Lonie has a role to play. Whilst he played loose he was often in the traffic and made good decisions..... and he didn't get scared or hurt.

- Maxwell and Swan are fabulous young defenders. Maxwell getting bigger by the day!

- Rusling pressure fabulous

- Lica, Dutchy and Obree v good in the middle. Dutchy learning to run fwd of the contest to become goal kicking mid.

Presti - excellent along with Clement.

Fanning and Cloke did well enough to ensure that at least the Port talls did not control the air which would have been MM's biggest worry going in.

Did's - real good - both ways!

Not convinced we need to draft a mid when you could have Lonie, Johno, Shaw, Dutchy, Lica, Bucks, Dids, Egan, Yakka and Davies in there. Just draft more kids!

Great win on the weekend, looking forward to handing the in form Lions a defeat from us which is long over due. On another note I think our recruiters should look at a ready to play elite ruckman to bring on the development of Richards and Fanning and a quick midfielder. I think it wouldnt be bad throwing some cash at Bradshaw from the lions he has to be looking at a move next year and is a great mark and good shot at goal. Rusling looks the goods though, really like what I am seeing there.
Cant wait to next weekend...............GO PIES!

Very pleased with the performance on Friday. Yes, Port played poorly however this was mainly due to the constant pressure/tackling we put them under. Those people who have undermined our victory remember this:

1. They were last years premiers
2. They were at full strength
3. They wasted less opportunities than ourselves (yes, its true)
4. They came off a 2 week break as opposed to our 6 days
5. They have a far more experienced side

Smoke on that.

GO PIES.

Forget the Port game now... The real deal is coming this week...

I can not wait to see Egan Ruz Travis and the other yound kids against a tough team that is going to try an intimidate us.

I think our small forwards are the key. They match up too well on our talls(with Rocca out) - we will not kick enough goals.

Ruz Cara Egan Didak all need to kick goals.

But their backs and one dimensional whereas our forwards have pace and agility.

Last year tarrant started brilliantly until sustaining an injury which forced him off the field

The way I see it, they only have 1 good small defender.

Who will probably go to Didak.

That leaves Egan Cara and Ruz to exploit them.

Tarrant took a lot of marks up the ground last year. In their forward 50 they will just triple team him.

Travis needs to stand up and take away some pressure from him.

A 2003 GF forwardline repeat where we went 4on1 to Taz would be devastating.

good points...MM must be ready to adopt the small forward line ala the sydney game in the last qtr, but he has to do it quickly if things look like theyre not working.

Collingwood's defence, led by the finger-pointing general James Clement, was again superb.

Should have buried these clowns by a lot more . But a win none the less and I was there to take it in. I was wrapped with Maxwell, Holland, Presti, Clement and O'bree who has stepped up. Didak had his moments, but has got to go easy on the goulash and sooth that croat temper of his.

Caracella showed his usual class when we needed it. I hope Burnsy gets off we need him to smash the irons up north.

Well Done to Shane Wakelin on 100 Games!

Next week is a big test. Someone must smash akermanis and take a 3 match ban.
