Our kicking for goal like theirs was shocking, we almost kicked it away, we are lucky they also missed easy shots. And we played a little better, top marks to the boys for putting up a good effort, very good win, but in parts an ugly one.
Stevie Wonder should be sacked as goal kicking coach, he is shocking.

The kicking for goal from both sides was amazing in a closed stadium - no wind, no rain - not rushed, just easy shots missed!!
Must of been the runaway pigeon who refused to be captured putting them off their kicking!
The problem with the club telling porkies about injured players being on the field is that they get bagged constantly
OB has finally shaken of the OP and has improved week after week
I don't give a fat rats clacker about any of the supposed negatives at the moment - we BEAT PORT - sent them home with their tails between their legs and MAYBE just maybe helped to keep them out of the finals
As the ad says; it's all good mate"!!!

He shows something, Cam, and that is class. The way he moves with the ball. He looks like a footballer, if you know what I mean.Cam wrote:Ok Ok, please don't use Rowe and classy in the same sentence. We won the game because he was absent for large patches.
9 kicks - 5 of them straight to a Port player.
I think O'Bree needs to be commended on his magnificent performances over the past 5-6 weeks, with 60 in the past fortnight. Back to his best. Presti killed Treadrea, while Maxwell also looked good in various roles. Our defense is one of the best going around.
I thought we got the good end of the decisions!Umpiring was shocking!
McLaren can't umpire for crap!
I agree with 2005PIES - Lonie was very good all night, starring int he final term with seven touches, and 21 for the night. Very, very valuable in the team if he can continue. Great to see he is back to his best.
Collingwood forever, Tarks has been terrific in the previous two weeks. The guy is now back in form, and I think the doubters have gone very, very quiet.

Strange ol game of footy it was, but hey we won and beat Port! Always satisfying to screw up other teams chances in the 8.
Thought the boys were great last night, despite poor kicking on both sides. They tackled ferociously last night, tried their guts out and their endeavour and tenacity at the ball was terrific .
Rowe's turnovers (about 4 in the first 1/4 alone I think) were dreadful, but I was pleased to see Bucks and Tarks ( I think) run up to him and pat him on the back after one turnover almost cost us a goal. Keep your head up Julian, in time I think he will be very good for us.
Loved Brodies game last night , and loved Ruslings tacke on a Port player in the 3rd quarter which resulted in a Dids goal - good work
Overall a great night at the footy, Im a very happy girl indeed

How good was O'Bree?!!! 7 tackles in a night reflects some very hard work...add that to 30 possessions, many of which were hard ball gets, and I give him BOG. His disposal has improved and he provided some run in the 3rd quarter, after we were reduced to a standstill in the 2nd.
Maxwell superb (except the 50m penalty, which was a bit soft, but he overacted nevertheless)
Lockyer is getting right back into form. I noticed he took a few kick-ins, which would be the first time since 2002 I remember him doing that. His field kicking was first rate and he obviously has gained a lot of confidence.
Brodie Holland has really impressed me. this man has possibly been our most consistent performer over the past 6 matches. His workrate has been phenomenal. He is shutting down opposition players but is extremely damaging going forward and forces his opponent to be accountable. Should have kicked 4, which is what you want your midfielders to be able to do.
Travis Cloke should be commended. He got injured and came back and put his body on the line numerous times. He is showing that even when is not playing his best he can still influence a game.
Dids will need to learn to pull his head in. I am a huge fan, but he does his best when he just goes about playing. He should try to be more like Nathan Brown than Jeff Farmer. Hopefully he will have learnt that he can't get away with it all the time. I think that generally Malthouse regimes do not tolerate that sort of attitude so I hope he concentrates more on his footy.
EDIT....oh and Lonie was good IMO. Accurate disposal by foot. He has a tendency to put his teammates under pressure when he is being tackled and handpasses off. Despite allowing his man too much latitude in the first half, he was much better in the second and layed some important tackles. Played a lot on the wing and should stay there.
Presti and Wakes, great as usual.
Swan very good, BUT should take his time a little bit more with his kicks. He tends to pump high hospital kicks out of 50 which are too easily read by opposite players. He will eventually learn to hug the boundary line etc.
Oh...and how about Rusling's beautiful shepherding!!!! Didak's first goal was a great team goal with Rusling and Lonie putting in important 1%ers.
Maxwell superb (except the 50m penalty, which was a bit soft, but he overacted nevertheless)

The things that stick out in my mind are:
Positives
- Rusling's 1 %ers. The kid has played only a handful of games against men but has the ability to tackle and shepherd that many more seasoned players can't seem to do.
- The ability of the team to win despite limited contributions from Bucks, Taz, Jonno and Cara. The lesser lights showed the way.
Negatives
- Julian Rowe needs to improve his skills. He may well look like a footballer but give me someone who looks like crap but kicks to his teammates rather than the opposition any day.
- Failure by the boys to get into Chad Cornes. The arrogant p***k actually had the gall to get into Fanning after the latter dropped an easy mark in the forward line, forgetting that he still recovered the ball and handpassed to Carra for a goal!
Overall the game wasn't pretty but maybe we should consider that Port didn't play well because we didn't let them.

Great win last night. The boys ran hard all night and really put the pressure on Port.
Kicking for goal was atrocious by both sides but I think Port missed more from dead in front which was good to see.
It was also good to see Lonie get a few touches and I thought Rusling on a lead looked pretty good, very fast, they'll just have to get the ball to him.
As well as the usual performers, I thought Brodie and Tarks were good and Nick Maxwell continues to impress as does Dane Swan.
Also for our young players to go up against their bigger, more experienced ruckmen was a huge effort.
I hope Travis' shoulder is OK and doesn't end up like Cam's last year.
Umpires were crap as usual but it's always good to get the majority of the frees.
Got a bit worried with 5 minutes to go when Joffa put on the Gold Jacket - anything could have happened but luckily Port lost the plot and the Umpires helped out with a few frees and a 50m penalty which resulted in a goal and we were loving it in the Cheersquad.
How good was it to see Buck's smile after the game?

I knew port were crap!!!
They did not really pay as any respect and that showed they were not interested in going for the ball. To me it looked like they expected to win without actually having to do anything which is what you will find if you look at the other games port have lost at the dome.
Full credit to the boys - ok we missed a lot of shots on goal but at least we know that once the acuuracy part is worked on we will be averaging around 18 goals a game.
The huge shining light of the game for me was the perforamnace of our youngsters that is the players who have not yet played 50 games.
Julian Rowe
Chris Egan
Nick Maxwell
Sean Rusling
Travis Cloke
Cam Cloke
Dane Swan
David Fanning
They all looked up to playing with the big boys, abd is is so encouraging to see quality younsters with pace coming through.
Chris Egan will be a star. Matty Primus is a DUD!!! (i mean their rucking division was a joke last night - Primus, lade and Brogan against cam and david they should have absolutely slaughtered us but our 2 boys gave a contest all round the ground)
Also cant believe that no one has pointed out the fact that Ports first 4 goals came from free kicks, 3aw mentioned this on the way home last night and said that no wonder people bag umps.
Well it was the disgraceful Mclaren and his evil partner Mcburney.
And if we keep that intensity up look out brisbane.
Can someone please tell me if scott burns will go for whatever he got reported for, because we need him to be able to beat bris
