I'm queen of the obree baggers, but thought he was really good tonight.
Nick Maxwell close to BOG
Rowe - Can you PLEASE learn to kick to black and white: teal is not in our jumper description.
Licca also excellent, took some good marks.
The milion dollar question.......Does Fanning actually have hands???

Great Win PIES
As I said in the pre match thread, Port haven't played anyone, their last 3 wins were against ordinary opponents. The Pies on the other hand have been playing well the past month and were a bit unlucky in some losses.
I just hope Port miss the 8 by 1 game now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or better still 1/2 a game

Exceptional Pies
Again our young champions have shown a finals pretender how it is done.
Well done boys. You played a sensational game with passion, guts, and pride.
A pleasure to venture out on a cold winter night and watch. Now lets go up to Brisbane and show that Brown a thing or two.
Keep it up and we still might have a chance. I am so proud.

I love this club and I hold anyone in contempt who does not think it is worth fighting for.

No names fire
Maxy, Swan, Presti, Holland, O'Bree all played well. Nice to see Maxy really take it to another level. He's really growing in confidence. We were very wasteful tonight again. If only we didn't let ourselves down with finishing we 'd win so many more games.
Port took it easy and are now gone in the long term. So what if they still made the 8? They are old and grey and will have to start rebuilding eventually. We are two to three years ahead of them in development. It'll be nice to see them on the slide over the next two years.
Now next week: if ever we need to win a game for our development its in Brisbane. We have to get that monkey off our back. This is a crucial stepping stone to 2006.

Yer obree was fantastic, hit most of his targets and had another 30 possession game with an amazing 7 tackles. Clearly best on ground and kicked a goal early as well.
Other standouts:
Brodie with his 3 goals and 24 touches had one of his best games of the year. Player very well on burgoyne for most of the match and exposed burgoynes greatest weakness, his lack of defense. Holland got the bette of that match up.
Licuria spent most of the first quarter on the bench with a torn calf and fought on courageously to get 24 quality touches and 6 marks along with 3 tackles.
Ryan Lonie was damaging all night, was good by hand and foot, went in and rarely lost a contest. He is back and was played loose across half back which suited him. Although it has been agonising to see lonie play defensively for the majority of his career, mick has been able to develop lonie into a tagger, good overhead mark and the ability to play close on an opponent. He is versatile now.
Rusling was important early, set up a few goals as well from tackles
Tarrant had a bad one but again kicked an important goal from a set shot and was prominent around the ground. Also took 3 tackles and for a forward that is quite good, he assisted in many goals. Was definately struggling early with injury but fought on to play a hand.
Swan great in defense, as was Presti. Clement held Ebert well without being fantastic. Maxwell was good all night apart from the 50
Didak was a showpony yes, but had 13 important touches and 2 goals and rarely missed a target. I hate his showpony side, but its what makes him special, i hope he can tone it down a bit though.
Fanning and Cam did really well in the ruck although it wont show on the stats sheet. They only had 10 hitouts between them which is shocking honestly, but both were dangerous around the ground. Cam work hard all night, got loose forward a few times but couldnt snag a goal and Fanning popped forward for a goal. Cam's only bad effort all night was in a marking contest against Tredrea, but Warren missed so we can forgive Cam. Fanning dropped that mark yes but it resulted in a goal and showed that Fannign was playing smart on quality opposition.
My votes are:
3. O'Bree
2. Holland
1. Prestigiacomo
I will not do my votes for worst on ground tonight as i cannot think of a really bad player apart from rowe who missed a few targets and fanning who only had 7 hitouts and dropped a few marks. But fannings efforts around the ground were good and he kicked a goal plus had a few tackles.
Rowe was good with 13 touches but again failed to do anything by foot, but he can get loose. Had one great kick on his left which hit a target inside 50 to set up a goal which showed to me he is versatile on either foot and is probably better when he doesnt have to think about it. He has instincts, and reminds me of a young rheece shaw.
Again we beat port through a simple yet deadly gameplan. Absolutely choked them through the middle and we exposed their lack of defensive skills. Although they missed a lot, we missed more and had 6 more scoring shots which is reflected on the scoreboard with a 31 point win. We were the better team all night. Great to see bucks have his first win for the season.
Bucks was not his best tonight but hit targets tonight and kicked a great goal, as well as having 2 other opportunites from outside 50 which he carried the distance easily showing the hammy is doing fine. Spent heaps of time off the ground. We were not reliant on him tonight which was great.
I think port were bad because we made them bad. We have a knack of exposing port like this. Great coaching effort from mick. We will have to take it up a notch to beat brisbane but.
