Seriously COLEingwood.

Those hacks you speak of gave us every chance to knock off the best team of the modern era.

A few things that went against us in the 2002 GF pretty much cost us one of the biggest upsets in AFL history.

In 2003 we had every team covered bar Brisbane.

We can all start raving that the Eagels are supreme because they are full of class.

They were full of class last year and the year before that. The only reason they are slamming everyone this season is because half the top sides have fallen off the pace.

Let's see them make two consecutive grand finals in a season with more than two strong sides, then we can start comparing apples to apples.

Let us also not forget we sent their "classy" side packing in the last two seasons, when we have had less than fantastic sides available.

OK that is it I am sick of reading the absolute crap that is coming out of some peoples meagre brains. This is simple guys. Ask yourself how many guys did Sydney have out there that had played 50 games or less?

How many did we have? Maxwell, C2, C3, Rowe, Egan, Fanning, Swan, Lokan. Whether you like it or not experience does count in close tussles. And Sydneys experience showed and ours was lacking. We had johnson and fraser out, when I heard this I thought we may lose somewhere in the vicinity of 4-5 goals. These boys are playing well above themselves and deserve credit for the great effort they put in week in and week out.

Hell why don't we just trade the whole team. There are not many, and never will be players of buckleys calibre. So stop expecting all of our players young and old to be as good as what he is and support the boys who bleed, sweat, hurt in loss and joy in a win. I am proud of these boys as I am sure MM and the rest of the footy dept are. Because lets face it you run out on the field with the best team you can produce to try and win games to be playing in September. But if you take out any player out of any team in the league such as Bux, Rocca, fraser, Johnson, Shaw, then I am sorry to say be prepared for alot of pain down near the bottom of the ladder.

Once again we have all the supporters taking any opportunity to rip apart boys who are playing their guts out. If you can't see that then you must be seeing a different team that what I am. I am in no way making excuses, I am just allowing people to see that things are not as bad as all seems. And the pathetic thing is I don't see the same people coming on here at all when we win. So who is the Supporter?

By the way MM made a great move in that last 1/4 by sizing down our forward line. To mobile and quick for Sydney's backmen. But hey maybe you negative guys will say he should have done it earlier. But hay I forgot that most of you have coached a team to 2 grand finals with one team and taken another to 2 Grand finals and missed. Oh and that most of you have played more than 50 games for the Upper Cumbucter West League...Oh yeah you know what it is all about. WTF!!!!
All this may be summed up in one word - CHARACTER - and if that is not worth developing, nothing is.

Touched Goal

Post by GoWoodsmen »

Ok 8 pages of abuse of some players and not one mention of the last goal the Swan's got with about 8 mins left on the clock.... it was touched ... we went back and slowed down the footage to frame by frame and you should see Maxwell's (or whoever it was) hand get sprung backwards as the ball leaves Goodes foot. Sucks big time.... and it mattered in the end....

so close....

Taz must have had something on his mind last night..... coz it sure wasn't footy he was interested in!!! :)

Taz must have found a great pub in town that he was dying to get out to

As for the touched, thats the big problem with Collingwood over the years, to often they accept the umpires decision, he didnt jump up and try and claim he touched it to loudly so of course it was given a goal

If Bary Hall does not get 1-2 games with striking Fanning that will be a joke.
I recall Wayne Carey clasjing with Kane Johnson back in '01 and copping a week. With his record he'll get 3.

C2 was good last week. Good last term. Maybe a turning point.

I was atleast able to take some positives out of the game. The boys atleast had a crack. It is quite difficult to play against such a negative opposition! What a champion Bucks is. He would have hot 40+ touches if he had played the full game. So many what if's about the game. The set shot kicking, Wakelin's delivery into the F50 in the dying seconds, Didak's miss, but that's the way it goes!

They were 22 points down and made a great attempt at snatching a win when the chips were down. Yes it is dissapointing to lose by a point it rips at your soul but i strongly beleive that we will gain more than we think from that effort. The kids wil only learn and gain steel from that and what a game from Burns and Buckley!!!!!!!!! And imagine if Tarrant could kick, the amount of games we would have one in the last 4 years.
Well Done to the Boys on a gutsy display.
Go the Mighty Woodsmen!!!!

I went to the game and thought it was a pretty gutsy effort all round. Swans may play ugly but they are a tough, scragging bunch who are bloody hard to beat especially in Sydney.
Only thing that cost us victory was our lack of a dominant forward. We more than matched them in midfield,.
Tarrant is a super athlete and player but is never going to be your Barry Hall type. Hall can cope with having two players trying to stop him when the ball is coming in... he is a man mountain and I thought Presti did a super job just to spoil as often as he did. Tarrant's not one of these gorillas and should not try to be.
Some of the bagging on this site is unjustified... I don't think Lokan had all that much game time; Swan was outstanding under pressure for the most part, probably in our best three players; Woey's confidence is shot but he will bounce back.
We are undermanned and it shows. Give the players a break. Us with no Rocca is like Brisbane with no Brown; Port with no Tredrea etc.
Be sweet to beat Port next week, and then Brisbane, and stuff up their seasons though...
Now or never

BW Phantom- Love your work...fantastic post and EXACTLY how I feel.

We have a LOT to look forward to...Even a 90% fit Collingwood can beat ANY team if we ever had that luxury, been very unlucky with injury this year...no team would of prospered with the amount of outs we had this year...

The most important thing for me after the match was Buckley- our deadset legend- I am so happy for him, I really think he can play for the next 2-3 years and he definitely sounds like he is starting to think the same now... I have a feeling we will win a premiership with him within the next couple and dont think '06 is too early....

We are not Carlton\Hawthorn\Fremantle\Essendon ect who have had most of their best players available week in\week out yet still cant make the eight...if that were the case I might be more pessimistic...but I am HAPPY!!! Just watch it all come together in 06\07

No talk of dumping Malthouse please...

Rapt with our youngsters, even a lot of opposition supporters rate them

Cam Cloke was fantastic...we really need his Grunt

Love Maxwell's cool presence on the field..

Egan is exciting....

Lots to look forward to.........

Sometimes young players learn more from a close loss than a close win.

Cant stand Sydney's tactics but they worked, how many times in that 3rd quarter did they hit us on the counter attack?

And we were too slow to do anything and Paul Roo's knew exactly who to expose- Nick Maxwell, before i go on i am not putting this bloke down, i love the way he goes about his footy but he is still a bit slow and not enough experience. 3 times in the 3rd quarter Sydney cleared their forward 50 and put no one in there even when they had the ball on the wing, then the player that Maxwell was marking would run at full pace inside the 50 without anyone else, all 3 times he was exposed badly, twice by Nick Judas and once by Okeefe 2 goals and a behind they got out of it.

Only 2 goals yes but it still shows that we were outcoached. Again Sydney were boring but it worked AGAIN!
I love Danny Allsopp, Danny Allsopp loves me!

Lots of positives from the game and we must now use the remainder of 2005 as building the platform for 2006.

Swan must learn from the 2 bad errors and no doubt the spray from Hall will ring in his ears for a long while.

Maxwell did his job as best he could and will be a great defender in the JC mode.

This is the first time this year I have seen Presti competely flogged.

Woey is on his way out as are some of the other players and we must look to the future. Yakka, Neon, Rusling and C1 must be getting close as we now need to see what these guys can do.

Egan is great and just has that X factor that we badly need - and if we can get Neon and Cole up to form there will be great potential.

Bux is pure class and showed in the 1st half he was just off the pace - 3rd quarter he got into 2nd gear and in the last when the game was there he really stood up.

Bux is a champion and its a pity Taz doesn't look at his effort and at least give a semi professional effort.

I heard most of it on the radio and saw bits on the telly. Buck's smother was a ripper and Burns was his usual couragerous self. When we were 22 points down in the 4th, i thought we would pack it in but we kept on coming. Well done lads, I saw the last minutes on the box in an italian social club surrounded by essenscum supporters going for the drop scones I tell you I nearly sent a few to knuckle junction when the siren went. I hope we crush those tossers in a few week's time.

As disapointing as it was to go down at least we fought it out and showed we aint quiters and we hopefully fight it out every week.

Great to see Maxwell kick a goal on nick 'turncoat' davis.
