I think we will win for one reason....
Sydney love to run off the half back line. The take far too many risks, a lot of handballs and they just run. Our forwards of cloke, tarrant and rusling are going to make life very hard to evacuate the 50. Release the run from the backline, sydney arent much. There midfield is as slow as ours.
Further, we are as hard as them in the packs. That is one area we can match them.
Buckley will get kirk for sure which is a tough first up matchup but bucks fully fit will beat anybody in the league.
Thank god we are a big club and we dont have to play scg. Telstra stadium suits us.

I think that the Swans key play makers are Leo Barry and Taj Kennenly, Although Barry plays at Full back he wins a lot of the ball and runs it out of defence and creates a lot of play, Kennenly (or how ever you spell it) is the key running player, he gets the ball and runs straight through the middle with blistering pace and quite often delivers to either Hall or O'Laughlin.
I think Kirk will play on Bucks but will not tag him as closely as in previous years, Kirk has become and important ball winner for them and they will wont him to continue to be an offensive weapon.
Other obvious match up:
Brodie vs Willo - starting to develop a bit of a rivalry, dont seem to like each other much
Presti vs Hall - The swans best player against probably the best stopping defender in the business, this duel will be crucial.
Clement vs O'Laughlin - 'mickey' has had a good season so far and seems to be back close to his best but he will need to be against the leagues premier defender.
I think we will win becasue of the reasons earlier identified by Dave, putting pressure of their running defenders is crucial, also will win simply becasue we have to

It is a bit like that Cam, the only difference to last year's and this year's results are that we won our first game in round 2 last year and this year it came in round 3, apart from that it has been identical.
In regards to Nicole, who I will be booing despite my prediction of him not getting any touches, I would put Swan on him as this would be a chance to redeem himself to the magpie faithful. Clemo on O'loughlin sounds good, but who will Wakes take? Will he be the spare man blocking Hall's leads?
I think Woey might go ok up there, he seems to do okay on interstate grounds and he will be a key if the maggies are to get up. My other tips for big games are both the cloke boys and Fraser who will be keen to atone for the last two games.
I still haven't seen the Pies win live so fingers crossed this will be the one.

Didnt we beat WC last year and they finished in the top 8...?Clokey wrote:Last year we didn't beat one team that finished in the top 8.
Balmey said Davis and Johnson, Egan and Buckley the most likely inclusions...
I think we can win this by about 33 points....to many scoring options for them to counter....if you go on the Sydney forum, they seem to be worried about matching up on Taz and T. Cloke, and very worried about Clement as they dont feel they have a match up

We must maintain extreme pressure on there backline by our forwards ( which was lacking in Dees game BTW they rebounded far too easy) Swans play that sought of game where they get all thier drive from the back line. The big ground of TS might expose them a bit, if we play accountable footy and our forwards chase hard!
Never disperse your focus unless absolutely necessary. Face one adversary at a time!

Obviously, we have
OUT = Shaw
IN = Buckley
Don't be surprised if that's the only change despite the drubbing at the hands of the snow-trippers!!
I would like to see Johnno back but he might be well served by a week at Willy,........ if its good for the King why not a soldier!?!?
Otherwise i guess Egan or Davis [If they have showed enough??] for Woey could be an option - but probably not.
From memory [ I was there!!!] Lonie had a good game last year at Telstra Stadium??.. Remember him kicking a trade mark goal and at least 1 other!!! Having said that, my mind was a little clouded shall we say for this road-trip!!!

A little clouded....?? From memory you were last seen jumping up and down in a Sydney scarf screaming repeatedly "The Lonestar!! The Lonestar!!" as he strolled into an open goal......uuuuu..... The LoneSTAR wrote:Obviously, we have

Then again, the catering from our eastern neighbour was quite good....
Beware the swooping Magpie.

My woops. Well anyway we beat them when they were going badly and not in the 8. The point is we have knock off 2 formidable foes this year.PieGal4eva wrote:Didnt we beat WC last year and they finished in the top 8...?Clokey wrote:Last year we didn't beat one team that finished in the top 8.
