Pre-Match Discussion Pies Vs Swans

Post by bwphantom »

This game is critical, just as every game is for us from now until Rnd 22. Don't be fooled Sydney are not sitting in the 8 because of luck. They are a pretty well balanced side. They have a very mobile forward line, but fortunetly their kicking for goal has let them down.

Presti will get Hall and will shut him down. We can win this one if we all combine like we have recently. But hey remember guys our list is still very young.

Bux will play. And I would like to see him play FF, releasing Tarrant upfield. It will be interesting to see who the play on C3. It may show that the Harbour boys realise that he is a threat.

If our midfield can combine well we will win. However, it will be close.

Pies by 8.
All this may be summed up in one word - CHARACTER - and if that is not worth developing, nothing is.

We'll win for two reasons:

1: The Buckley factor

2: We have to. To be any chance, we just must win this week, with Port and Brisbane to come.

A must win game for us -

Obvious dangers are Barry Hall and Adam Goodes.

Clement on Hall?

Hopefully Johnno is back in the side this week.

There is more to worry about than Hall and Goodes.

Williams needs to be shut down if we are to have any chance. He is very important to them.

If Willo gets close to 30 touches their forward line will be too much to handle. All of them are starting to find form... Even the sook

Don't bother with the win, just knock out Davis in the first 5 minutes, be happy then.

Will Davis even play?

Put Morrison on Williams

Goodes? Haha, no threat to any team

If we dont win this we deserve to be wooden spooners

Davis will play.

I wouldn't put Mumbles on Willo. A tad too slow. And it will be good to see Holland and Williams go at it once again.

I'd throw Presti on Hall early, and Maxwell on O'Louhlan (sp?). Goodes's star has dimmed in recent times. Kirk will run with Bucks.

Williams would burn Morrison. Morrison just doesn't have the pace to go with Williams.

I expect atleast two changes for this game, with Buckley and Egan coming in. Apparently Egan wasn't all that good for three qtrs in the Williamstown game, but when the game was there to be won in the last, he took the game by the scruff. He will probably come in because of that effort.

It sounds like Brayden Shaw isn't that far off either.

I'm not so sure Kirk will run with Bucks. I reckon they will want to expose Bucks' lack of match fitness, and will let Kirk provide some run.

Out: Shaw (injured), Woewodin

Backs: D. Swan S. Prestigiacomo J. Clement
Half Backs: S. Wakelin N. Maxwell, R. Lonie
Centre: P. Licuria S. Burns, Buckley
Half Forwards: A. Didak T. Cloke J. Fraser
Forwards:S. Rusling, C. Tarrant B. Caracella
Followers: T. Lockyer, B. Holland, C. Cloke

Interchange: C. Morrison, O'Bree, J. Rowe, Not sure who else

Possibles to be dropped include: Morrison, Lonie (although he did 'okay' last week) - I don't like his tackling though, Woey. Probably others.

Presti on hall. He always shuts an carves him up. If Goodes plays in the forward line put wakelin on him. Holland on Williams for a classic battle. Burns might get Kirk but he might be put on Licca.

My Changes:

IN: Buckley, Johnson.
OUT: Woewodin, Morrison.

Ryan O'Keefe is a dangerman. Johnson or Morrison (if he plays) have to play on him. He can easily break a game open with 3 quick goals. Also the pace of Kennelly and Barry off halfback will be a key factor. That is their rebound line. Maybe Egan could play as a defensive forward on one of the two?

Luke, you will need one more player to come in. Considering Shaw did his knee.

Ah yes good point Joel. Throw one of Egan, Hertier or even Brayden Shaw in. Hertier can be promoted in the wake of Shaw's knee.
