Did anyone else notice how good the Melbourne forward set up was? Compared to ours...they had a line down the middle which meant only 1 had to make the main lead and another half lead...and always into space...if they had have kicked straight or held marks...we'd have been down by 5 at quater time...
the difference was our set up was scattered around the inside 50...no room to lead...cuz there was always one of us in front...easy for a defender to drop back...like most did on Taz all day..
just thought Melbournes set up was excellent...

I think fraser has the flu/cold - as with C3 - he was a bit flat. in fact all of the side was apart from Burnsy, Dutch and Dids.
we played intense footy for the past few weeks and it would everntually equate to today....nothing in the tank. we need to be more efficient in our footy - decision making was poor - picking up the ball from ground was horrific and placement was atrocious.
we'll pick up again >
OUT: Woewodin, Shaw, Lonie (not influencial enough for me)
IN: Buckley, Egan, Iacobucci - need pace for shaw
i hope its not its not an ACL from what ive heard about shaw - and Swan - heard he was crying because he thought the loss was his fault - mate you tried - it wasnt you fault. you gave it your best!
Side by side black and white.

It may not turn him into a sprint star but it will make him a bit more responsive and improve his strength - if he converts it to muscle.
10% improvement can have huge consequence.
How many tired kicks did he spray into the forward line?
They may have been the result of lack of focus. Either way he needs to improve both sides of his game.
If he is not a ruckman what is he? CHF? Sorry we already have one.
FF? Too slow.
The reason he is in the ruck is because there is no other position for him.

Yes reported on 3AW that Swan was in tears and had to be consoled by MM as he felt it was his fault we lostrez_83 wrote: and Swan - heard he was crying because he thought the loss was his fault - mate you tried - it wasnt you fault. you gave it your best!

It wasn't Swanny - you tried your guts out - hard to beat your opponent when the ball is coming in like that time after time
Don't believe for a minute these guys don't feel it as much if not more than we do!!!!

I personally thought Swanny was gutsy all day. Sure he got beat by Yze, but that wasn't his fault, he did his best and i thought he did us proud.bucks4ever wrote:Yes reported on 3AW that Swan was in tears and had to be consoled by MM as he felt it was his fault we lostrez_83 wrote: and Swan - heard he was crying because he thought the loss was his fault - mate you tried - it wasnt you fault. you gave it your best!

I thought Clement was very good, he wasn't on Miller when Miller was ripping it up in the 1st quarter Wakelin was, everytime one of their forwards got a run on Clement was moved onto them, he shut Yze down in the last even though the almost all the play was in their forward line.
I also thought Maxwell got towelled up, especially by Robertson at the end.
Morrison was pathetic, I dont care how many times he got it he is too slow and cant kick, if he does it a targer it goes 20m and is like a samdwedge.
Brodie and O'Bree were both allright but made bad skill errors at important times.
Feel very sorry for Shaw, he is the last guy who deserved this.

Mate, be realistic. Cam was average today. tried his guts out, but needs to pull his finger out and forget about squabbling about umpiring decisions and get on with the game. He obviously has a huge kick (which isn't always put to good use), and has a bad temper. Has footy smarts, but....? Don't get me wrong, I like him and see a future in him. But for now, he needs a rest in the VFL. Fraser should not be dropped. Rested, if he is ill.eddiesmith wrote:All those calling for Cams dropping, i dont think so, as bad as he may have been today, Josh Fraser should be the first one dropped from the team
Outs: Fraser, Shaw
In: Fanning, Buckley
For now

Yze - champion. Swan - guy who works his backside off to get a game each week. Not his fault we lost, is it? The midfield battles killed us, sadly.Sultan of spin wrote:marvellous Yze kicked 4 in 15 minutes on him and won Melb the game.Johnson#26 wrote:Agree with all said on Swan. He was marvelous today in a difficult role. He did provide some run and tried his hardest to turn defense into attack. Up there for most improved.

Forgive me if its all been posted before, to much to read right through.
Smashed, completely smashed in the midfield after half time, when are we going to go with some of the new and move on from some of the old in there.
Backline held up manfully for three quarters before some of the kids dropped off (Swan, Maxy). The Dees forwards were a handful all day and it was actually quite remarkable to me that we held them as long as we did. That said, they kicked poorly early. Yze got right away from Swan in the end and crushed his new found confidence. Swanny likes to run off, read the play and read the fall of the ball coming in. Yze was too smart for that and dropped off and created the loose man also, he's a very good and experienced player and just did Swan cold for body position a few times. How good was Miller, FMG slaughtered the form CHB in the competition then had A/A form Clem rattled. Didn't really hurt us on the board but heck I was impressed.
Forward line didn't fire too many shots today, Dees backline was very good, out-played us after halftime, killed us in our forward line in fact, but our entry was pretty ordinary and our structure seemed farked this week.
They had plenty more in the tank in the end and ran right over the top of us. We had a few injuries but, we also had all the plodders going around and few fresh young legs to call on.
Green didn't kick a goal but did set a couple up when Lones dropped off him. Lones just aint the future to me, he's part of our past, 2 grand final losses and a 14th. We need to move forward and I doubt very much that Lones is one of the men to do it.
The kids were due for a downer, the plod squad couldn't keep it up for too much longer (particularly when all lumped together). Got to look to it as a development year for the rest of teh season methinks.

Agreed we difinitely lost the game in the midfield but to say Swan was marvellous is an exageration.
Best for me: Didak, Clement, Burns, Lockeyer
In: Buckley, Johnson (if fit), Egan - we need some pace
Out: Morrison, Shaw (inj), Woey or Lonie
Maxwell and Swan were outclassed but we have to stick with them
