You can't blame Mick - and that is from someone who is not one of his biggest fans.
Lonie broke my heart today.
There were two contests where he refused to make body contact. It was vital that he did.
He lingered off his man 3 times and was lucky not to get punished.
Either we concede that he is not a defender or de-list him. As a defender he is a travisty. Find out if he can play on a wing now or make plans to ship him to the Hawks.
STOP wasting time with this stubbornness. Play him somewhere else or piss him off forever if he cannot find his niche.
Is Morrison a footballer? I don't care if he had 400 posessions in the first 2 minutes of play. How many shin kicks did he perform today? He gets his possessions sweeping half back. Mate, who couldn't get 20 touches running around HB without a bloody man.
Something is wrong if this man does not retire at the year end.
Bring Cole back into the side. I'd rather have a fast stuff-up than a guy who takes his walking kain out onto the footy field.
Losing Shaw was devistating given that we were short on run.
Out: Morrison, Lonie
In: Johnno, Buckley
Rus and Rowe are trying hard. If Mick were prepared to play Cole in the middle I would drop Rowe. Otherwise no change.

hey hey hey, everyone back off lonie just a minute. He played on Brad Green today and was starting from full back. Brad Green had 13 touches and did not kick a goal. Lonie was with him for most of the game apart from maybe a 2 minute period at the beginning of the second quarter where green got 2 loose handballs. Lonie was playing the position we all know he hates yet stood up against a quality opponent. He was smart enough to run up field and kick a goal when it counted too. I thought it was a good game for lonie as he finally showed he had the ability to play one on one.
That said, why was lonie playing in the goal square 1 on 1 against Brad Green when morrison was in the middle doing nothing. Surely morrison should be thrown to half back and lonie in the middle. Also found it strange mick put woey on bruce. Bruce is a far better player and much taller. No doubt he went crazy. Woey did a few good things but dropped off after been put onto bruce. His scoop and handball to set up a goal was brilliant but there wasnt enough of it.
Now forget about the forward line, forget about the midfield. We lost the game in one place today. The ruck and onball division. Jeff White has not been in great form, and today spent 50 minutes off the ground. Thats nearly half the match. However he was still able to notch up 25 hitouts and about 15 touches! Even Paul Johnson who relieved was beating josh and cam cloke in the ruck.
Cloke only got 6 hitouts today. Just not enough. Fraser was marginally better with 15 but did little else around the ground apart from a great saving mark in defence. Cloke also took one or 2 good marks but nothing else. Cloke has played half a year now in the ruck, and obviously isnt expected to beat a player like jeff white, but he had to be more competitive. Fraser has gone backwards however is obviously still hampered by injury to have cam cloke starting as first ruck.
Our forward line shouldve gone crazy today, but wasnt allowed to by the slow movement through the middle. No wonder tarrant got restless. Trav did well to go and win the ball around the ground, i though Tarrant shouldve done the same as nicholson shouldnt have been able to go with him in the middle. Seemed strange tarrant stayed at home all day considering nicholson is good one on one. HOwever we were smacked in the clearences. We simply hung on for the first half and totally let up in the second. Once melbourne found their range infront of goal it was over. They shouldve kicked some easy goals they missed in the first half as well.
A game we didnt deserve winning. Season not over but just about there with brisbane and port finding form.
My votes for our best on the ground:
3. Tarkyn Lockyer- Great job on davey, notched up over 30 possies himself and fixed up neitz. His best for the year apart from a few errors.
2. James Clement- There just wasnt enough of him today as mick played him on about 5 different opponents whilst wakelin sat on the bench. Held Bruce early until he was needed on miller who already had 10 marks into the second quarter, then moved to robertson and yze who he did not give up a goal to. The problem was when he was moved from an opponent, they got busy. 18 touches off half back was good too. Just needed wakelin to do more but he was off for most of the match strangely.
1. Paul Licuria- 28 touches, stood up after a poor first quarter in which he only obtained 2 touches. 8 marks as well. Shame we couldnt do it for him on his 150th.
Special mention to didak who should really be in there but went missing a bit in the 2nd and last quarter due to a calf problem. Also thought Rowe and Lonie(shut down green) did their jobs. Obree gave us a bit of run considering he was suffering from an injury he incurred from the first quarter.
Votes for worst:
3. Chad Morrison- Hardly sighted, slow and inneffective disposal.
2. Cam Cloke- 6 hitouts from your number 1 ruckman not good enough. Tried hard again but was convincely beaten. Was always a tough ask against White but if you look purely at the game, the ruck was where we lost it.
1. Josh Fraser- Was slightly better with 15 hitouts and looked more dangerous but again, the ruck was where we lost and he was not sighted around the ground and could not provide a forward option we so desperately need from him. Must still be suffering from injury.
Woey escapes because of the brilliant handball and the fact that morrison was worst.
One last note: Thought Nathan Buckley shouldve been played today so he would have the split round to recover from his first seroius hitout since round 1. He will probably pull up sore against sydney and will have to back up within a week. Guy mckenna before the game said buckley was fully fit. If so, then whats another 2 weeks going to do if he is already 100%. But they know best.

Lonie presented on many an occassion, was clear and ignored - don't think you can drop a bloke after one game in - unless there is more to the story than we know??
The delivery into the forward line was shocking
Would not drop Cam - he is getting hands to the ball and starting to hold his marks - will get better with time in the Ones
Easy to forget how young and how little senior footy some of these guys have played and in Cam's case the recent shoulder surgery
Remember the Dreamons were top of the ladder last year leading into the finals and bombed out in straight sets!!!!!!!!
Having been up and down the mountain in the past few seasons they have availed themselves of picks they got for inconsistenciy

Cam is not a damn ruckman and the sooner everyone, including Mick realise this you may realise he aint as shit as you all make out
I would drop Fraser in a heartbeat before Josh because at least Cam offers more to the team than Josh right now, Josh is unfit, playing like shit and is the softest player in the team.

probably right eddiesmith. Cam took a few good contested marks today. The thing is he is been played as our number 1 ruckman week in week out. Our number 1 ruckman had only 6 hitouts today, theirs had 25 in half a match of footy. The team as a whole did not have 25 hitouts. If Cams position is going to be ruck, he should be dropped quickly. However Frasers efforts were very very poor.

Little bemused by those that thought Lonie was ordinary. As was mentioned he kept Green very quiet. I agree he should have had body contact a couple of times but don't forget on both occassions the Dees mids had kicked long from the bounce down. Blame the mids - not Lonie! He then went and kept Miller quiet - moreso than either Clement or Wakes.
Presti - was real good. Year after year he keeps Neitz quiet. Another good one Presti!
Clement - 2 votes - Your kidding! He got CARVED UP by Miller! As was mentioned on TV he gets a lot of loose balls cleaning up. He was ok - Lockyer and Burns much better.
Cam Cloke - FFS, this bloke is not a ruckmen. Notwithstanding he stands up and has a go. Moreso than Fraser has in the last 2 weeks. Whoever said, "Fraser should go first" - I agree. Cam didn't have a great one but lets remember he was real good v cats!
Rowe - you would be kidding to think he played well. He has a long way to go. Ordinary day at best. 2nd ordinary game in a row.
OBree - if you could not see today how much of anchor this bloke is to the CFC - then you simply dont understand the importance of quick and skillful mid's in our game.
Agree - MM should have given Swan, Didak, Tarrant a go in the middle in the last.

Lost the contests
The amount of times we lost a contest to falling over and not putting our legs or body behind the ball was telling. How many times did Melb get the ball away after it bounced off their ankles? How many times were we out of the contest cos we didn't stay on our feet. These are basic football skills we neglected to carry out. We hung in there in the first half but didn't look impressive. The tackles were way down and the intensity way down and we all knew what would happen if that was the case, we'd be blown away eventually.
I don't see any reason to panic. Melb were just too good today. Too slick, confident and skilled. Lets continue rebuilding and not throw away all the improvement of the past month. Johno, Bucks and Egan or Davis back in as well as maybe Davies or Yakka. Travis and Rusling are only 18. Melbourne have had no real injuries this year and are much more settled.
ps. Bad luck Rhys. Hope its no too bad.

chris71 good post. Good to see someone agreeing with me on Lonie and i failed to mention the fact that he was on miller in the last quarter and miller hardly touched it. Infact miller went into the last quarter with 13 marks and finished with 13. Spot on with obree too.
But on clement as presti, presti had 3 kicked on him before neitz went off so it wasnt his best game although i agree he played ok. Clement did not play on miller in the first quarter. After clement went onto him it was a really good contest. Miller took a few good 1's, Clement also forced him under the ball a few times. But i actually agree that burns was better and i may have overlooked him in the votes.
Rowe wasnt as bad as you said but couldnt find it at all in the second half after a good first.
