This is the way I see it. Both forward lines are pretty even. Both have the ability to point goals on the board. Our Backline is alot stronger than the Dees. This gives us an advantage on the scoreline if our forward continue with the form they have shown in the last few weeks. However, the Dees forward line would be very hard to stop if they get good delivery coming forward from the midfield. This game comes down to us choking their midfield, and at the same time, get enough of our hands on it we can feed our forward line to kick a winning score. We have shown that our midfiled can run with the best in the League by defeating WCE and Geelong's Midfield, argubly the best in the League. And i don't believe that their midfield is in the same class. The key is to apply pressure to the running midfiled as we have recently by running, tackling, getting in and under packs and backing eachother in.

Melbourne will be feeling pretty nervous about this game, because they know we have had the edge over them in the last few seasons. And they know how lucky they were to come away with a win in 2004. As for us some are saying our season is in the balance with this game. The only reason this is so is because of the brand of footy we have played recently that shows we could rock the top 8. I say boys forget about this just clear your heads and play Footy. Move the pressure onto the Demons because a loss to us could see them move out of the Top 4. And there run home is not easy. Neither is ours, but I believe we don't have as much to lose.

All this may be summed up in one word - CHARACTER - and if that is not worth developing, nothing is.

We have nothing to lose, we're still not a real finals threat. But we have much to gain - if we win this we are a REAL finals threat.

EVERYONE wants us to lose because they know that if we get in there, even at eighth, we are an experienced, dangerous finals team who can do the impossible a la 2002. You cansee it in the way that our incredible wins have been pretty much ignored. We get the exact minimum amount of praise for our efforts, and I'm loving it! It shows they are scared.

But Phantom is right, we need to keep throwing it around, & keep enjoying our footy. When we play like we are having fun we are truly unstopable.

I think Bux will play. He won't play a full game but it will be like we have a very talented roookie on the bench. He'll be a plus for us if he's on the field.

Bucks might play depending on whether or not Mick will risk him (remember rd 1 before then he was training just as well as he is now and did his hamstring again!). I think they should have named Johnno ahead of Lokan. I agree with Lonie but not C1.

I think Bucks will play, he has been training well, if he comes back this week he gets a week off after his first game back which would help him recover, and if he is fit now then resting him further isn't going to strengthen his hamstring any more, at some stage he will just have to test it!

My feeling is still that MM will go for minimal changes, so if Bucks plays I reckon he will be the only in for Egan, agree with earlier posts re C1, Lokan and Lone's games V Melb last year, but think it would be more MM putting the wind up Daniher, listing them on the extended bench, then not playing them, giving him something to think about.

Have to say now that Caroline Wilson has brought Woe's plight to the attention of the wider footballing world that this really is an important game for Woe, he must stand up and show MM and the footy world what he is made of against his old club.

Just to re-iterate, I have a feeling Tarrant and Morrison are both due for big games this week, just a feeling, does anyone else think this?

If Fraser can run with and neutralis White, then I think that will be good for Collingwood, but also good for Frase, as it will help him find a 'mark' to aim for in a similar built player.

Everyone is talking about Bruce and Green as the "goal-kicking Midfielders", but we have two of our own in the form of Holland and O'bree, add Bucks to that mix and Melbourne must be thinking hard about how to shut us down!

a bit off topic, but I just watched a pretty good game on the tellie and saw a gallant Essendon fall at the last in the torrential rain to a WC team that really look the goods (So we're still the only team this year to beat 'em!)...

I think MM said early in the week that Bucks was ready to play and that he would either play in the Willi 2's or for CFC, I have noticed that he wasn't named in the Willi 2's team so I presume that this means he is going to play on Monday.

I dunno about Morrison but I think Tarrant could run riot, lets just hope his conversion is a bit better.

i reckon if bucks was not going to play, we would be promiting him as a 100% certainty to play as the lions have done 3 weeks straight with nigel lappin. The fact that we are saying he is unlikely is promising methinks.

I've asked this in the Williamstown Factor, however, since it relates to this game - did bucks play for Willi 2s today?

Really excited about this game.
I just hope the boys keep up their awesome form of late because they will really give it to the Melbourne boys.

It will be good to see Rusling and Travis again this week and to see if Mick changes the structure of the forward line because if Bucks plays (fingers crossed) he could slot into the forward line nicely.
Bucks can play anywhere and he will be an asset to the team but I expect him to only come out in 10 minute stints. If he plays half a game that is fine with me !

The only dangers I see are Davey and Bruce, they need to have a minimal impact on the game. If they fire up, it will be hard to stop them.

Can't wait for the game though
So shattered my first ever Uni exam is on so I will miss the game :(
But I will be there in spirit...

GO PIES
Tackle Hard !!!
