Dont think they will delist him Doc, the guy looks like a classy reciever but does have a problem in that his type of player does need good disposal to warrant a place in the side which he does not have.

Once we get a full list back he will have a chance at Willy to develop it, everything else is there but he needs serious work on a few basic skills.

I'm always positive mate. I tested positive to Hep C in 1993 and I've been positive ever since :(

You want some positives ...

... yeah, all right.

Great kicking for goal. All day. I noticed Travis Cloke kicking goals in the pre-game warm up from 60 metres out ... and then he managed to kick one in the match ... First quarter. Beautiful kick.

I think Tarrant dobbed one from a similar distance ... and then, of course, there was that Pele-style miracle goal in the last quarter

And Caracella's kicking for goal was exemplary too. He'd be the guy you'd want to have lining up from 40 metres after the siren when you're a few points down.

The Pies were a lot more direct for much of the game, too. I noticed it especially in the first quarter. They actually looked like a finals contender for the first quarter of the match. They fell victim to the flood a lot in the middle stages of the game, though.

Sorry ... that's about as far as I can go ... don't want to ruin my image 8)

Oh and the other thing, good to see NO WALKER, the quicker they piss him off the list, the better.

After spending the past week at a hospital for my Clinical Placement for Uni, I woke up Saturday morning feeling sick
So I spent the whole day in bed ... coughing like a dog and having trouble breathing. But was lucky enough to have Foxtel so watched the game live. But was still shattered as I missed being there. :(

Anyway there were a lot of positives again today...

- The future of the forward line is looking the goods : Tarrant, Trav, Rusling, Didak, Egan and Rocca when fit.

- O'Bree did improve this week, which we needed as Lica and Burnsie didnt have their best games.

- Clement and Wakes were just pivotal yet again in defence. Presti was also good and was unlucky when Williams got cheap goals from free kicks, etc.
I still haven't recovered from the holding the ball decision in the goal square in the last quarter on Lica. It resulted in a Franklin goal... grrr

- Fraser getting through the game OK... will be good when he gets fully fit and against Everitt put in a great effort.

Just one negative was the amount of times players like Hodge, Crawford and Mitchell were free. The boys need to man up a lot more, which to their credit they did improve in the final quarter.

Bring on Geelong !!

Big T wrote:Another annoying thing on Fox was Tony Shaws commentary. Questioned both of Taz's frees and made no mention of the treatment he was getting, or Dids or Cara, off the ball. Maybe Eddies spray about Taz last week has galvanised all media outlets to not mention Taz's scragging at all, and although he did get a couple of frees yesterday, they were outside 50 and none of the inside 50 holding was paid.

But I guess every full forward cops a flogging in holding and scragging these days.
But Tarrant was robbed of more then a few. Deserved one or two more from where I sat.

Good on ya Alf! :)

A good solid gutsy win by the boys against a team that has decent form, alas the week after going west hoodoo was evident.
Good to see youngsters being played & standing up.
Even Tarrant was kicking long bombs & pulling em out of his rectum in the goal square.
What the hell was that free against Burns all about :?

Great game, loved the result and no complaints this week, either! 50,000 crowd and just loved the looks on Hawks supporters' faces towards the end. The Great Southern Stand was almost deserted with five minutes still to go. One minute it's a sea of brown and gold, the next all you could see were empty blue seats! The Social Club was a bit quieter this week, but the beer tasted just as good as last week's. I'd barely gotten to the bar when the ladder came up on the TV screen showing Carlton on the bottom and that sure added even more enjoyment!

I suspect that reports of Hawks' midfield dominance are over-blown. Mitchell is certainly a ball magnet but has anyone yet noticed that he's been "credited" with 18 clangers as well? Shades of McGough, says I. He was just as effective winning the ball for us as he was for Hawthorn! Crawford and Hodge are merely show-ponies; it was Mitchell who was in the middle doing all the hard work but he wasted possession half the time. Actually, that was the story of the whole game; Hawthorn not only over-used the ball (far too many handballs - they were taking 5-6 kicks/handballs to move it 40-50 yards and then we grabbed it back through sheer pressure on the man with the ball), they kicked into touch all the time, thereby converting possession into a throw-in and we won more than our fair share of those throw-ins, so you can count them as virtual turn-overs.

I was surprised at Presti starting on Williams and that it took Malthouse until late in the 3rd quarter to shift him on to Franklin and Jimmy on to Williams. Great game by Jimmy again. Ditto Wakes and Maxwell. Clarkson mentioned the lack of a tall forward as being the reason they didn't kick long into their forward line but that's a furphy; our backline was rock solid. Even if they'd hung on to Nathan Thompson (who played a great game for North on Saturday night), I doubt it would have made any difference.

What I'm starting to really love about our lot, though, is the immense creativity on our forward line. We're playing direct, attacking footy and our second and third efforts are terrific, even if we don't take the big grab. Travis, Egan, Taz, Cara and Dids were causing Hawthorn all sorts of problems. Even Ruzza, looking somewhat out of his depth in his first game (as he's only started to realise how tough it is at this level but will undoubtedly benefit from the run even if he goes back to Willi this week) was instrumental in a couple of goals and he certainly played with considerable endeavour. I'd love to see us with one more tall in the forward line, Cam or even Walker coming into the side, so as to benefit from rotating the ruckman as well (meaning that Fraser/Fanning or Cam/Tex would rest at FF). Ruzza looked more like a pocket than a key forward and Travis was even tried at FF at times, evidence that we clearly needed one more big bloke up forward at times.

I'm looking forward to Friday night's game now. Three weeks ago we looked dead in the water and facing a huge loss to the Cats, but now, I'm reasonably confident we'll give this a big shake. We're playing the Pussies now, after all.

Got the points.

Can't grizzle.

... oh, and by the way ... Egan still can't kick.
Alf, i personally don't care what you think (just like the sticker). You've jumped off the bandwagon so long ago it doesn't matter and basically all you've become on this board is a troll.

go back to barracking for your Real Team.
:
Which of my statements would you care to dispute?

You SURELY don't really think Collingwood played well today, do you?

We were playing an absolute dud team with a Subiaco hangover and they outplayed us for most of the game. We had a very good first quarter. A disastrous 2nd quarter. A mediocre 3rd quarter ... and when the job was there to be done in the last quarter we did enough to get the points.

I said "can't grizzle".

Do you know what that means?

It means I'm satisfied ... OK.

And I only mentioned the fact that Egan can't kick because it's true. He couldn't kick if his life depended on it and that just becomes more and more obvious every week.

I "personally don't care what you think" either ... but if you want post your crap, go ahead.

If you reckon anyone who disagrees with you is a "troll" it's amazing you've lasted this long on any Bulletin Board ... let alone this one.
Yeah, right alf.It appears that if you don't like some of the comments you receive then you get moderated off the thread, ALA the comment I made to you when you called one of OUR young players a "turd". I still say you can get stuffed, no matter who you think you are.

My throat's still recovering I nearly bursted a couple of blood vessels in my brain in the last quarter. I was really happy with Wakes, Didak, O' bree, Swan, Caracella, Tarrant and Clement. Our tackling and our endeavour won us that game. Let's keep it coming lads, long way to go yet but your doing the hard things which is bloody pleasing.

For those who praise O'brees game - Please don't be fooled by the low standards he has set himself in the last 2 years and DO NOT read too much into the amount of kicks & handballs he collects.
YES, he did have a good game,... no doubt - and deserves his spot for next week IMHO. However please note that:
- He kicked to ball to advantage of the opposition often
- He looks intent of racking up disposals and not overly worried about how effective they are!!
- Carra kicked 5, Clement blocked & repelled all day, Mitchell set an AFL clearance record & had 39 touches..... Obree in the votes?? Please
OK, got that off my chest (Sorry but i just can't swallow it!!!) and let me add that:
- Carra is the smart & accurate forward we have been craving!!! Great game! Accuracy in front of goal is SO important!
- Didak is getting better with everygame,... Nick who??????????
- Holland is underrated!
- Good stuff Ryce!!!
- Another solid contribution from Swan
- Lica is struggling but i'm sure will put it together soon!
- How dangerous could our froward line be NOW & for the next few years?!?!

Can't wait for Friday night!!!!
