Great win, Hawks over posessed the ball far too much and rely too much on Williams.

Great game bye Carra & Didak.

Carlton go bottom, does it get any better !!!!!!!!!!

It's interesting how most analysts consider the midfield to be all important, (and midfielders stats to tell the story) yet today:
Crawford-31 possessions
Hodge-32 possessions
Mitchell-39 possessions

Burns-7 possessions
Licuria-10 possessions
Johnson-10 possessions

The stat today that mattered. Tackles:
Hawthorn-31
Collingwood-49

We were pretty good today. Showed far more class early on and our direct movement of the footy had us well in front on the scoreboard, even though Hawthorn had almost double the amount of possessions. It was frustrating to see them claw back a 34-point margin, but we blew them away in the last quarter.

Our forward line is looking increasingly dangerous, with Caracella and Didak providing the spark over the past couple of weeks. Travis Cloke is presenting beautifully at CHF and Tarrant is doing his job, although not playing as well as he could at the moment. He looks to be carrying a slight injury to me. Add Rocca, Fraser and Leon Davis to the mix and we have plenty of options.

The backline was again very solid, with Clement and Wakelin winning far more contests than they lose. Presti was mismatched against Williams who kicked 5.

The great thing for me was that some of our senior players and premier ball winners were very quiet, but others stepped up. Licuria, Burns, Johnson, Morrison and Lockyer did basically nothing all day. It was encouraging to see others lift their game and get plenty of it - O'Bree and Dane Swan two standouts. We're playing good footy at the moment - playing far more direct and kicking long, winning one-on-one contests all over the ground, and showing toughness and desperation around the ball.

Hehe, Ahh, Canberra, you'll bite yer tongue off before you'll say anything nice about Cheesy! He has been vital in the 2 wins, yes he's made turnovers, because he's been doing EXACTLY what we needed, taking chances to get the ball moving!

Agree with everything else though. To the letter!

From what I could tell on the radio, we were great forward, great back, gutsy in the middle at the end when it mattered, and tackled like madmen all day. Imagine that team with a couple of stars in the midfield and a fit ruck division. The recent coaching focus on hurting sides the other way was an understatement.

O'Bree was our best today at winning the ball in the middle. If you think back he has actually been improving gradually. This is not the week to bag him guys.

Travis, big big future.

Im going to do the controversial best and worst votes again after a lot of criticism last week.

But first, young kids are just starring and Obree was fantastic. Cant believe it took mick so long to realise clement had to go to williams. 5 touches to nill in the last quarter absolutely shut williams out of the game. Presti was galant as well i thought but wasnt the right match up. However any other backman, williams wouldve got 10.

Our ruck division was pittiful. Fanning was just way out of his depth agains the best ruckman in the league but it was a good experience for him. Fraser did much better and actually hurt everitt going the other way a few times. However we were smashed out of the middle. Hawks dominated possession.

The reason we won was simple. Our defence. Clement, Wakelin and Presti would have to be the best going around. Apart from wiliams, the hawks just did not look like going close to scoring.

Rowe was promising, egan continues to dazzle, rusling showed a good couple of 2nd and third effort and could possibly add another dimension to our forward line.

I like the look of rusling in there over cloke and egan in over davis. The reason is egan, tarrant, rusling, trav and didak makes our forward line very difficult to clear. All are exceptionally fast and are great tacklers. Hawks struggled so ofter to get clear even though they had numbers.

The dissapointing aspect wouldve been our manning up through the centre. Mitchell and Hodge had no opponents after they were pretty well held in the first. Hodge again became comfortable in the backline notching up 11 marks and 32 uncontested possessions really. However our defence was so rock solid.

Now for the controversial votes. Eddiesmith i cant bag cameron cloke this week so it makes it tougher lol.

First the best.

3. James Clement: 23 touches, held both his opponents and generaled the backline, real captains effort

2. Shane Obree: 27 touches. The most pleasing thing was his ability to read the ball off spiders hands and finally gave us a few clearences in the last quarter when we were really getting smashed. The only midfielder who stoof up.

1. Blake Caracella: Unlucky didak but blakes extra goal did the job. Has added reliability to our goalkicking which is a change from Tarrant and Rocca who one can never predict.

Special mentions to Brodie holland with 22 gutsy touches and was there on the last line a lot of times. Trav was good.
Swanny with 23 touches was brilliant and is hard to tackle, im starting to like him which is something i never wouldve predicted.

Worst
3. Morrison: 7 touches, was not sighted, tagged hodge well in the first quarter but was lost there after. Was too slow. HOwever first bad game in a while i reckon

2. Scott Burns: 7 touches, benched quite often. Most dissapointing was the fact he had not 1 tackle which is very unlike burns, but hawks midfield was right on top. Still a champ in my eyes.

1. Fanning: Tough on the kid but 4 touches and 5 hitouts from our starting ruckman is nothing to right home against. Will learn from the experience.

Licuria just missed out because he had 4 good tackles and lifted in the last quarter with 6 touches when was needed. Still a dirty day with only 10 possessions but there is no way licuria will have 2 bad matches straight. Lockyer had 17 touches but was not one of his best games. Was ok by foot.

In a way, these votes are pleasing because it showed our young kids were able to take on big responsibilties. Our tackling was unbelievable again. With geelong loosing, who knows.

Woewoedin, lonie and davis will struggle. Watched a bit of them in the reserves, woey kicked 3 good goals and did alright from what i saw but davis had a shocker. Lonie played ok from the glimpses i saw. They will all struggle to get into the side.
There's more to life than footy.........just not much more.

Great team effort, good to middle tear players step up when Lica and Burns are off. My votes:

3 Clement - brillant job on Williams in 2nd half, 19 kicks at fullback is tremendous

2 Caracella - his 5 goals were the difference

1 Holland - started on the bench but when he came on his hardness was crucial at the stoppages and in one on one midfield battles

Other Best players included: Didak, O'Bree, Wakelin and Swan

Tarrant and Cloke both did some good things and Fraser was important in the ruck in the 2nd half
