collingwood forever wrote:DaVe86 what is the purpose of giving votes for worst three. I thought Maxwell played good, if Davies isn't on ground and is only 18 what do you expect, and whatever C2 does you won't have a good word to say!!!

What about O'Bree's disposal?
collingwoodforever and eddiesmith, you are right there was probably no purpose but i have been giving the votes for best and worst since round 1. I said it would be very hard to decide and i dont think im a cameron cloke bagger. I actually admire the way he has fought in the ruck this year. The truth about him is that he isnt presenting enough around the ground and isnt breaking packs up which i know he has the capability to do. There were a few attempts up forward where he just stopped and didnt run through, i still think maybe his shoulder worries him and he did cop a knock earlier in the game which may have restricted him as he spent a lot of time off the ground. If Cameron Cloke plays a good game i will admit it. The west coast game was an improvement but he has the potential to do more.

The fact he has rucked has not allowed him to really demonstrate his ability i suppose. Please do not think i am a cloke bagger, i just dont think he has played a good game yet this year. But his efforts have been admirable.

There were not any really bad players but i thought id do the votes anyway since its been my tradition after every match. I just looked at stats. But ill admit i was a little harsh on him, he showed more promise than he has shown in the past few weeks. So please do not read too much into those votes, there was just no one else to chose. As i said, if the votes were for the worst on ground from both sides, no collingwood players would feature.

Further, if you have payed attention to my posts, i have been critical of Tarkyn Lockyer and obree far more than cloke and i thought obree and lockyer were fantastic on the weekend.

It's why I hate talk of tanking or going for a priority pick. Ah, the bloody Ponsford was rocking all day. Even though the crowd was only 31,000, we gave it everything. Could hardly raise a croak myself afterwards! I haven't enjoyed abusing opposition players and umpires as much as that for ages. There's no way known anyone can say they didn't enjoy that win.

It was just what I'd been hoping for when Eddie said we'd all get new seats together in the new stand. Christ, it felt like Vic Park all over again. The beer afterwards in the Social Club tasted a helluva lot better, too! I can't remember how many times the club song was sung in there after the game but it was a lot!

Yep, I think you might be spot on there, mate. There's going to be a helluva bigger crowd than 31,000, too! Just so long as the Ponsford is full. Roll up, folks, the Army is on the march!

Amazing what a difference 2 players can make to a forward line and flow on to the whole team - I'm referring of course to Egan who bounces around like a springbok and is playing with real confidence and brilliance in amazingly his 2nd game, and C3 who already looks a dangerous and creative CHF after just a few games, which for a big KPP is amazing these days. I think even Goodes took a season or 2 to become a good AFL player. Admittedly the Toast defense played fairly average but still, these 2 look like becoming absolute stars! Could be the good side of getting so many injuries as otherwise they probably would have gotten the Willis all season. I am now very grateful to Brown for refusing our Mill/year offer which would have been a cap disaster, C Cloke is going to be a lot better than him. Brisbane looked very ordinary on the weekend, and apart from a couple of good marks so did Brown without his former commanding support staff.
Buckley's smile after Didak put us in front half way through the last was ripper, I think he was pretty confident at that point.
Looking forward with interest to many other young recruits being tried this season, eg both shaws and Rusling and Yakka again, since I suppose quite a few players unfortunately will have to be moved on at season's end. CAn't read too much into one game I supose, but future starting to look really bright again.

We are in the exact same position as we were last year with 2 wins and 7 losses. After round 9 we had our second win against Adelaid. After round 8 we were 1 and 7 and on the bottom of the ladder.

Except this year we have more injuries to key personnel - this time to A. Rocca and we have beaten the top undefeated side and Carlton. We have hopefully sorted Buckley's chronic hamstring. Our 2004 1st years, Maxy and Rowe are doing well, our backline has 3 potential AAs in there, and our 2005 inductees are coming along.

The competition is a lot closer.

This could end up better than last year if we get some momentum and get some luck later in the season. Remember that last year we were still a finals chance after the freo match, but in the second half were without rocca, tarrant, wakelin, presti, didak, richards for extended periods.

This week will be a cracker with Hawthorn. They are great young side who like the physical stuff. This is great test for both sides. Hopefully it will be a good physical spectacle and we will come out on top.

on egan, he looks like the biggest dancer with those long legs, he looks as if he is floating around the ground. He is going to be very hard to catch and he just looks as if he can spring out of nowhere. Seems he will be more consistent than leon because of his extra height and build. He is so graceful in the way he runs. Lets just hope he has a good brain, he has already shown he is arrogant with the finger to the eagles crowd. We wouldnt want him to loose the arrogance but we wouldnt want him been jeff farmer either

Can't afford to rush Rocca back. It would be foolish. Keep the guy in cotton wool until next year (or we are a genuine shot at the eight this year, as unlikely as it appears). Ditto Bucks. I agree with you Dave, his arrogance is an important aspect in his makeup.

You bloody beauty. I haven't had a chance to read the whole thread yet - will do so tomorrow - but it starts to raise the issues if we will get the top picks, and whether we think winning more than 5 will be worth is at the end of the year.

Having said that, great win, really great win. The kids did very well. I want to watch the replay before I make many more comments.

Good to see that Carra went well, and that Egan played well again, along with C3. The positive thing is that the kids are performing every week atm.

Fantastic result! Living in Perth it has been so good to listen to the West Coast "Whingers" making all sorts of excuses......including the umpire bounces! To be honest, I thought the umpiring was fairly good during the game, and neither team had any reason to complain.

A great team effort and if they can maintain that intensity and attitude, the boys will mix it with the best.

Also a great coaching performance from Mick and his group.

I'm a bit concerned about the finger, red boots and hairstyles. These young guys look to be the goods but its a bit early to be showponying. Wish they'de concentrate on playing good and consistent footy before the attitude.

I love attitude and it is part of collingwoods tradition in its players and supporters, but it seems a bit early yet to be following in the footsteps of Capper, Brereton and alike.

I wouldn't call waving a finger after kicking a goal as showponying. It's just a celebration, and what does a players haircut have to so anything? How you can make that conclusion, I'm not sure.

The boots should only be worn by those who deserve to wear them though.

Why dont you check out page 8 of this thread. There is a big difference between waving a finger (ala Leon) to a bird.
Love it all don't get me wrong. I always thought they got the finger wrong in those large blow up hands, and I was doing the same to my inlaws in the lounge.
A little premature and cocky though.
