Apart from a couple of lapses that was the best intensity we have played with since our preliminary final against Port. 52 tackles and a spirit that has been missing for 18 months. Obviously what's required to win. Travis Cloke and Egan the highlights. Rhyce, Maxwell, Rowe, Fanning and Cameron Cloke (before he injured his arm) keep improving. Presto playing the best footy of his career. Jimmy-outstanding again. Lica, Johno, Burnsy, Holland were brilliant in the midfield. But the biggest highlight was Travis. Looking forward to seeing Rusling and Davidson in the next few weeks. Special mention to Cara-a good pickup hey?

Agree Eunos. Do we have Daics down there in an official capacity?

I've just been looking over the stats on the afl.com.au website, and it states (among other things) that Shane O'Bree is 5th on the list of tackles (with 40). That's 12 more than our next player on that list, Paul Licuria at 28. Followed by Tarks at #39 with 23 tackles, and Clement at 71 with 20.

From: http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=stats& ... pe=TACKLES

Another thing I noticed was that we played the team whose ruckman is currently leading the Hitouts list, Dean Cox, and our next opponent, Hawkthorn, their ruckman is second on the list.

http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=stats& ... pe=HITOUTS

We don't have anyone on the list until number 21, which is Cameron Cloke with 74.

Essendon meanwhile have no one there til #23, Jason Laycock with 71 hitouts.

Yep, stats isn't everything, but it is interesting.

Yes O'Bree is high on the tackle count but he has a tackling style that annoys the hell out of me, I could not put my finger on it at first but watching him a few weeks back it clicked.

All of his tackles come from tackling opponents on the ground where he basically locks them up giving them no chance to get it out and giving himself no chance of getting a holding the ball.
He doesnt physically hurt them in the tackle which I like to see and pretty much causes a stoppage every time which unfortunately with our midfield being down for most of the year and swapping and changing ruckmen the stoppages have not been good for us so more often than not O'Bree's tackle will simply allow the other team to clear the ball easier than they may have under a more attacking tackle.
No doubt O'Bree will play next week after a decent effort today so watch how he goes about it.

O'Bree was a star today. Give the guy a break. Your constant critisizm completely destroys any credibility to anything else you have to say. If you had half a fair footy brain you'de recognise that he did unusually great today. Why don't you just hurl O'Bree abuse around in the chicks forum and let everybody else celebrate on a great victory strongly contributed by this player.

Agreed - Cheesey was really good today.

Still the odd fumble here and there, but on the whole I'm not complaining.

SHAWRY!! clap clap clap SHAWRY!! clap clap clap

That was the chant in the area I was sitting. He was great and has been all year, shoe in for the Copeland.

What a great game!, Sensational to go to Lexus after a win, everyone was pumped. Bring on the Hawks!!

Two other highlights from yesterday.

The reappearance of Joffa and the Game Over gold jacket and secondly, the side coming over to the Ponsford Stand and applauding the supporters after the game.

O'Bree was back to his best today, and Lockyer also was good. Promising signs - they all lifted - a real, 22 man, team effort.

What a fantastic win against the Weagles.

Everybody outside of Collingwood is raving on about the young players.

Play the Kids!!!!
This is what most of us on Nick's have been saying since for a while.

Young players bring you un-predictability, passion, excitment, flair and hope, which is why yesterdays win is even more enjoyable.

This was definately the best game since 2003, with the majority of senior players playing nearer to their 2002-03 form than 2004-05.

Hopefully this instilles belief and confidence in a team transformed by young and fresh faces.

GO PIES!!!!!!

P.S Now for Rusling :P
