O'Bree played good today, i'd be happy if he did that every game. I don't think it matters what he does people will still bag him.

Obree did ok, mind u he turned the ball over in the last qtr that gave the Eagles a goal, he made up for it when a Pies player (not sure who it was) fumbled the ball and zObree came in and picked it up low to the groud cleanly, which ended up in a Pies goal

Overall GREAT team effort

I am not a lockyer fan but he was good today and very hard to knock obree's game, he was in out top 5 players i reckon. Tackled and won possession and rarely turned it over, he was great.

Biggest positive for me was to see rowe stand up after a shocker last week. Egan showed a bit of class, god that guy looks like a dancer the way he struts around the ground, definately has the x-factor, hopefully he has consistency too. Also Trav played probably his best game in pies colours, it was a consistent 4 quarter effort from him and made our forward line look very potent. For a change Tarrant was performing dummy leads to drag defenders away from caracella and cloke.

Tarrant may not show alot on the stat sheet but he was brilliant. He probably set up 3 goals from contests and one beautiful handball onto licuria was just brilliant.

Holland had a good match even though his opponent was fletcher who kicked 3-2. HOwever holland was prominent the other way. Rheece swooped through.

Fanning was also pleasing to see him compete, even though he copped an absolute smacking. Cox's ruck work was a joy to watch. If we did not have such tough and clever onballers we wouldve been smacked out of the centre. Instead we broke even, considering fanning only had 7 hitouts and cloke 10 to cox's 30. Fanning also took a great pack mark today.

I think collingwood exploited west coasts biggest weakness today. That is the fact that they have no in and under players, they are all smooth free running receivers who like clean football. We were far superior in the packs, in the tackling department and our handballing in close was fantastic. Licuria was probably man of the match today. Again he was tough in the clinches and knocked up 30 effective touches. That has been his criticism in the past, that his disposal is inneffective, however today he was damaging. Johnson provided so much run, was always there for the handball receive.

Shaw did not dominate today but was a big factor towards our win. He was able to tackle, pinpoint targets and burst packs open in crucial times when things were tough in the clinches. He is really the midfielder we need desperately.

Votes for best on ground:
3. P. Licuria (lead from the front)
2. B. Caracella (5 fantastic pressure goals)
1. B Johnson (20 great kicks which hit targets on the lead. Pinpointed caracella on atleast 3 occassions)

Votes for worst on ground (hard one this)
3. B Davies ( only 2 touches, got no game time but wasnt effective when he came on. No criticism really, still young and is a prospect)
2. C. Cloke ( yes very tough call i know considering he fought gallantly in the ruck with 10 hitouts. However, purely on stats, 7 possessions for 1 goal which came off a 50 was not overly damaging. If he provided another forward option, we wouldve won by 40. Was benched for a lot of the match)
1. Nick Maxwell ( even tougher call, but again the only way i could decide was based on stats and Maxwell only notched up 5. Yes wakelin and presti got less but they had direct opponents whereas maxwell was floating a bit. Took some good marks, was not dissapointing however was rarely sighted. Really he only gets on this list because everyone else was so good. Please dont jump on me, this was a hard vote to give).

Again our backline was beyond belief. Clement lead from the front and contributed with 16 quality touches and held his opponent staker to not one touch. Staker was benched and clement was able to move to a few other opponents who he held well. Wakelin and presti were un penetratable and most goals came from midfielders. Gardiner got 3 but got 2 early and was rarely sighted there after. Presti did a great job. And how good was presti's run down on Sampi.

I have already heard, if judd played you wouldve lost. THis i replied, "and if we had buckley, fraser, richards, rocca, davis and Tarrant at full fitness, we wouldve won by 100")

I thought Fanning was better than C.Cloke in the ruck.

He did not get as many hit outs, however he did a far better job of nullifying Cox.

He got a lot closer to Cox's hands forcing Cox to tap under pressure and with less precision.

Cam either won the hitout or did not compete in the contest.

Fanning was also better at ground level.

agreed lethal burns, i didnt think cam did anything mindblowing today, needed to make more contests and was benched a lot. However it was far from cam's worst game. Cox is the best ruckman going around. Cam does not bash through packs like we need, but he will probably get there

i don't care how the game went or who played badly (i still think giving cameron cloke votes in the worst was harsh). The fact is they pressured. If collingwood had lost,i would have still been happy and proud of them but they won, lets just be happy that we beat the top of the ladder team and it was a good game to watch.Well i thought it was good.

Well done players.

your right molloy magic, i just have been doing the best and worst votes since round 1. There was just no one to chose really. Everyone gave a solid effort, and even if we did get belted in the ruck, it couldve been worst and the duo of cloke and fanning reallly kept us in it(as did mark fraser's ball ups which did not allow the ruckman to compete). If the votes were for the overall worst of ground from both teams, no collingwood players would feature possibly apart from davies who did not get any game time. Great effort and there is nothing really to bitch about over todays effort. Truly the last two weeks, the boys have delivered what we have been asking, a solid effort. We are far from the worst team in the comp. Carlton are that. Even Saints are not flash.

So much for Malthouse having lost the players. If there was one team they would surely tank against to piss him off - it would be the Eagles.

I hope that puts that nasty little fabricated rumour to bed once and for all.

Yes i did start that thread, and there was plenty of evidence to suggest it was true. I still don't know how we got the 4 points today (i haven't seen any of it).

ah well, maybe we thought we'd secure ourselves at the bottom before making a show. Even though we have won, we still sit at the bottom. Now that we are in touch with carlton and co, we may drop off. One performance is not great. However our 2 wins this year have been so pleasing.
