I dont know whether to laugh or cry. Maybe we wont be getting first pick after all.

Pretty piss poor effort by MM though. No Buckley, No Rocca, no Fraser, no Davis, no Richards and only beat the top, undefeated, side by 23 points. Off with his head now!!!

9 out of the last 30 is still not that impressive Doc but if we can repeat what we did today anything is possible.

In Pies_Chat, I questioned which team would show up for the last quarter. I'll be the first to admit that it was great to see us play the full four quarters, unlike previous weeks that has seen us go home after 3/4 time.

Huge effort by the boys, and I'm looking forward to see the replay this week.

Matty, this one was for you.

I said exactly the same thing at 3/4 time Dale. Great to see the boys stand up when it counted. Go Pies!

And didn't Pies_Chat reply that we played in Melbourne last week, not Perth?

We lost our legs last week. If we had not traveled then we would have thumped the Tiges the same as we did the Toast today.

For those that did not get to see game here is an overview of the game;

Game started in fine conditions with Pies looking flat and somewhat slow. Before Pies knew it WCE had kicked 3 goals and Pies had not had a possession on fwd 50. For the next 10 mins the Pies took control with Holland, Johnson Caracella, Cam Cloke, Presti, Clement and Maxwell turning the game. Maxwell v impressive curtailing Sampi to no touches in the first qtr. Lockyer also good insomuch as Matera does not go near the footy. Presti's tackle on Sampi was enormous and probably turned the game Pies way kicking 3 goals. Two late goals to WCE give them 12 point advantage at Q1. Worryingly Cam Cloke had his left arm injured and was clearly curtailed.

Pies came out firing with the intensity lifting. Pies chasing, tackling was fantastic and not seen since 02 and 03 although there was little scoreboard pressure. Lica and Burns were getting touches but still were spraying it whilst Obree was benched for similar mistakes. Tazz who had looked quiet suddenly imposed himself on the game in three strong contests and the Pies were away. Goals to WCE via frees against Fanning and Clement were hurting. Then out of nowhere Trav Cloke, Didak and Rowe inspired a surge with good deft touches and nice finishing. Fanning was winning the centre clearance rate for Pies 8 to 6. This enabled Holland, Burns and Johnson to run amok. Swan typified Pies play with hard tackling whilst Clement, Presti and Wakelin were controlling the dangerous talls for WCE. Caracella, Tarrant, Didak and Trav Cloke were going well up front.

For the half the best were - Cara, Holland, Burns, Clement, Maxwell, Lockyer, Trav Cloke. Cam Cloke and Fanning honourable.

After the half time break Pies missed early shots and WCE absorbed the pressure and then turned the Pies over. Kerr, Cousins and Fletcher shared 29 poss for qtr whilst their counterparts in Burns, Lica and Holland had 9. Johnson also quiet as WCE mids ran our blokes into ground. Fletcher kicked 2, Steinglein, Kerr and Banfield also contributed to a 6.1 qtr for WCE whilst Pies kciked 2.4. All was not lost though as clearly the WCE had thrown everything in the third qtr and were still not a long way infront. Pies had gone into fwd 50 as many times but were struggling with conversion. Importantly Tarrant, Didak, Egan, Trav Cloke were still presenting.

Last qtr the Pies came out firing again albeit missed some opportunities. Wce consolidated and got 3 goals up. ENTER THE KIDS - Egan, Trav, Rowe, Shaw just ran and ran. Lica, Burns, Shaw, Johnson pushed harder thru the mids and the fwds led by Cara started to convert. Obree was getting a lot of footy but was terrible. Chose wrong options, kicked poorly and evan got in Egans way at a crucial moment. But the Pies would not be stopped. By the 10 min mark of the last one felt the Pies were running all over the WCE and just needed to put it on the board. Didak was superb in getting under opponents skin and Tazz and TC were meeting the contest. Egan was the flair and showed the Pies chose wisely.

Pies closed out the qtr comfortably winning by nearly 4 goals.

Best: Holland, Johnson, Cara, Burns, Presti, Wakelin, Clement, Trav Cloke, Tarant, Lockyer, Didak.

Note - Lica would have been there but field kicking was poor.

What one it for us - pressure and hard running thru mids. Kids were v good.

Eunos, so, what's the excuse for the game against the Bullies, and for that matter, the Cows? The Roos? The Bumblers?

We were in with a chance in each of these games, but thx to our lacklustre fourth quarter, we got blown away.

Seems strange that none of these games were played the week after we travelled.

Dale, we are getting better by virtue of the blooding of the youngsters.I certainly was not looking for an excuse, the fact that you called us as gone on our past record speaks volumes for your opinion of us.
Not mine.

Enough anyway.
I intend to enjoy this week.

I think your being harsh on O'Bree. Did bloody great today and deserves credit. If he could always play like that we would be a much better team.

Hugor, look it was a fantastic win so lets not focus on the negative but Obree was terrible.

If you watch the replay I suspect you will find he got a lot of it but his decision making was poor, his disposal was at times terrible. For example, two crucial turnovers in the first, missed a terrible pass at start of third into the fwd 50, Matera's goal in the last was a result of his turnover in the middle, he got in Egans way late in the last in the goal square which resulted in a lost goal, he played on when 20 metres from goal and put Cara under enormous pressure in the last, he overran the footy in the second which led to a turnover and then a goal. If I recollect you will find he was also on Kerr in the thrid for a period - when Kerr got 11 touches.

I think he was average and should make way for Yakka or a Cole or Davis who should be given his spot in the middle.

Fantastic effort....you should here the way the commentators and talkback are going on about Cloke, they are all very excited, as am i

Real team effort, boy do I love Licuria's heart, Rhyce's persistence, Burn's tenacity ect.....

Tarrant showed passion once again, is he the only full forward who tackles\chases???

Caracella is a fantastic pickup for zilch!

Holland returned to form and Egan is very exciting- what pace!

Big happy face for me, will go have a few drinks now.....

PS. Heard a bit of the aftermatch and MM said that Rusling was within a whisker of playing this wee, said that both him and Bucci will be coming in within the next couple of weeks and probably Hall, has been impressed by all of them....maybe we dont need Priority Picks after all
