BTW - Is anyone else confused about the 'Dropping the ball' rule,... if that's what it's still called??

I might go and look for a definitive explanation of that rule, cause i'm sure that Clement tackled Brown (i think in the last quarter near the 50m boundary line) and he DROPPED the ball without correct disposal!

Haven't seen a replay and was on the other side of the ground but it looked clear to me!!!

Definitely dropped - perfect tackle one arm pinned no hope to dispose of the ball and prior opportunity given he was running ...

Then the too high call on Clemo with the shorter Brown falling forward behind Clemo who brought his arm over him - because he was falling !! - and that's a too high call --- peeerrrrlease !!

Other than these and a couple of others I thought the umpiring was reasonable given the intensity of the stoppages - they let it go ...
Let all your troubles be forgot for we are Collingwood. We'll fight it out until the end we're Collingwood. So help me Jock.
Two pies and two beers thanks!!

The umpire stuff up again on that one. It was clear as day to everyone except the umpires.

There is no such rule as "dropping the ball".
It is "incorrectly disposing of the ball".

It happened right in front of me - he definitely dropped the ball.

That free to Brown in the goal square was bullshit. Jimmy stood his ground and Brown the shortarse ran into him.

Now they are all raving about Brown's 5 goals.
Yeah, Brown was good but one of his goals was given to him.

The best theing about richmond winning is to watch their supporters hearts break when they crash. It will happen, it's just a matter of time. They struggled to beat Williamstown yesterday it's that simple.

A friend of mine says that if the ball is dislodged during the tackle, then its play on - What does that mean??
To me, dislodged = Incorrect disposal!!... (Whistle!!).. FREE KICK!

Unless the ball is actually stripped out of someone's hands, they kick or handball it or there is no prior opportunity,.....GONE!

They get this one wrong VERY often IMHO.
Apparently, the commentary on channel 9 didn't even mention it??

good to see us put in a good effort for three quarters. The last quarter was just about bad enough to make that irrelevant though.

No such rule as "dropping the ball". When tackled you must dispose of the ball correctly or it is holding the ball. Obviously, if you throw it, it is throwing the ball. If the ball is knocked loose in the takle, it is play on UNLESS you had prior opportuniuty. The Brown one was iffy ... if he was deemed to have prior opportunity, it should have been holding the ball as he did not dispose of it correctly. If he didnt have prior opportunity, it is play on as he was knocked off the ball while trying to kick it (or ball was knocked loose in the tackle).

Dr. Alf - you can't be serious if you think that is the worst performance you have ever seen from a Collingwood team!!

We were right in the game until half-way through the final term, with a side missing four of our top 5 critical players (Plus others)!!

Come on!! I know you can be upset we lost - but that post was just a wee bit ridiculous!!!

I was referring to the last quarter fade-out.

Sure, I've seen worse performances over a whole game ... but that last 15 minutes or so was a total disgrace.

OK - see now that makes much more sense!! :) :)

Still, I think they were simply all buggered from their effort in the first 3 quarters!

(And believe me, that last quarter was still better than ANY of the quarters from last week!!!!) :)

At least I could watch the Bitchmond game & there was a bit of joy for the 1st three quarters .
I taped the Freo game & forced myself to watch it --- to see if there were any positives ( there weren't ) & I've never enjoyed watching a footy game less .
I figured that if the players & coaching staff had to be there , then the least I could do was watch - but it wasn't easy .

On a par with the fadeout in round 1 vs the doggies (but possibly more forgiveable due to the lack of experienced players yesterday compared to Round 1)
