I think the walker on pavlich move may go ahead, cant see walker fitting into our forward line because it just becomes overtall with Cam, Frase, Tarrant and Trav. So that leads me to believing Walker in for either j Cloke or Clement and Presti will be late withdrawals.
Fremantle, although have been fantastic lately have a terrible defence. Look at their win against melbourne. They conceeded 20 goals. The problem is they kicked 22.
Melbourne allowed a defender in Mcpharlin to kick 5, however when melbourne woke up and put rivers onto him, Mcpharlin was only able to kick 1 more goal and the fact he was out of defence led melbourne forwards to have a field day. Neitz and Holland kicked 5 each. Further, Rivers isnt the best backman ive seen. He is good at picking up the 3rd tall, peeling off him and taking gutsy marks when he is by himself. He is not a great shut down player. However he was absolutely able to stop Mcpharlin. If Clement and Presti are in, freo may really struggle to kick goals.
What we need is Clement on Medhurst, Clement will belt him if fit.
Cole on Farmer, Cole has to get physical on the barstard
Wakelin on Pavlich, or Walker would be a good match, even maxwell.
THe point im trying to make is that Fremantle will have more difficulty kicking goals against our defence than melbournes. This is a positve as we should find kicking goals easier than kicking goals against st.kilda.
The problem is however the midfield. The Carr boys, Hazleby, Bell, Headland, Walker, Black, Schammer. God they are good. However they are not really in and under players, apart from Carr. The way to beat them is to play really really tight and choke them, as we used to do against pt. adelaide. Port also lacked in and under players and relied of free run. Then if freo are going to rely on a farmer or medhurst to kick goals against our defence, they have another thing coming.
Licuria on Hazleby should be a good matchup
Burns on Carr
Shaw v Black
Johnson v m carr
Holland v Bell (however id like to see holland go forward as he once kicked 8 goals against freo)
Yes our midfield is negative, however this is one game we must really tag hard. If we keep the game messy, freo will not like it. Further if it rains, we should kill them.
Up our end, Trav, Tarrant, Fraser and Cam CLoke should be able to take marks. It is no suprise they have brought sandilands in, however he does nothing around the ground. Longmuir is the worry. He is a mobile goal kicking ruckman and in my opinion is the most improtant player in the team after pavlich. I actually think Walker should play on Longmuir. This would be a very good matchup for us because Longmuir was injured last week and may be restricted. Walker should also be able to ruck against him around the ground if needed.
This game is not easy and i highly doubt with our form we will win. However we were able to shut down the st.kilda midfield for a half until we were severly struck by injuries. I think St.kildas midfield is a class above freo's. And the thing about freo is that if they are loosing, everything falls to pieces. Pavlich doesnt touch it and the baclkine is non existant.
Time to play good tight and accountable football. If we are not accountable, they will run right over the top of us by 100 points. Melbourne lacked intensity, they said it themselves. If we keep the intensity on, they will panic everytime. Melbourne dont have a tight midfield either, they are free running. They were however out paced by the very good freo midfield. This is a game we can win, however unlikely it may seem. Mick will have to keep the bench rotating.
Fast players like Shaw, Johnson, Iaccabucci and Rowe become very improtant then. If Licuria, Burns, Woey, Holland and co do their job on the freo midfielders and restrict them, then our pace can hurt them the other way.
Go pies, a win here will stop the knockers. Hope clement is ok. Presti is improtant but probably doesnt have a really good opponent for him this week. Would still love him in but.
Freo by 15 after a tight struggle for 3 quarters.

Fremantle by 6
I reckon we'll take it to them, maybe surprise them, but they'll come back and win a close one
maybe the umpires will give them some help too, seeing as its played at Subiaco

Just spoke to a mate of mine who went to see the Pies train today.
He told me that C2 & Walker both trained. I didn't ask about Clement but if he wasn't training my mate Harry would have said so.
He said that B.Davies was introduced to the seniors in the middle of the ground, so It looks like he is in.
Johno didn't train, Presti just did handball drills with Braydan Shaw, so he is likely to miss.

Hmmm, this is shaping up as another "backs to the wall" game and my gut is giving me billy-oh, as it does when I sense a possible upset against the odds. I certainly haven't tipped us in the two tipping competitions I'm in, but I've been saying all week that there existed the possibility that Freo might be a bit complacent after last week's win against Melbourne and the fact that they are playing the side on the bottom of the ladder, at home to boot, will only add to that sense of complacency. The conditions for a huge upset are in place for sure and now that a couple of key players have dropped out of the game on top of all that's gone before may well be lulling Freo into an even deeper complacency. I'm tempted to say we're going to win this one. In fact, I'm going to call exactly that. Wishful thinking? Maybe, but this gut feel of mine has been right too many times before for me to ignore it.
Go for broke, Mick, what have we got to lose? Throw Taz to the wolves in midfield and get him to crunch a couple of their blokes. Stick Walker at FF, to rotate with Fraser and Cam in the ruck, 'cause Tex likes to crunch a few blokes, too, and give C3 his head at CHF. Play Julian Rowe on a wing, Shawy on the other wing (are you absolutely sure you won't bring Lonie back in? He'd kill 'em over on Subi's wide expanses). Bugger stressing "accountability" and make Freo do all that sh*t whilst we bang on ten goals in the first quarter. Grind 'em into the dust.
