The quality of our disposal under pressure is laughable. No one gets drag for basic mistakes at Collingwood. It's acceptable. We would struggle currently in the VFL. I had a great day though so that's something.

Saints over-run gallent Collingwood.
News
02 May 2005

After a tight opening three quarters, St.Kilda managed to run away from Collingwood in the final term, prevailing by 38 points, after some late goals in red time. The loss now sees the Magpies at the foot of the AFL ladder, and with a tough road trip to Perth to face a bouyant Fremantle next week, the job isn't getting any easier. For the Pies, the reliable Chad Morrison and Rhyce Shaw performed well, while the hard-working Simon Prestigiacomo ws excellent on the dangerous Saints full forward Fraser Gehrig. History now shows that Gehrig dominated after Prestigiacomo hobbled off with a leg injury - with no Magpies able to keep up with the strength of the 2004 Coleman Medallist.
Collingwood: 2.5, 6.6, 8.11, 10.11 (71)
St.Kilda: 1.4, 8.7, 12.9, 16.13 (109)
Goals: Didak 2, Fraser 2, Tarrant 2, Caracella, T.Cloke, C.Cloke, Burns.
Best:J.Cloke, Morrison, Prestigiacomo, Shaw, Holland.

Flew down from queensland for the game - first one in a year. Love the G, great new stand.

Presti going off was the difference, as was Dal Santo - why he had no tag was absolutely beyond me. He is awesome.

Morrison may have got 28 touched but I thought he was shite - how many hospital handpasses???

Cam Cloke again was below par - is not up to it yet. Jason good and Travis exciting.

Taz really works his arse off doesn't he - you don't see that on TV. Love his work ethic. Rhyce was terrific as well - our best player I thought. Yakka OK debut, Rowe and Maxy good.

Umpiring was shocking as well.

Our forward structure is horrible. The story of our forward line - out numbered contest - spillage. Easy loose ball get by opposition... Fast break.. Goal down other end..

Midfield. No spark whatsoever. No one who breaks the lines and runs. Shaw has helped. One is not enough. Get Lonie on a wing to help and tell the shit to run his opponent raggered. If he cant tag maybe he can play the rabbit with potency.

Sorry to say but the guys we have coming back are not going to turn us into a top team. We dont get it to our forward line enough for a start..Our impact players to return are old.

Leon plays so much time on the bench he probably has splinters in his ass so I cannot seem him improving us much.

Is it really worth trying to get anything from this year other than a full examination of our list?

By the was Holland was terribe and must be dropped. And don't start me on Richard Cole - his lack of confidence is embarressing and is doing no one favours - must be dropped.

Frase and Taz couldn't buy frees - Gehrig got a tonne of them.

Wow, it only seems like yesterday that we were all looking excitedly at the draw and quoting things like 16 wins.

I was just as confident, thinking that a fresh start and some new blood would see us climb. Yes, we've had some injuries, but today we were only really down Bux, Rocca, Davis & Richards. You could cancel Riewoldt against Rocca, and the only real difference is our champ. That shouldn't make us a 16th place team. Our list today should be capable of more.

What the hell has happened to the majority of these players who only 18 mths ago beat everyone. It's not as if they're too old.

I still believe our list is not that bad; definitely not a wooden spoon list. What the hell is wrong?

Didn't realise the impact that Presti was having on Gerhig until we lost Presti.

Was very impressed with Fraser's return. Thought he did exceptionally well for the first half, but seemed to tire quickly particularly in the last quarter, he just didn't have the legs left for it.

Iaccabucci did ok for his first taste, expect to see him play again very soon.

Can we please get rid of O'Bree this time? His clanger turnover is horrendous. He cost us a few goals.

Thought Cam Cloke looked very lazy in the 2nd quarter. Wouldn't move for the ball at all which also cost us 3 goals (yes, I was counting).

Was listening to MM's post match i/v and he seemed very calm. But he mentioned the loss of Johnson. Said it was hard when we'd lost two players out of the game.

Johnson apparently had concussion. Did anyone see what? when? how? I didn't see anything and didn't hear anything in the commentary.

You would have to be a Collingwood supporter to come play for us over the Saints.

They are on the verge of a flag. We are on the verge of reconstruction.

All of us would do it... No one else would.

There is not a whole heap you can say about todays game without nitpicking.

Mick was not prepared to shuffle the midfield. Which is fair enough. It was probably our last crack at 2005.

They looked a class above us at all times and we struggled hard to stay in it.

We dont have it to go with them.

Time for O'Bree, Lokyer & Holland all to be dropped. Absolutely pathetic the 3 of them & Cole wasnt much better.

C1 was back to his best until he had to go onto Gehrig. Good to see Josh back, a half baked Josh is much better than a fully fit Walker any day.

johnson and presti was a big loss and was probably the result of the worse 2 quarters of football collingwood has played all year. We turned an even game into a 40 point loss, it was not a good effort. Injuries took their toll understand. I forgot all about brodie holland, his worse game in a long time. 2 out on the full, one into the man on the mark, poor tackling, not a lot of touches, well beaten. In the first half, ball and hayes were quiet, in the second they went crazy. Dont let the score line fool you, we were a lot worse than what it suggests. I think Trav is the find of the year and iaccobucci was good twice in a pressure situation. Could be a little critical of rowe because his skills are sooo good yet he wastes a lot of disposals.

Agree on comments about morrisons game. 28 disposals was no where near the impact dal santo had on the game and he was the direct opponent. Morrison did not get 1 inside 50, and set up a lot of players to be tackled from silly handballs. Richie cole is another example of blind disposals or lack of disposal when he just gets on his bike and runs.

I think in the middle, rheece shaw again was the only player who seemed to play well. Dont know what happened to licuria, everyone who heard his tripple m interview would understand that he is a broken man at the moment and may be carrying an injury or has fallen out of grace with the coach. He said mick dragged him because he wasnt running hard enough, although he had kept luke ball to minimal touches and was moved off him to hayes.

Whatever that means. But did you watch the game Holland was in there for 4 quarters and as the reason we got many of the chances we did. Give him a break.

So many look for a scapegoat then yell drop him. We have a very good side regardless of injury and too many changes will be counter-productive. Today's was a very good effort against a top 4 side.
Let all your troubles be forgot for we are Collingwood. We'll fight it out until the end we're Collingwood. So help me Jock.
