Thanks Wags, you just saved me a walk to the TAB,..... & maybe some hard earned too!!
Although i do get this way on a Friday night so i'm sure i'll manage to dig up some kind of positive stat to back my one-eyed enthusiasm! :(

Mate, Collingwood is $6 to win on Sunday - not a good bet! However, you might want to try a "line" bet. This is a fixed return of $1.90 but you get points in. The line is 38.5 points, so if you think we can keep the Saints winning margin to, say, 6 goals - 36 points - (my prediction), then you'd be on a winner with that instead. Check your local TAB or PubTAB for the latest line. Cheers, and good luck.

I'd expect the bench to be:

Rowe, Maxy, Walker and Yakka

Heath will get a chance but not this week.
Josh is still much too underdone
Swanny needs more of the same at Willi to push his way in

Btw - if a line bet is giving us 38.5 points in then those odds are quite good - count me in!
Excellent.........

Have the Saints yet played at the G this year? No. They only play there a few times each season. Now THAT is a home ground advantage.

$21 for Collingwood at +39.5points
If they mean we'll kick that score for the whole game,.. that's a reasonable bet !

things we have in our favour:
Game is at the g- We may not have a flash record at the g, but saints are just pathetic there.

Micks 500th- Some form of inspiration

Saints dont flood- This may be the first game this year without a heavily flooding team. Further their defence is iffy. Saints dont hold teams to low scores, they just get bigger ones themselves. This leads me to my next point

Our backline- One of the better in the league, if it becomes a shoot out, ours is better than theirs. If Tarrant fires, we may keep up.

Hayes 50%- shin injury, not sure if he'll play but still he will not be on the field as often as he normally is, hasnt trained fully this week either.

Their midfield does not kick goals- most of them come from key forwards, hayes, dal santo and harvey are innacurate infront of goals predominantley. However luke ball is a dead eye dick.

THINGS AGAINST US:
- Maguire is in- The only way we were going to win is to expose their backs. With maguire in, they look a little more solid. He is in top form.

- Form- no doubting their form is good. However they only beat richmond and melbourne who lost cam bruce early and shook them up a bit.

-Forward line- Our backs have been good, but have not met anything quite this good. We beat fev and whitnall who are badly out of form but they are nothing compared to Hammil, Gherig, Kosi, Fisher, Milne, Guerra and co. Big test this week and explains the inclusion of j.cloke.

Midfield- Theirs is better and more experienced now with woewoedin out.

Rucks- If Fraser doesnt play, ackland and kosi will go crazy against cloke and walker. If Fraser plays, we are about even.

Their brownlow medallist is playing, our 2 arent.

They are only missing riewoldt and powell from the side now, however powell is uninjured. Penny is nearly back but isnt a make or break to the side really. They are missing riewoldt true, but we are down rocca, their backups are much better. Especially if Fraser is out.

Ultimately, they are better, however we have some advantages and must exploit them.
There's more to life than footy.........just not much more.

DaVe86 - I remember a game at Docklands V the saints where they fooded very heavily against us - Might've been 02??,... I think Bucks got reported that game in the middle of the ground??,.. does that ring a bell with anyone else ??

Lets hope Maguire does come up after last weeks knock!

Who is on our emergencies list ???,.... Richards? Will we really go in against Kosi & Ackl with Cam & Walker ?? (I'm assuming Fraser will not play)

I do remember that Lone Star. That particular game, they were actually decimated by injuries and knew that they had no hope of beating us. I remember that we had some major problems breaking the flood until Lonie bombed a running goal from about 55m. After that the flood gates opened and we beat them by a huge margin. The score in the end was 16-15-111 to 3-10-28.

Lonestar, it was 2002. A terrible match for Saints fans, but I certainly loved that one! Davis 4 goals.
