Bitter and twisted. That is the feeling at this point. Not because we lost, but the way we lost. I watched the game on Tv and whilst I'll admit it is difficult to get the complete picture of what is happening on the ground, I am actually thankful that this was the case because I think I would be in a state of total devastation if I had witnessed it live. I feel for all of my supporting brother and sisterhood who were at the game. One of the more shameful displays from a Magpie Anzac team to date.
Given yesterdays pitiful effort, I cannot see how the club can argue against the AFL's desire to perhaps share the fixture around in years to come.
Unlike some of my posting colleagues on Nick's, I have resisted the temptation to criticise MM's selection decisions. I am not about to start here either, but I can empathise with those that have done. It is becoming increasingly difficult to understand some selection and game day decisions. None of us are experts in this area, but we can see what we can see. "If it aint broke, don't fix it" There are a couple of lads running around at the moment that are broken and they surely must be out of warranty.
I would have preferred to see Lonie play yesterday in place of Williams or O'Bree.
I have a feeling that MM will swing the axe with gusto this coming week and the likes of Yakka and Rusling will indeed get an opportunity. Dids will be better for the run. C3 will build on his confident debut. Training this week should include a visit for the entire squad to the room of mirrors.
Disappointed but not broken, that's what it is to be a Collingwood supporter.

Essendon did there best to lose it, it should have been over at qtr time if they had kicked straight. At least it kept the game interesting.
We are still 1 game out of the 8.
Why do we play so wide but when we go down the corridor we look so much better. For next weeks game can we do all our foward movement down the middle I dont care if we lose the match at least we will give our fowards a better chance.
Why kick it to tarrant when 3 blokes are on him attention walker, cam cloke you must be free some where on the ground make yourself available.
Walker I am not sure on how many games you have played it is time to show something.
Mick please come out and tell us what the plans are for the next 3-4 games.

That was nothing short of embarrassing!! We not only made the Dons look good, but the final margin was flattering thanks to their inaccuracy in front of goals,........ MANY THANKS!!!
After getting my hopes up in the last fortnight they go and play like that on ANZAC day!
It's getting very hard to be optimistic for 2005!

16 rounds to go to our misery for 2005 is over. Not good enough at the moment. Key players injured do not help either. Just like old times, whipping boys of the competition. It's the softest Collingwood team I have watched since 1970. Well I paid my membership and will be there next week to support them. It is like old times, go and enjoy the company around me, if we happen to win a game then that's a bonus.
No optimism from me, it's all reality.

What a crock of absolute dog shit you "Supporters" are talking about. FFS we've got half our starting side out, shall I name them again, Fraser Richards Rocca Buckley Davis Lonie , Didak back for his first run, I suppose He was to turn the game first up
I've spoken of williams but MM said on White line fever last night he's going OK.Go figure 2 weks ago Shaw was supposedly as bad as williams yet now he's our No 1 avenue out of defence and was sadly missed when he went off and we could possibly have snatched the game had he stayed on. Woey got plenty of the ball but had a shocking day disposal wise. Team confidence is down and with our super star fullforward missing ANOTHER 2 sitters early, which could have set us on course to victory, he cost us last week remember, the flow of the game went the other way.
Lots of positives. C2 C3 Maxy Rowe.
I say , if you think we're shi'te piss of some where else and if ya don't like what I say, do what you seem to do best when things don't go right and use the ignore button and your problems will all go away.

Generally agree with most of the ratings from the game, but being there would like to comment on a few....
Didak I'd give 4/10. One of the few who showed any class at all which we badly lack
Caracella 3/10. Very ineffective target
Cole 2/10. Very disappointed with. Was killed by Lovett and made glaring errors in defense. Blind handball overhead into corridor. Taking wrong options. Waiting for ball.....
Shaw 8.5/10. Think his efforts deserve more than a 7.5
Maxwell 7/10. VERY impressed with. Killed Lucas who has been in real form and admired his desperation on a number of occasions. Seems very composed
C3 7/10. Most impressive debut of any young player for a long time. Presented, was one grab, played on quick and CENTRED ball. We should not overburden him though.
C2 4/10. With Walker they did win their share of hitouts and did present but were both beaton by Laycock

I've recently become aware of this bulletin board, and have been checking out the comments here over the past couple of weeks. It's a great site and gives us Pie-devotees an opportunity to air our opinions, so well done. The boys performance yesterday got me so riled up that I had to register this morning and post a comment or two of my own.
I can't bring mnyself to condemn them, because I love the club so much, and have been a passionate supporter for 25 or so years now. But I just wonder when the club adminsitrators, officials and players are going to get fed up with delivering mediocre season after mediocre season? It's like we made relatively unexpectedly to 2 straight GF's, and now the boys think the jobs done and can site back. NEWS FLASH: WE DIDN'T WIN EITHER ONE! We are one of the richest clubs and the envy of most others as far as our facilities go, but the fact that year in, year out the team doesn't deliver is driving me crazy! Most of the guys just showed no spirit or passion for the club whatsoever. Maybe the all should get a run with Williamstown on the w/end, and we'll just forfeit the game to the Saints because it's less embarrassing that what the final score could potentially be. The skill level in the 1st qtr was what I'd expect to get dished up by the 2nd grade Mayne side up here in the SQAFL - they get flogged week in, week out by 100+.
Maybe that's the problem, the players and coaches are so chuffed with the new facilities at Lexus, that they think they have it made already with the massages and heated pools etc, so why bust your gut each w/end? A plan may be to rent out the Lexus Centre to those teams giving it their all for the clubs i.e. Sainters, Kangas or even the Doggies, and send our guys out to Whitten Oval for a couple of weeks to see how the other half live.
Maybe I'm just ranting, but I am getting sick and tired of facing up each week to work where I sit one door down from a bloody Demons supporter, and two doors down from even worse, a bombers fan. C/mon pies, give me something to work with here!

Everyone knows that we have injuries, but that is no excuse for an insipid and uninspiring loss. Against the Kangas where we had those exact same players out, most of us were still proud and positive because at least they played with passion and intensity. There was no such passion or intensity yesterday. That is why most of us are disappointed. As someone said earlier, losing is hard enough to deal with but losing when you dont even seem interested isnt acceptable.mudlark wrote:What a crock of absolute dog shit you "Supporters" are talking about. In regards to ignoring you, i dont see why anyone would do that. You have a right to your opinion as does everyone else. What others think isnt absolute "dog shit" since most are just offering constructive criticism. We are all passionate about the club. I just want them to have a red hot go at least, they cant blame injuries for that. MM gave them an absolute blast at 3/4 time not because of our injuries, but because it was a piss-weak effort
