presti will get lloyd. do you really want the prestinator wandering around at chf with lucas? no, i didn't think so. wakelin will get lucas if lucas plays forward, which he may not do initially, as wakes can play anywhere in the back half. presti draws power from the square.
Get back on top.

The obvious statement, A game we can't afford to lose. Hardly ever negative but, if we lose this one I feel it's going to be a very long season.

Hopefully Dids will be effective (if he plays) and provide us with another avenue to goal. Would love to see Rowe play 100min and come away with the Anzac Medallion. Our young guys need to play well above themselves on Monday, this is a very big game and a win will give them an incredible amount of self belief to perform on the big stage.
Go Pies!

The Age seems to have no idea on what's going on - 13 tipsters have gone with the Dons over us (4). Crazy!

yeah I noticed all the so called "experts" have tipped the bombers. I would like to know what they base that on.

I believe we have been playing good footy and should give them a pasting. In reality it will probably be a lot closer but I expect our boys to continue to play the free flowing brand of footy of the last couple of weeks and win by around 20 points.

We will pump Collingwood this week. We will give them an absolute hiding.

- form doesnt matter for this game
- They have no FIGJAM
- Rocca is gawn
- They dont have the avenues to goal
- Their midfield is actually weaker than ours
- We have to win
- We have too many forward options for their backline
- Their ruck is weaker than ours

I am tipping us by 6 goals.

and:

Quote:
I agree, we are they are favourites on the tab. I think we will beat them comfortably. Well be in front by 10 goals at half time and win by 2 points. I'm getting o the Dons this week.

and (from a Carlton supporter):

Quote:
in all honesty if you cant beat them this week then you guys are in real trouble.

unless of course they kick 15.1 in the second half like they did against us, then you have an escape clause

and:

Quote:
we will thrash them
anyone who says otherwise will have to come over here and i will beat the stupid out of them

and:

Quote:
All this talk about Anzac Day like its a huge match. its Collingwood for farks sake, they are depleted, we have players coming back. We should shite it in. If we dont win by 10 goals plus then weve really done nothing.

Guys, lets not get too excited about this week, if we had've beaten Geelong, then great, but when we are playing lessor or equal sides, we are expected to win. I would be shocked if we lost this game, its an easy 4 points so don't get carried away. Same ol story as last yr, we win the easy ones and get esxcited.

Make no mistake, Mondays game will be an easy and soft victory, marred by skill errors. lets just get this week over with so we can play the Brisy's and Ports, then we have something to crow about if we beat them.

Come on...its the Pies, they are crap, we just need to show up

and:

Quote:
We will pump the pies this week and if we dont, goodbye 2005. Us winning, should bring in some confidence.

At least they are positive. Unlike some people on here. Sit up and take notice guys. When your team are down don't rubbish 'em support them. That is what it means to be a supporter. When will you guys get that through your heads.
All this may be summed up in one word - CHARACTER - and if that is not worth developing, nothing is.

That's not " positive " - it's "delusional " to think they'll win !

---- or is it me who's " delusional " - we'll know on Monday afternoon .

Thats some of the most delusional rubbish I have ever read. Proves they have no idea about football and know nothing about Collingwood. Have they even been watching any of our games?

haha, they think their midfield is better than ours and they have too many forward options for our defense and that their ruck is better. what planet are they living on.

Yes their Forward line looks ok with Lloyd and Lucas, but look at our defense, Jimmy, Presti and Wakes should be able to handle them, especially when they get no supply with our midfield in Licca, Burnsy, Woey, Brodie etc dominating.

All of the bookies have the Bummers as favorites at $1.80. We are at $2.00. Hope they're all wrong. Even with all our injuries, we've been playing much better, and with a lot more heart, than them. That said, they always fire up for ANZAC Day. If we can get on top early, I think we can run away with it. Pies by 32.

I have a habit of becoming very confident of a win when Friday rolls around,.... i HATE that but just can't help it!

I heard Bucks on the radio this morning talking about how he feels like a new man thanks to this week's trip to a health retreat. He says it's helped his recovery 'dramatically'. The captain is dying for a game and i can't wait to see him back!

Essendon & Carlton have upset us on numerous occasions and i always approach with caution - this week is no exception. HOWEVER, i get some confidence from the way we went about things last friday night whilst missing some big guns!
Did we turn the corner against the blues??,.. I think we might've!.. time will tell!

Although Clement looks nervous in the public eye, he says the right things and his 'pressure on them' press conference was a well delivered reply to the aggressive showboating of the Dons earlier in the week.

A win Monday will have me checking the odds for a Premiership this year!! I'm not a gambling man (believe it or not  ), but if we stay there abouts with a win here and there - And our injury list shrinks, as long as Rocca gets back to play a role in September,.... who knows what 2005 could bring!!!!

We play Monday but its definately here,.... FRIDAY NIGHT FEVER!! (yes, i'm shouting!).
Lets get busy!!

This is going to be a tough game. A wounded Essendon is a dangerous Essendon and I really hope the players arn't going into the game as confident as some of the posters here. Backline has to be rock solid with a close eye kept on Lovett-Murray and Cupido (they've got under our guard in the past). Tarrant must fire and our smalls (Cara, Didak et al) have to present and be dangerous.
