I am gutted, I am sick of it, Rocca was great and was injured that should not be the game if we pick a team to cover positions. How the hell and I am admitting Williams handpass to Tarrant was good can Williams continue to get a game, the shot he missed was unforgivable, I could say the same about Tarrants last shot but Tarrant will never be more than 50% to 60% accuracy.

We were better and lost, Cloke played better in the last quarter but is not a ruckman, I cannot understand why Davis and Rowe hardly got any game time.

It is going to be hard to get the boys up from this loss, did you see Buckley in the coaches box

I live in hope for the return of our injured palyers and won't to say for most of the team thanks for giving it a shot. The way it is going Shaw will get the Copeland and if he does good on him

Give me another brandy quick

Some simple truths from tonight:

1. North, for a full strength team, should have won that game comfortably, given we were missing both ruckman, CHF, best small forward and captain/midfield genius;
2. The Pies gave their all. If we can't be happy with that then don't bother supporting;
3. Missed opportunities cost us the game. But taz still kicked 4 and played well all night;
4. Rhyce Shaw is having an excellent year. He should have played as an attacking midfielder tonight without having to worry about Wells, someone else should have tagged Wells IMO. Rhyce still one of our best;
5. O'Bree is having a much better year and looks to be making a real difference now;
6. Cameron Cloke NEEDS TO KEEP PLAYING. Yes he has a lot to learn, yes he makes the wrong decision regularly, yes he is jumping too early, but FFS he is improving and I thought played well in the last quarter. Needs to think more;
7. Woewoedin was absolutely woeful and has been all year. Needs to be dropped;
8. Williams has done his dash. Period;
9. Leon is not getting enough game time, his defensive pressure in the forward line was critical in the last quarter;
10. Shane Wakelin you are a gem. Every week;
11. SURELY Tex should stay in the forward line. Is costing us goals every week down back but can kick goals, take marks and needs to learn to use his body more in the forard line crashing packs;
12. Someone tell Richie Cole to dispose of the ball a tad quicker please;
13. The Pies, even with T. Cloke, Didak and King to return in the near future at the expense of Williams, Woewoedin and Rocca, will still have a chance to make the 8, and if Fraser, Richards and Bucks can return with win/loss around even, we are in with a show.

The improvement is clear and good times are ahead. Keep the faith, we aren't very good at that anymore (me included).

One last thing.

For the life of me I don't understand how Williams is in the team.

I am being dead serious here - he would struggle in some year 12 football teams.

He is medium height, has no pace, has little finesse, cannot take a good mark. He is holding up a position.

Bring back Lonie and play him in the forward line. Fantastic kick, has enough pace to get the lead on an opponent, strong overhead.

He does not deserve it based on his form.... However at least we know he has the ability. Why drop a kid instead of letting him play somewhere else?

Do we learn the lesson not to play an injured player? All week there were rumous that Rocca was not right .... and I'm in Brisbane !

So now we 1-3, and Rocca is out for another 3? 4? 6? weeks.

Gutted.

Unlucky loss, albeit too familiar. Probably won it everywhere bar the scoreboard.

Can't believe I'd say this, but I thought O'bree did OK.Thought Davis and Rowe could have been used more.Not sure what MM is doing with Walker.Play him at CHF and leave him there for a game so he gets some confidence.

J26 after WCE we play Hawthorn. I believe we should be aiming to be 5-5 after round 10.Despite the ordinary first 2 games we haven't been punished percentage wise.Remember we play these teams again with hopefully a much stronger team later in the year.If we keep improving and can stay in touch we are still some chance.

Just a tad embarassing to say the least!

Cam looks and plays at the moment like he has no confidence in his shoulder - our choices are very limited with the guys already missing before tonight and then add Rocca
I suppose Cam did ok. Tried his heart out in a difficult situation. No his fault he has no real back up. Fanning may have to return next week, or even Travis Cloke.

Burnsy, brillaint again. Just keeps going when he is out of petrol. He and Licca keep this engine running.

Tonight's effort confirms how little depth we have in our list. a product of arrogant and poor recruiting for too long. It would be foolish to blame Chris Tarrant for missing a goal in the last quarter. It should never have got to that anyway.

What is plainly clear from tonight's effort is the Clokes struggle to play any intelligent football at all. All big bodies, little skill, and poor potential. We don't need three. One maybe.

Some like Williams, Davis, Woewodin, Maxwell, Lockyer, Burns (maybe), Rowe, and Holland should be traded at the end of the year. I have watched these blokes make too many mistakes, half hearted efforts, ineffective tackles, dropped marks, missed goals, all too regularly.

Our coaching panel will see this poor season continue under their stewardship whilst our once great club built on 100 plus years of tradition, now enters a shallow corporate driven era where we have little to motivate the players with, other than the possibility of more money and pathetic media exposure.

The true failure of our coaching panel is to persist with below average players for too long in the hope they will one day make it in the big league. Now look.

What excuses now Mick?

The clock is surely ticking! Time for a cleanout before we leave a new coach no time to save next season.
I love this club and I hold anyone in contempt who does not think it is worth fighting for.

Hiss how you could include Davis Holland, Burns Rowe Woey and Maxwell as being poor disposal etc etc is beyond me. They are amongst our best,

If what you say is your criterion the add to Williams, O'bree despite a good game tonight,

At the tend of the day we have 2 palyers who are glaringly not up to stratch

Injuries. End of story. Plus some dubious coaching and playing of favourites and others not getting a chance or enough game time.

Umpiring was also once again shitful. Licca was scragged and held all night. Probably 30 holding the mans against us that weren't paid. And gee I hate that Picyournose from Hawthorn, piece of shit. Held Liccas jumper all bloody night.

Was frustrating seeing Rock and Taz 3-teamed most of the night and Archer/Sinclair allowed to run riot across half back.

Our improvement is considerable and MM needs to pull his finger out and get the win/loss to around 50% by mid season. Then we are a real chance.

Just got home from work and I'm gutted. Not so much the loss, it seems we were competetive if not better on the night. But Rocca...NOOOOOO.I hope that wasnt an injury he carried into the game, as per rumour, that would piss me off no end. He sounded like he was on fire,shit. Hiss, I dont think youve been following the footy too closely if you consider the names of Davis, Woey, Maxwell, Lockyer, Burns, Rowe and Holland, for trade. The only possible I would consider from your list is Williams, and maybe O'bree. Shit this loss hurts. At least we played the Roos while they are red hot, still no consolation. I'll watch the video now and bleed!
Enjoy yourself. Its later than you think!

A few comments:

1. Cameron Cloke seems to have a habit of trying to take 1 handed marks. Perhaps this is something the coaching staff need to get out of his game. Cam had some costly turnovers as well but played generally ok. Overall, could have done better.

2. Thought Malthouse should have played Carrott Seller in the forward line after half-time (not the back line) particularly after we lost Rocca. Carrott's kicking too in general play seems to be too high and archy... would be more dangerous up forward. Also wonder why he handballed to Leon Davis in the last quarter when on the 50m line running towards goal (Davis missed the running shot). I though Carrots would have been a better shot himself.

3. Williams just seems to have a knack of turning the ball over in the most impossible circumstances i.e. hitting North Melbourne players on the chest when they are amongst a sea of Magpie players. The funniest passage of play was definately O'Bree getting the ball outside 50m (oh gawd), then kicking it to Willams who marks inside 50m (two duds linking together).

4. As for the rest... though Leon Davis spent too much time on the bench. Licuria could have spent more time drifting forward. Shaw played an imporved game. Our hands off the ground didn't seem to be as clean at the North boys.

Also thought North played the possession game really well. A number of occassions they held onto the ball until an option presented itself. If the right option wasn't there they would just switch the play or move it to the centre... they would then manage to find someone. Malthouse's apprentice...

It's official ... the Pies are a much better team than I thought they were. Great effort against overwhelming odds tonight ... and so close to glory.

Tarrant played a magnificent game. It's not surprising he missed that last shot. It was a tough one. And Caracella was damn unlucky too.

If you're looking for a scapegoat tonight, then look no further than that prancing arrogant show pony in the number 33 ... what a f%ken waste of space. When his ability matches his ego he'll be a champion. Reckon they ought to dump him, his two brothers and his old man at Punt Road in a pile of chicken shit.

Thanks Bucks4ever, you've made my night. I was like --> :cry: otherwise.

What a disappointed game, and no, I don't blame Taz; he worked hard all night and did all the right thing (bar the behind that should have been a goal). I blame our 2nd and 3rd quarters; why and why did we have to play that indirect, boundary chipping style of footy again! It seems like we haven't managed to put together 3 good quarters together in 1 game, let alone 4. I reckon if we played the 2 and 3rd Qtr like we did in the last, we'd have won.

Woey and Williams , you guys should really hang your heads in shame. I rewatched the 1st Qtr again, and I dunno how he did it, but somehow Williams was able to stuff up a passage of play THREE times within 30 secs. His mere presence around the ball made it difficult for other Pies to take posession. Not only did he do nothing with the ball, he was in the way for his other teammates. We would have been better off to play with 17 players on the field and not have that DUD around.

I seriously can't see how we can make the 8 now; having said that, there's still the smallest chance IF we beat the Dons next week. The next game will define the rest of the season for the Pies.
